sti pretender
Just got my renewal from KM and not changed from last year. Still a lot cheaper than any online quote. Link to comment
scouk
Nice one Gary, your gonna be up against IAM Surety for me this year thanks to having the 3points expire on my licence... I guess it all depends how they see modifications on the car.. Did some shopping around last year but you were still the best quote! Also, so far you've always managed to scrape a little bit off each time! Keep it up!... or should I say down.. Link to comment
wrxcook
I have to add to this I got a MUCH better quote from admiral, I did expect more from a dedicated insurer Link to comment
SurreySTI
While I hate to mention it (and sorry to my namesake whose experience was rather different), but I got a very good deal from Liverpool Victoria; less than 400 quid for a 2006 STI. Whenever I pay less for insurance than tax it feels wrong I'd really like to be able to go with the specialists who actually appreciate the world we live in and enjoy, i.e. the world of the Scooby, but money matters !! Cheers Tony Link to comment
MicktypeWR1
Thanks for searching out a good deal once again Gary. I'm happy. You saved me money !!! Link to comment
t5nyw
I got a very good deal from Liverpool Victoria; less than 400 quid for a 2006 STI. Whenever I pay less for insurance than tax it feels wrong L&V were my insurers for near 10+years of powerfull Uk and JDM Scoobs ownership but they wouldn't quote let alone insure my least powerful new 2001 320R UK saloon nor the a new 330S, 320R, 340R or Cossy :( but they would for a new std STi!!!!! a very disgruntled EX customer now with Gary at KM and top service. to me service is key but I still like a keen Price Tony Link to comment
StrikE
Yup Gary is mint, i have a couple of insurance polices with him now! Link to comment
scouk
Just as a quick follow up from my earlier post on here.. Gary won over IAM Insurance.. They were happy with the car and all it's mods.. Only point they didn't like was that the car has over 10% more power than standard. So naturally Keith Michaels again for another year. Despite policy goign up by £20.. Sadly the points expiring from my licence and the drop in milage as a second car hasn't helped take the costs down Yet still cheaper than a couple others I tried. Link to comment
kennyuk300
I have to add to this I got a MUCH better quote from admiral, I did expect more from a dedicated insurer You getting commission from Admiral Link to comment
rich 300
Couldn't give me a quote due to the fact the car is kept on the road Link to comment
HairyDJ
stayed with Gary for yet another year, despite IAM being cheaper - the idiots would accept that i have several sets of wheels / tyres (summer / winter / 17 & 18) but wanted me to notify them every time these were swapped out. I also hated the way they they always want to undercut the opposition but are tough to pin down to a quote of their own. Link to comment
salsa-king
who's IAM? Km for me this year... £520 FC all mods declared etc. KM were about £15 more than LV.. but LV's Xs was £600.... KM £350.. or is it £300 can't remember. Link to comment
euan_r
Phone km every year as being tight scot i explore every option, always get same reply which is "tbh mate can touch the quote". My automatic renewal from admiral was 420 fully comp with combined excess of 250 on import sti and i dont have sqeeky clean record. Link to comment
HairyDJ
IAM = old fogies (like me!) flat cap driving club, aka Institute of Advanced Motorists. Insurance is cheaper on the basis that members have a better accident record, policies issued via adelaide insurance in Belfast Link to comment
scouk
General concensus seems to be that elephant/admiral (same group) are often cheapest for standard cars or close to standard with minimal mods. More than 3 categories of mods or significant power hike and they won't insure you.. At which point Sky insurance/Keith Michaels are better on modified cars. IIRC my borther has his RB320 insured with admiral, neither KM or Sky Insurance could match their quote. Not quite he same, but got the Ka with Elephant at the moment, but goign to give the IAM surety one a try for it's renewal since it's still costign me over £200 P.s. Euan! God knows how you get that quote from admiral! Very impressive!! Would love to get mine under £500 Currently £570 Link to comment
