My 2006 STI had BC Racing BR Series coilovers fitted by Scoobyworld a couple of years ago, but my regular garages don't have the knowledge/contacts to repair/replace the rears that (the nearside in particular) are shaking, rattling and rolling. Does anyone know of a garage with knowledge of these coilovers in the Guildford / Woking area to avoid the trip to Scoobyworld in Leicester ? Thanks for your help Tony

Needless to say the dealer was not interested in sealing the deal for £27k for cash !!

I hadn't picked up that the offer was reliant on taking finance, which wasn't my plan. Maybe the dealer could be influenced, but I suspect that their profit is all in the finance fees !! I'll give it a try anyway....

With Subaru offering a £6k discount on new STIs and a £1,600 offer to upgrade to a 340R, I'm sorely temtped to trade-in my 2006 STI Hawkeye, but the question is saloon or hatch !! Preceding the Hawkeye saloon was a 2001 P1 and 1996 Classic, but I'm still wondering whether a hatch would make more sense. Thoughts ? Tony

Five and a half years on and I'm still enjoying my 56 STI. Usual issue with early failure of suspension struts, but since replaced with adjustable coilovers. Odd repeated failures of batteries, now on my third, but according to the AA this is unusual and Imprezas are generally robust. Enjoy !!

The end - hopefully - to my dead battery story is that the dealer changed the battery and having tested the alternator found it to be just fine - thanks AA !!

Thanks guys I feel like a complete *&%$£ as I've owned the car for over 5 years and wasn't aware of this switch, and obviously nor has the AA !! I guess that this doesn't necessarily resolve the alternator/battery issue, but at least I can get to work. Thanks again Tony

I treated my car (and my wife's) to an end of year 'professional' valet yesterday and got more than I bargained for !! Strangely my 2006 STI's sidelights remained on even when they were switched off on the lighting stalk, and even when the keys were removed Having failed to rectify the situation myself and with a draining battery I called out the trusty AA, who after an hour were stumped too. While he diagnosed alternator bearing and brush wear requiring replacement, as well as a failing battery, this wasn't the cause of the lights remaining on. His thought is that an excessive amount of polish was sprayed around the dash and enough entered the lighting stalk to cause a permanent connection to be made. Oddly the numberplate light, that is apparently on the same circuit, isn't lit !! A trip to the Subaru dealer is called for, but if anyone has experience of this or advice I'm all ears Cheers Tony

Boy do I hope that they get the pricing right, or I'll just have to sell a kidney !!

A piece of advice, if you have a "little woman" it may help to add her as a named driver. When I renewed my policy a couple of years ago, my wife had 2 accident claims and 3 points, but adding her to my policy still reduced my premium, and my licence is clean and I have about 15 years NCD !! Wierd or what ?!

Latest update !! Boot light isn't the issue, so I'm continuing the 'medicine' of driving with side lights and so far so good. Cheers Tony
