Hello to everyone, new member with new car.(newish)
RS Grant replied to Rednosespeccltd's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Alright Mac, the new car's looking mint mate.. really like well kept bright red scoobs. [H] Cheers, Grant -
Nice one mate... get a few pics of the tank up. [] Cheers, Grant
-
Haha thankyou for the nomination.. I'd do it, I'm actually planning to keep this scoob for a wee while too... Maybe peeps should submit nominations to one of the current crop of RO, Phil or Frenchy directly and then a decision is made that way? Think that Imy suggested this before sounds like a fair way to do things to me. [] Cheers, Grant

I'd be gutted if it happened to me... feel sorry for those affected. Cheers, Grant

You're right there mate, I think a PPP'd WRX is quicker than a stock STi.. WRX PPP @ 270bhp and 310lbft against the STi @ 280bhp and 290lbft and the WRX's 5-speed box means less changing and faffing about unlike in the STi with its 6-speed box. I'm not sold on the looks of the GB270 Saloon, but I am a big fan of the GB270 Wagon, think it looks spot on. [H] Cheers, Grant

Tayside position is free and nobody has really stepped forward, what happens in that situation, just end up forcing someone to do it.. "You WILL organise and attend events in the Tayside Region for the next X months.." Haha [] I think there are people that would do it.. but probably aren't going to volunteer. [] Cheers, Grant

Haha aye.. thats very true mate, they were a popular deal on here. [H] Cheers, Grant

Couldn't say why they recommended that... did you not mention to them that you've been recommended a re-map and free flowing air filter as key upgrades when making bigger power on an Impreza because they have a tendency to run lean and melt stuff if you do without? It'd have been interesting to hear their reply and give them a chance to explain their point of view. I've never seen them touting themselves as Impreza Specialists, but from personal experience on the Ford RS side... I would trust nobody else with my car and it was a 140mile+ round trip every time I went there. I'd think carefully before potentially jumping from the frying pan into the fire, there are bad stories about Dastek as well. [] Cheers, Grant

I'm not so sure, you're getting a warranty covered modified car that looks great and goes like stink... plus the fact that it is being released in a very limited number. I dont think you'd be a million miles away from the RRP of the GB270 if you added all the extras to a stock 17k WRX and reckon that a limited edition is going to be worth more than a basic WRX with a few Prodrive options bolted onto it. [] Can't wait to see them 'in the flesh' cause they look great in the pics. [H] Cheers, Grant

I thought all RST's stopped production in 1990, only Fiesta's were made after this or am I wrong? Production did stop in 1990/91 and my car was one of the last batch, but it was 1 of 8 that was late registered mate.. very very rare machine. The K-plate one from up north is a fake, lol, was an E or F plate then taken out the country for a few years.. When it was brought back, the DVLA registered it as a K-plate. Mine was one of the last RS Turbo's registered in the UK genuinely. Regret selling that car, lots. [] .....and one taken outside AVA: I had absolutely no problems with AVA in my RS Turbo days, can well relate to the communication angle too, just gotta get used to it... I actually made more power after AVA set the car up at 13psi than I did running the car at 18psi after RJM in Glenrothes fitted the Turbosystems Chip and apparently 'set the car up' too. Cheers, Grant

I could be wrong, but NGK Grade 7's have always done me fine.. and IIRC are recommended when running higher boost than normal. Andy F recommends fitting them before turning up for a re-map to limit the possibility that the normal grade may not perform well once boost rises. [] Cheers, Grant

105.9mph... thats the important bit mate, thats a very quick car you've got. FWD and 1/4 miles arent ideally suited in perfect conditions, when things are a bit slippy then you're really up against it. Great time though. [H] Cheers, Grant

For ALL round amazing performance I fail to see past Goodyear Eagle F1s mate... As good as Yoko/Toyo in dry stuff but in the wet they are way better and you still get large levels of grip. Top tyre, when I/family have been buying replacement tyres we haven't chosen anything else for the past 5 years anyway. [H] Cheers, Grant

Thanks mate... only caught a glimpse of yours as you were leaving otherwise I'd have wandered over for a chat with a fellow Spec-D enthusiast. [] Cheers, Grant

Nah, it would probably be me that was doing the time at Her Majesty's pleasure mate.. the guy is raging but he's not the kind of guy to react with violence, even to that (something I cant relate to)!? Police were no help, basically told him there was no chance that the CCTV van parked opposite his car (all night) picked anything up. Was a reasonable night until we discovered the damage to his car when we were thinking about leaving, which really put a downer on things for our group. Cheers, Grant

Aye, went along about 9.45ish and it was pretty busy.. usual dose of cruise scum there though, a mates mint condition original Green Corrado VR6 Storm got key'd 3 times, right down to the metal too. Tossers. Cheers, Grant

Haha, RS Turbo's and AVA... Brings back memories for me too!! I had a 1992 J-Plate Series 2 that made 163bhp@wheels there!! [] Power output sounds about spot on for a standard 8yr old car to be honest. Cheers, Grant
-
Hahahahahaha.. I love your no bullshit attitude mate. It must be tough only having Four Hundred and Forty Four of those horses to play with, its only just over double what your car started with out the factory!! [] This car is awesome. Good to see things coming together mate. [] Cheers, Grant
-
Cool, good ballpark figures for a 20g... enjoy and best of luck at Crail. [H] Cheers, Grant
-
Thats EXACTLY how I want my engine bay to look one day... top job mate!! What turbo are you running on that?? [H] Cheers, Grant
-
They look amazing mate, if you dont mind me asking, what sort of ballpark figure are you talking for that conversion?? PM if you prefer.. [] Cheers, Grant

Quite 'spooky' seeing the two Black Hawkeyes sitting there together... [] Cheers, Grant

Well I'm starting a new job on the 6th June, which requires me working weekends.. so I really doubt that I'll have my first weekend off, which means that I'll have to pull out of this. Bit of a bugger though, fancied getting some decent pics of my car done and its a great idea!! [H] Cheers, Grant

What about something diesel... most do 600miles to a tank and you've got the RA for speed and fun. [] My recommendation would be to go for something like a 306, 406, Xsara TD from the auctions and enjoy the economy on your way to and from work. They're actually reasonably comfy too, the 406 especially... plus, they are easy to work on and parts are dirt cheap. Cheers, Grant
