  1. Yes, one of Knockhill's new regulations to comply for insurance purposes, is that all drivers and passengers must be wearing long sleeves. Personally, I can't see anyone walking around Knockhill towards the end of November without a fleece or jacket on!! John
  2. It's just the case that the forums are incredibly popular these days, and the main SIDC website also takes a hammering during the whole day. The server we bought about 4 years ago simply isn't up to the job any more. A new server has been purchased, and the IT guys are working on new forum software as well which is more efficient, and has some nice new facilities as well (such as sub forums - we could have Scottish Scoobies, and within there have for sale & wnter, events, off topic etc etc). John
  3. Ouch! If it's only about an inch from the sidewall, then chances are they won't be able to repair it as there will be too much flexing. I think it has to be in the centre 3/4 of the tread before they can safely repair it. I don't know anyone with new or nearly new ones sitting in their garage - I think Jools has a set, but they are mounted on pink alloys. These were for sale a while back so might have been sold ? I'm actually going to swap my wheels tyres for the F1s for the winter/wet season. John
  4. John, it was Mark Whalley's STi Type R, about 4 -5 years ago. He was running about 450bhp at the time, on Proflex suspension, magnesium lower suspension arms, steel internals running about 2.0 bar boost on race fuel, AP 6 pots, and nice sticky slicks. I'm sure that your latest weapon would seriously threaten that though - you'll have to give it a try some time John
  5. You don't need to be an Impreza owner to join the SIDC Most of the Elise/Exige owners are members to take advantage of the cheaper track events. John
  6. Keith, yes of course we have space for a Skyline and EVO. Just get them to book up through the club shop. We've not had a Skyline on track with us since Charlie had has last year, and that was impressively fast! John
  7. In the dry, an standard UK Impreza will lap around 65 - 67 seconds. Modified/JDM versions will lap around 63 - 64 seconds. Good drivers, in well sorted cars would be around 61 - 62 seconds. The fastest I've hear of in an Impreza was about 58 seconds, but that was a very modified car running slicks. As Dougster says, lap timing is strictly forbidden at our track events. The main reason is that as soon as you start to go for better lap times with a target to beat, you start pushing the car beyond it's safe limits and are much more likely to go off and consequently hold up the event for everyone else. You'll also get frustrated/red mist if you come across slower cars during a lap which hold you up a bit. John
  8. Jamie, why would you touch that road if you are going from Westhill to Dyce ? Surely you would take the road from Westhill towards Blackburn, and either go down the main dual carriageway and turn left at Marshall trailers, or take the back road via Hatton of Fintray to Dyce (choice of a few depending on where about in Dyce you are ?) John
  9. Jools will probably not be able to make it - going around past Kate's house to help with some stuff regarding Paul. Eric's in Holland, but will be thinking of us and having a pint! John
  10. I'll contact Eric and Jools to see if they can make it. John
  11. Welcome Dave
  12. Sarah, it would be good if you could make it along, not seen you and John for a while! John
  13. That's right, a full day from 9am to 5pm, open pit lane for only £95!! (only £105 if you aren't an SIDC member) We've booked up the full Knockhill circuit on Saturday 22nd October. It will be an open pit lane session the whole day from 9am to 5pm, with an hours break for lunch from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. There will also be a very limited number of half day sessions available for £50/£60. Booking will be done on-line at the club shop from tomorrow morning at SIDC Club Shop For other payment options __ email me by clicking here __ We are hoping to encourage a number of vendors to attend on the day, so they'll be able to set up a display stand/stall for free, in an open area near the pit lane entrance. This will hopefully entice even more spectators along for the day and make it a great event. If you are a vendor are want to take part, then please __ email me by clicking here __ I've already had confirmation that a number of very interesting and rapid cars will be taking part (there's over 2,000bhp between 4 cars!), and they will have passenger seats for those who feel brave enough! We've already had a lot of interest for this event, so please book up quickly. John
  14. Not at all, we've had a 106 on track with us before, and it's pace surprised quite a few people!! John
  15. I'll be there, as will a few others I know. John
  16. CT, Tut is getting better slowly after his corrective spinal operation a few months ago He's still not 100%, but able to drive well enough now to take on track days and road driving. His strength and level of feeling will hopefully improve over the next 6 - 12 months. We've got a provisional slot booked for the 22nd October (pretty much a full day), and it would be great to see you out on track again. John
  17. From David Pearson, in the very rare Caterham 21: KH Pictures John
  18. The very same car was sitting on the dual carriageway on the way out of Kintore into Aberdeen (just before the potatoes for sale place) at about 6pm last night. I was hovering around the speed limit so nothing to worry about there, but I did check my mirrors for a few minutes to see if they were following. John
  19. I'll be up for a meeting some tie in the next few weeks. Our next scheduled meeting would be the 4th October, but I can't make then, as I've got to work late that night (ie until after 10pm!). John
  20. It would be our usual mix of cars, with Impreza, EVOs, Elises, Caterhams and Ferrari's etc There just isn't enough of us in Scotland who take part in these events to be able to justify an Impreza only event, unless the price was double or higher, which would reduce numbers even more. 90% of people actually prefer the mix of cars anyway, as it's good to see who one marque compares against another, especially liked the mixed conditions we had yesterday. John
  21. Dear all, we've been offered the possibility of a whole day session at Knockhill on Saturday 22nd October from 9am to 5pm, with an hours break for lunch. Costs would be in the region of £100 for the whole day. How many would be interested - add you names to the list. 1. JohnS
  22. There's more hints and tips in the info pack you all should have by now John
  23. If you paid on-line, then you should have received an email to the address that you bought on-line with. There are quite a few attachments, and it was sent to about 50 people. Can you please check your email inboxes, including the junk mail one (depending on what rules you have set). I only got two message rejections back, and they were because people had an incorrect address in the club shop. If you can both send me an email to john@sidc.co.uk I'll forward on the emial sent to everyone with all the info. Cheers John
  24. Just a brief update (being careful not to say anything that may affect the outcome a future court case). It appears that due to the lack of skid marks on the road and witness reports, Paul didn't have any time to react to the accident, and hit the passenger side of the Camper Van that turned across his path. Paul was in no way to blame for the accident. John

    Sad Day

I'm sure some of you who went on the very first Isle of Man event a few years ago will remember Paul Marshall in his "mad P1". Tragically, Paul was taken away from us last night in an RTA whilst on his bike. Paul really lived life to the full, and he will be very sadly missed. Sad Day John
