  1. All polished and ready for the big day
  2. Nice wee video Davie ,must have been brillaint to see a top driver and car close up and personal like that. Something about the noise of a wrc car that just gets the adrenalin pumping. Ps. Check the thread with old photos of you up at the Rally challenge.
  3. Found an Sd card the other day , and these were on it ,from the Rally challenge at Knockers 2004. This must be some kind of record , 4 years tae get photos up, excuse the quality as they were taken on a wee casio compact. Davie in action and a few others
  4. On road tyres the profile is given as a percentage ,where as on competition tyres the 625 is in mm and represents the overall diameter of the tyre, pretty sure it equates to a 45 % profile road tyre.
  5. A lot of the rally boys use millers oils and they tend to be a bit less expensive than Motul . I have personally used Millers cfs 10/60 for the last 9 years in my scoobs, a lot of the Mobil stuff is too thin for the boxer engine.

  7. I've got to recommend Nigel Mansell's autobiography as it's a brilliant read and even if you aren't a fan you have got to appreciate a guy who won an F1 championship in "92 and went on to win a CART championship the next in his debut year. I always remember him after winning the British gp at Silverstone in "91 and then stopping on his victory lap to give Ayrton Senna a lift after he ran dry. An amazing driver with some great stories to tell.
  8. Like a lot of guys on here , i can't watch any Colins vids without a tear in my eye. There will be a wee piece of us always in mourning for Colin ,but we know it will heal and get a bit easier with time, but we will never forget him. I've had impreza's for the last 9 years ,my dream car,all because of a certain local lad winning a world championship.Forget the champion, the multi millionaire, the tv cameras,if you were lucky enough to meet him ,he was an approachable down to earth local guy who like all of us had a passion for anything with wheels and im sure on his memorial day he was looking down with that wee smirk on his face at all of us in our Scoobys. thanks Cal the original poster for the link to that amazing in car footage The man was a master of his craft.
  9. Just be careful its not the turbo Heatshield needing nipped up, as if this drops down it could jam between the steering column and the downpipe, (not much clearance here). The rest of the heat shields shouldnt pose a real safety problem if they become detached.(just an annoying rattle)
  10. Like said before , the money has got to be on the Maf sensor , when i had my 99 classic this sensor had to be changed twice ,although my CEL did come on,your symptoms sound identical. They are very prone to failure on these models especially if using anything apart from the panel filter.Iirc the dealers charge about £90 for the sensor ,although some try to sell you the housing aswell for 3 times the price.
  11. Nice to hear all the good Meercat experiences,Ma Scoob is booked for a fortnights time , and am like a kid waiting on santa coming ,hee, hee Forgot to ask about the heat wrap,i guess they can supply this ?
  12. Ha,ha , i had one of those too mate, god that takes me back. I thought i was Evel Kinevel on my Raleigh Grifter, the man himself would have been proud of the jumps i used to do on that bike, and i've got the scars to prove it RIP Evel, a childhood hero.
  13. This is two companys that do wide body kits for new age scoobs, although not sure if they do anything as new as a Hawkeye.HT do a lot of there own stuff so maybe could help. http://www.a-b-w.co.uk/abwkits.html http://www.htautos.co.uk/ Like said by Andy most of these kits will be bolt on front wings and bond on side panels where the arches will have to be cut away a bit. So you are talking some serious body work . Prodrive would sell you some real deal, nice carbon fibre panels ,(if you want to re mortgage your house)
  14. This happened to a guy a while ago up in Inverness with PPP fitted , heres a link to the thread which makes interesting reading. http://bbs.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-general...al-exhaust.html
  15. Those pics have just put me off my dinner.. What fooking makes people want to do this crazy sh*t??
  16. Those pics totally rock ,dude thanks for posting them. Quite like the scoob at a push in WRC guise ,as for the GTR ..... Awesome , i would do illegal things to be able to buy that car.
  17. I have just got two 225 40 18" T1 R's fitted on the front .Have always used T1 S's up till now on both my scoobs with no problems ,so these shouldn't be any worse.(we will soon see). Got them from Auchinlea tyres at Newhouse Ind estate for £107 each ,balanced, valved and fitted. p.s i'm not affilliated to above co. just posted price in case anyone was interested.
  18. That video tribute really hit the spot ,cheers for taking the time to put that together. I've had scoobs for nearly 9 years now and followed rallying for even longer and cant believe we wont see the big man in action again, so videos like that, although sad, help bring the good memories flooding back. That is also a fantastic album you have there Col , i love just how natural looking they are , the one with his dad and wee bro is just so touching ,bringing back memories of the good fun and atmosphere of the motorsport show. Never forgotten.
  19. Yep i got one in aswell, would rather spend the cash on my own scoob, unless ye were getting a wee go in a wrc mobile .
  20. There are wear indicators on the pads (usually one on each set) ,which are made of spring steel and are designed to make a slight squealing(not so much a grinding) noise when the friction material wears down and the indicators contact the discs. Sometimes if the little bits are bent too far towards the disc then the noise appears a bit prematurely. The pads are real easy to take out and check, just take the wire retaining clip out and knock the pins out, then pads just pull out.You done the hardest bit by taking the wheels off [] P.s the outer pad on the passenger side looks quite well down for 9.5k . or maybe i just drive like miss Daisy []
  21. Back to the top for some excellent clips, thanks for posting.[H]
  22. Nice link and cheers for the heads up, this sounds like a good show that will attract a few peeps from here [] , fingers crossed it goes ahead.
  23. Awesome pics as usual ,and another vote for the stunner with the pink brolly [][]
  24. Nice job there guys,i've been meaning to do mine for ages, just wondering where to get the bulbs as i tried to get silver ones for the rear before and couldn't find them anywhere.(even tried all the boy racer shops).
