I think it depends on where you are looking at - some coverage is patchy. Like most of Ecosse. Bear in mind that for the freeware option some images are about three years old. Still good though, esp. for the young ones. K.

Subaru Legacy Estate. Impreza Sport (red if you must know; and a very much under-rated car). RB5. Terzo presently. I would never look at another manufacturer unless the lottery comes off, then I would probably buy an Aston - but still keep the Scoob. K.

Stay well mate. Which exhaust are you running, just so I can listen out for you? K.

Epic Dave and well done - no wonder you've been quiet for so long! Beautiful car. Where's the old bus now? Ken

Free bump as I like the photos. K.

Just been reading the second local blat. It turns out the guy had lost his licence before and the suspension had expired but he had neglected to reapply for a new one. Also he hadn't taken out insurance for the car (I wonder why!) and wouldn't have been given cover anyway. In light of these details I now think the guy got off lightly but I don't think he would find it economical to insure another car in future. I would stress again though that most of the A82 is heavily policed so be careful. K.

I read today in the local rag about a guy sentenced for speeding on the A82. He was driving to work at 07:30 doing 54 mph in the 40 limit between Barnhill and Dumbuck junction. This is dual carriageway and there were no other cars on the road at the time. He was nabbed and the penalties he received were a £250 fine, 3 points and a SIX MONTH BAN! The article didn't state so but I hope he had a history of it as this seems well harsh to me. Points and a fine, yes, but a six month ban for being 14 mph over the limit? Surely that's harsh. K. PS. A word of warning - this stretch is heavily patrolled and the Traffic cars often nestle amongst the other cars in Lyndsay's garage.

Have a GREAT Christmas everyone and watch the roads if you're out and about. K.

Forget the Bridgestones (AKA Firestone I think). I have the Potenza's and they are well mince. I haven't tried the Eagles but certainly the Pirelli P Zero type seemed quite good, esp in the wet. K.

I was thinking the same myself but they are now an appreciating commodity. I did a "Parkers Guide" on the Terzo the other day, 57K, MY98 and well looked after - 5 grand for a private sale. This means my car has depreciated by £18K in seven years - Ouch! K.

I had one and they are very good cars. If you can get the number off the plaque inside check out the RB5OC website for a FSH. K.

It's a nice motor - 1,000 bhp and will do do 252 mph with the limiter still on. £840K ? Get real; not even JK will have one. As for the appearance of it, no thanks, I'd rather have an E-Type. With all round discs of course ! Give me a 22B or a DB9 any day. K.

Anyone posted on 5ive-0 yet regarding this? I've not checked as I find it a bugger of a slow site. K.

Yep, pretty good. The NASA one is shockingly bad, but their website is seriously good apart from that if you're into these things. I think the first thing people do is to look for their own house. I know I did! And found the bugger; the grass needed cutting! I've only got the free version, I believe there is a deluxe revision to which you have to subscribe. I've also heard that certain areas are blurred out for maybe security reasons eg : Faslane, Rosyth & a certain part of Nevada. Also "Glasgow" Prestwick.Security? Who's watching you, watching them, watching you? K.

Many Thanks. Just a bit paranoid about the sensor. I'll consider, along with the second de-cat. Cheers, Ken

Dougs, Great program, but a little bizarre at times. Fact is sometimes stranger than fiction, depending upon the magnification you select. As is life... For example, I chose Central Square Cincinatti and it listed four areas of interest : Organisation to Counter Sexual Assault, Mid-America Arts Alliance, National Center For Fathering, & Young Grand-Parents? Club. Coming to a place near you soon! I tried charting the fishing locations about the Stockiemuir (Glasgow - Drymen) Road but it got a bit blurry; this may make this area a good place to hide from satellites! The NASA version is Pi-Ash! Says it all really. K.

Synchronicity mate. Anyway, just watched it, he's looking quite sharp. Saw a wee historic clip of RB too; I believe the last time he was seen he was in a wheelchair? McRae is a spectactular driver and takes no prisoners. K.

Thanks for replying, that's a fair drive and will have cost you many pennies. Believe it or not I didn't see a single Scoob when I was going N/W today. I did see one on the return journey, but I couldn't get the plate, an oldie in black (pre-face-lift, no scoop). Well kept car. Also a nice Spec C I think at Inveruglas, but that was all. Good roads past Bridge of Orchy but watch your dials! Safe today, but who knows, best be careful! K.

With a difference. I nearly kacked myself today while fishing Loch Ba, just off the A82 at Glencoe, but the loch goes on for a large number of miles and the terrain is not ideal for fast transit on foot, esp when fully laden. Anyway, with about a mile to go back to the car - which I couldn't see because of the hillock obscuring the lay-by where the car was parked- I heard a Scooby Sport exhaust firing up and then saw through a gap in the terrain a blue Impreza with gold wheels horsing off Southwards - panicked! Lots of thoughts going through my head. I'll try to be concise. I reckon I did that that mile in ten minutes, my distance reckoning might be out but my watch isn't, and to my relief the car was still there. It's possible that someone with a car of the same nature stopped for a look to compare. My point being twofold : it shook my ar*e and is there anyone else on here who has similar car who was up that way today? K.

Looks like I'm out of touch. Good luck anyway. K.

Got mine down to £450, and with a lower XS, using NU. This time last year Kwik Fit quoted me £1.5K, More Than came back with £550, albeit a big XS. Shop around. I did the interweb thing and eventually resorted to a broker, he obtained a deal I couldn't source myself. I suppose you will be a Group 18? My car's a 17, so probably cheaper, even with the G82 post code. Good hunting, K.

This thread wasn't meant to run as far as it has but at least it brings some local info to the forum and I suppose that's what it's all about. Peter, well done on the Sea trout. They're actually better than Salmon to catch and eat. A lot of seasoned Salmon anglers chuck it to go after them and nothing else! If you really want a chance of a Salmon look no further than the River Leven. Tip : leave your good car at home, carry a wading staff and a large truncheon. The first will help you negotiate the accumulated rubbish and the second will assist you in despatching the fish and the untermensch. I speak from experience; it's a shame because £ for lb, it's fantastic value. If the river was removed to the SE of England there would be fifty year waiting list for it, it really is that good. K.

For what it's worth, and bearing in mind that this is mainly a motoring forum, just a follow up : http://www.wild-fishing-scotland.co.uk/php...opic.php?p=9039 My headstone will read "Blanked In Some Nice Places". I didn't see a single salmon today, despite the river being perfect, but I'll be back. It's a lovely drive, if you're patient this time of year, and Glen Orchy is stunning. Due to the trees though, you have to drive slowly (!) and sometimes get out for a look (!!). I've driven there before in the close season, when the trunk roads are a bit quiter, and it is a really good round trip. It's about a sixty mile drive from Dumbarton, up Loch Lomondside way. You can have a good snack at Tyndrum and then go right to Bridge of Orchy, and come down the Glen, or go left at Tyndrum (Oban road) and then hang a right before Dalmally which will take you out Bridge of Orchy. Loop. Well worth it on a good, crisp day, and you'll enjoy the corners on the way. K.
