  1. I might be getting older Chris. Or wiser. I can never tell. But 30 zones are something I've always been cautious of since I started driving. Except my first driving test where I was doing 40 in a 30. London road east bound just before the change from 30 to 40, and I wasn't even keeping up with traffic! As far as speedo law - A car's speedo CANNOT under read (not over read as the people in my head said earlier) as far as I am aware. They are not allowed to over read by more than 10% either. The tolerance is built in to account for changes in tyre pressures etc. so that in a worst case scenario the speedo reads spot on.
  2. I don't think they will be disabled, just that an option to disable laser alerts will have to be included. I have a classic road angel which you can just unplug the lasery bit from. There's a new law due in very soon that will make any tools for detecting what speed measuring devices are active. This means laser alerts, radar alerts and devices that can tell you if a speed camera is actually active. GPS units are not only legal, but they are full supported by the government.
  3. I always thought it was +10% for a warning +20% for a fine. But that's probably an urban legend. Personally in a 30 zone I'll stick to 30. They're generally there for good reason.
  4. Now that sounds the bees knees. Can we get a tanker shipped over for the next track day?
  5. It's been said plenty of times - it's not only a car but a technical excerscise too. It can't be compared to even the McLaren F1. It's a car Jim, but not as we know it. It's not the kind of car you ask "What's the fuel economy?", "Will the residuals be good?", "Insurance costs?". There are two kind of people in the world. Those who can afford a Veyron and those who don't have a hope in hell. As clarkson said last night we'll probably never see a car like this again in our lifetime, if ever. But it's nice to dream.
  6. Do you think a big tuning market will spring up around it? Surely 1001 horses is not enough.
  7. It's quite a bit of kit really. Here's a great list of the "ten coolest things" about the Veyron. A second key is required to program the car into its top ?speed? mode. How many other cars are ballsy enough to have a horsepower gauge? The top of the engine is exposed; there?s no glass or other cover. It?ll score you the best parking place at any restaurant anywhere in the world. The audio system costs $30,000 Switch the stability control off, and it?ll spin all four wheels in third gear. Going 0-to-250 mph takes less than a minute. At full throttle in seventh gear, the Veyron gets less than three mpg. What looks like a secondary rear spoiler is in fact an air brake. Bugatti Requires a deposit of more than $350,000 just to place an order. There's something very satisfying about the car as a whole.
  8. Glad to be of assistance.
  9. There's a couple down that way. Add yourself to the map.
  10. Looks standard mate
  11. Thought you might be chucking the STI and going back to the old skool for a minute there Billy.
  12. Craig, you might want to wire up the powered aerial line mate. When I fitted my Pioneer 8600 the ISO wire for it was met by nothing coming out of the Pioneer. If you just splice it onto the switched 12V line it will work a TREAT.
  13. Times have changed in the last 10-20 years though. Insurance is a squillion times more expensive and insuring something with a bit of poke is costly as we all know. Hell I had the cash sitting waiting to get a Supra when I was 20 but the insurance was almost as much as the car! And so that's why people are buying middle of the road cars and making them look different. There is many a car out there that has been ruined because every accessory under the sun has been added to it. Mostly without consideration of the overall aesthetics of the car. Bits look bolted on just for the sake of it. Lexus or other lights that look utterly out of place. Parts of a car chromed that don't need chrome. Wheels that look like they're 3 sizes too big for a car and stick out like a sore thumb. And bits of fibreglass added that don't seem to match the other bits of added fibreglass never mind the rest of the car. There are some very nicely modded all show and no go cars out there. Put together with a plan and a design ethos in mind using tasteful parts, rather than just going to halfords and grabbing every bit that is designed to fit your car.
  14. WRXGirly, I'm in G71 and Elephant do me nicely.
  15. Deary me that was some time ago. One of the instructors on the rally school at KH described a hill climb/sprint at the park to me. He did that whilst piloting the car back down the rally course at a speed that was quite frankly scary. So I don't really remember much of it
  16. Vicki, A full Hayward and Scott exhaust system from the turbo back. An STI Panel Filter (rather than going the whole hog for an induction kit) and then going through to Edinburgh and having the legend that is Andy F sprinkle fairy dust over your ECU to turn the car into a monster. That's basically my plan for next year too as it happens!
  17. Great news Ed! I've still heard nothing about mine and I have a letter from Subaru saying it's covered. I think I will swap the plate over for a non motorpoint one though as I said the other day! Keep it on the DL.
  18. Was it on last night? I saw most of it on thursday before getting a phone call. They all looked like they were wired to the moon before it even started.
  19. And I thought my Sub Joke was bad.
  20. What's been done to it now? The Tein springs are very good, but my mudflaps are scraping everywhere too, so I ned to move them up a notch.
  21. I've not been in there for years Vicki, but I did drive past it about half 5 last night probably. I was out in the village last night at the Camphill with some mates, but the car was tucked up in bed so I could let my hair down. Which has left me a wee bit rough this morning.
  22. VICKI! BACK AWAY FROM THE MODS! Nahh! It's great fun. I bought my car a year ago almost to the day. Planning on doing nothing but a headunit and speakers. Here we are now with a headunit and no speakers, but with a whole wealth of other handling, styling and minor performance mods. And a list as long as my arm to try and get it up near the 300bhp mark next year. And I've loved every minute of it all.
  23. Whooops. Ended up in the pub and now I'm a bit pished. Email off to Phil tomorrow. I promise. Pre-Christmas - doubt it. It takes 7 days to get them made up as is as far as I know. I'll get an email out first thing and see what Lord Phil of the Scoobs has to say though.
  24. << can always rely on stephen for somthing gay to be added >> And we can always rely on you pointing it out.
  25. She needs one of these too.
