  2. Its £1.60 a gallon out here.
  3. Aye, sorry for going off topic Pierre, Hurry up and do something so we can annoy you again Callum
  4. I know the feeling, Im on 28% over here so it kind of balances itself out compared to UK. I get an allowance for accommodation and medical insurance, but the myth that the USA is cheaper to live in than UK is now tosh, apart for petrol prices, cigarettes and beer. (Which as you can imagine is the important bits) Im going to store the S9 and try some V8 fettling over here. There is a shop that specializes in gas flowing cylinder heads, cams and carburation and its caveman stuff compared to forced induction so Im going to get an older muscle car and play. Parts are quite cheap as well. Are you still at AD or have you stepped up? Callum
  5. Hello Russell! Have you been tying any Kangaroo's down recently? We had a guy out your way doing a job for BHP.(Obviously not your bhp) Callum
  6. Hello Alan, nice to hear from you, I take it your abroad as well? I havent been around as much as I used to, with work commitments and initially moving up to Aberdeen. I just pop on now and again to bam up Lucky Pierre ;-) I'm in The USA now. Callum W
  7. Post edited by Wilky. What happens in the past should stay there. I think the less said about the above the better, its a pandoras box.
  8. You must be referring to the fact that the inner core is also finned. http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...ntercoolers.htm Was the APS one that you butchered not finned? Mine is. Callum
  9. Snigger............
  10. "Detective chief Inspector Lee once again commences an investigation..........."
  11. 1981 mini 1000 in vermillion orange, a 1966 mini cooper s with the erse hanging out it (If I had kept it and restored it it would have been worth a mint) then a 83 mini with a 1340 avonbar with a 45 webber, high lift cam, 1.5 roller rocker JK S/C gearbox etc etc etc and Ive never been able to leave a car standard since (Except the 22b and the disposable car) Callum W
  12. Thats what he'll give you after he's finished with your balloon knot Satan!
  13. Does anyone know the whereabouts of the LHFOJ? Is he in country or over in the States? If he's over here Im going to go up and annoy him next weekend. Callum W
  14. Great stuff! Keep us posted Peter.
  15. Worked fine by me, and was advised in 2002 by RCM.
  16. Amen to that. 700rpm ? that is a fair bit, whats the diameter of your pipework compared to the diameter of the pipework on the other cars? and where you are "choking" down into your twinscroll, whats the reduction compared to other cars of similar build, I only ask because Im interested. I have no intentions of doing this its too extreme for me and the problems which you may encounter further down the line is not something my pocket could bridge, however if your sponsored thats a huge help. The proof of the pudding will always be in the eating on a build like this, having learned the hard way, I now stick with what we know rather than what we need to find out. Callum W
  17. Very neat peter, and its nice to see the job being kept so clinical however the benefits of what you have done compared to the results expected from a similar set up in the rotated position are minimal. Although its nice to see something different I struggle to comprehend why you have done it when the gains dont weigh against the cost. I do wish you well, however I cant help think you wasting your money. Callum W
  18. 1 3/4 negative camber at the front 1 1/2 negative camber at the back 2 toe in all round works very well on fast road. On track you will see a bit of understeer but how often will you be doing that? These were my personal settings on a classic. Try them and see, everyones different. Callum W
  19. Correct on all accounts, However when you take into account the tolerance factored into the block, crank, rods and pistons and the fact that the rods new are around 3k, and that they can withstand sitting static on LC with ALS running at anything up to 2.7bar through a 34mm restrictor generating ridiculous heat, waiting for countdown and launch, and the fact it probably hasnt been over 2 bar with the Profec B 2 boost controller, you could bet you were going to have a pretty trouble free bottom end, so long as your bearing were kept fresh, along with the oil and servicing. You cannot however rule out any poor treatment by previous owner, the same with every car you buy. As far as modding goes, and the bits on that car including the gearbox and brakes you couldnt buy them for the asking price of the car, regardless of what you need to do to bring it up to scratch. Callum
  20. Theres a torque curve that will put hairs on your chest.
  21. Prodrive wrc block, it has det rings in the top section of the bores and all oil ways are opened up Penski rods Omega Pistons Gp A crank Baffled sump reversed manifold, plenum increased by 1/3 in size at least V3 heads which had the WRC car profile on them for that year Gp A parallel fuel rails, insulated 850cc injectors Owen development turbo, rotated 98 WRC intercooler made by the man who made the originals with an original core, he refused to use anything else. integral header/ power steering reservoir from an S5 WRC Prodrive S2 gearbox with plated rear / trick front diff, the handling is amazing. slight oversteer and the front end is nailed to the deck. I can vouch for these parts as I had the engine and gearbox built and when they were in the Millenium Falcon I can honestly say Ive never driven a better handling car. Some people look for power figures. The power and torque of this set up was absolutely perfect. I have no experience of the installation into this type R nor do not know how its been looked after, but if its anything like when it was in my old car, she will hitch her skirt up and feckin go when you want it!!! She was geared for a top whack of about 130mph, 4000rpm was 70mph, however dont be surprised if you travel back in time when accelerating. Its awesome. Callum W
  22. Well, I thought I would drag this back to the top. What the script o subaru knowledgemeister? is there a chink of light at the end of the tunnel or is your car just gathering dust in a garage in Beith? Im ready for a base map and run in. Callum W
  23. Very brave Peter! Good luck and I hope it all goes well. Callum W
  24. Aye good Luck John, Im going to try and get down to watch the goings on, alot of fantastic work there from all concerned. Callum W
  25. Heatwrap on headers is always on borrowed time, eventually you are at some point going to have to replace it. Everytime you drive from cold in the wet the wrap will get soaked and you will get the steam scenario regardless of what you do. Drive the car and dry it out, if its wet the road spray will wash away the coolant, I wouldnt say it was any great drama, I have done this several times and it didnt seem to shorten the heatwraps life any less than it is, IIRC it lasted a couple of years before it became tatty and I had to replace it. Personally I wouldnt bother too much mate. Callum W
