  1. Worked fine by me, and was advised in 2002 by RCM.
  2. Amen to that. 700rpm ? that is a fair bit, whats the diameter of your pipework compared to the diameter of the pipework on the other cars? and where you are "choking" down into your twinscroll, whats the reduction compared to other cars of similar build, I only ask because Im interested. I have no intentions of doing this its too extreme for me and the problems which you may encounter further down the line is not something my pocket could bridge, however if your sponsored thats a huge help. The proof of the pudding will always be in the eating on a build like this, having learned the hard way, I now stick with what we know rather than what we need to find out. Callum W
  3. Very neat peter, and its nice to see the job being kept so clinical however the benefits of what you have done compared to the results expected from a similar set up in the rotated position are minimal. Although its nice to see something different I struggle to comprehend why you have done it when the gains dont weigh against the cost. I do wish you well, however I cant help think you wasting your money. Callum W
  4. 1 3/4 negative camber at the front 1 1/2 negative camber at the back 2 toe in all round works very well on fast road. On track you will see a bit of understeer but how often will you be doing that? These were my personal settings on a classic. Try them and see, everyones different. Callum W
  5. Would need to position the hemi way too far back into the tunnel to balance the car. Its looking like I had better grow a moustache unless anyone else wants to justify why I should wait and save for the sweet sound of dixi.......
  6. .I would love to import the S9, its just a nightmare of a minefield to bring an import car into the USA. The Trans am is more in the disposable cash price bracket.
  7. lol, I saw a 2 door MK2 escort shell outside a scrap yard just the other day.......................now theres a thought.........
  8. I still edge toward a Gereral Lee, but the Challenger is just so feckin nice, and yes it is the car Hammond drove! Callum
  9. Okay as Im sure y'all know im in Louisiana for the foreseeable future. I have a company pickup truck however thats the A to B car and I need something to tinker with in the mahoooooosive garage my house has. So heres the short list and how Im thinking, any comments both sensible and non sensible welcomed. a. New subaru Impreza STI with all the whistles and bells - been there done that, wrote the book. But I do like driving them. b. The new Dodge Challenger SRT8, In Hemi Orange, 440bhp of muscle car. - I would supercharge it with a bolt on kit/ecu and get @ 580bhp. When the nazi staff car was mine I loved the instant torque a V8 gives you. c. 78 Trans am in Black and gold ala Smokey and the bandit - Mass produced, plenty good restored ones around fairly cheap instant kudos and endless street cred. d. 69 dodge charger "general Lee" - rare, expensive hard to find but highly desirable. 440ci of hemi heaven. This is the one my heart wants but a restored general lee replica is very very expensive. e. Save my money and just drive the truck around. I throw it open to the body of the kirk.............
  10. Correct on all accounts, However when you take into account the tolerance factored into the block, crank, rods and pistons and the fact that the rods new are around 3k, and that they can withstand sitting static on LC with ALS running at anything up to 2.7bar through a 34mm restrictor generating ridiculous heat, waiting for countdown and launch, and the fact it probably hasnt been over 2 bar with the Profec B 2 boost controller, you could bet you were going to have a pretty trouble free bottom end, so long as your bearing were kept fresh, along with the oil and servicing. You cannot however rule out any poor treatment by previous owner, the same with every car you buy. As far as modding goes, and the bits on that car including the gearbox and brakes you couldnt buy them for the asking price of the car, regardless of what you need to do to bring it up to scratch. Callum
  11. Theres a torque curve that will put hairs on your chest.
  12. Prodrive wrc block, it has det rings in the top section of the bores and all oil ways are opened up Penski rods Omega Pistons Gp A crank Baffled sump reversed manifold, plenum increased by 1/3 in size at least V3 heads which had the WRC car profile on them for that year Gp A parallel fuel rails, insulated 850cc injectors Owen development turbo, rotated 98 WRC intercooler made by the man who made the originals with an original core, he refused to use anything else. integral header/ power steering reservoir from an S5 WRC Prodrive S2 gearbox with plated rear / trick front diff, the handling is amazing. slight oversteer and the front end is nailed to the deck. I can vouch for these parts as I had the engine and gearbox built and when they were in the Millenium Falcon I can honestly say Ive never driven a better handling car. Some people look for power figures. The power and torque of this set up was absolutely perfect. I have no experience of the installation into this type R nor do not know how its been looked after, but if its anything like when it was in my old car, she will hitch her skirt up and feckin go when you want it!!! She was geared for a top whack of about 130mph, 4000rpm was 70mph, however dont be surprised if you travel back in time when accelerating. Its awesome. Callum W
  13. Well, I thought I would drag this back to the top. What the script o subaru knowledgemeister? is there a chink of light at the end of the tunnel or is your car just gathering dust in a garage in Beith? Im ready for a base map and run in. Callum W
  14. I would rather buy a car at the Barras. From personal experience I wouldnt buy anything from them. Steer well clear. Callum W
  15. Very cleverly put, however I posted an old joke about a man accused of molesting various children on several occasions, who settled out of court rather than face the facts of the matter in court which if they had been unfound would have cleared his name. You posted a picture of a child who clearly has additional needs, which stated that he was retarded, and ridiculed international competition for such people tailored to give them hope and similar stature to those of us fortunate not to have such needs. You do the maths bawbag.
  16. Q - How does Michael Jackson know its time for bed? A -Its when the big hand touches the wee hand!!!!
  17. Wasnt me. I know the car you mean though and its a bodykit, when you get close up you can see the lines arent that straight, but yes it does look quite nice! Callum W
  18. My first stint out there will be for about a month, during that Ill sort out accommodation etc, then Ill come back, sort out everything at this end then move out there for good. My employer is sorting out the work visa, medical insurance etc etc so it should be pretty damn good! Ill miss the car though. I could take it with me but RHD in the US is a nightmare. Callum W
  19. Yes it was awesome. I had the spare ticket from the ex so I gave it away in a random act of kindness outside the gig, which led to an interesting evening with a rather attractive Irish woman! I was 2 meters from the front it was out of this world. Are you still in Texas? Im moving to Louisiana next month, only 5 hours away, Ill come up spew on your carpet and we can talk about killing people. Callum
  20. Ticket arrived today. If they are as good as the were in Dublin then it should be awesome. Canny wait!
  21. Very brave Peter! Good luck and I hope it all goes well. Callum W
  22. JohnS did a write up a number of year ago in True Tripe about driving from Ullapool to Tongue and he mentioned lovely wee chalets he stayed at, it may be worth dropping him a PM and finding out but they looked better than a holiday park. Hope you find something Callum W
  23. Im off to Algeria tomorrow, 20 days in the desert, 4 rigs to visit and you can only get to them by fixed wing aircraft. I said to guy who is sorting out the in country travel "Where am I actually going?" he said, " The bit of the Sahara where the 2 guys died on the Paris Dakar rally when they got lost and died from the heat!" Cant wait to get there..........not!
  24. Just Spoke to The Squirrel, hes yer man John. He says if you give him a ring on 07944 079591 he will sort you out. Callum W
