  1. Yes,it was me, heading for a wee blast around argyll. Only 1.6 bar, the missing is cured but im still going to replace my coilppacks and upgrade to 8s. The car is flying I took the squirrel out of the parrots cage today and scared him at an undisclosed location. No doubt he will have something to say. The showa suspension is outstanding, and I doubt I need droplinks or an anti lift kit, but time and a tyre change will tell. Cheers Callum
  2. Ill be there for about 10, a bit earlier, but Robert Rieds estimation of Kames to Stirling was arriving at 10 so his times are probabley better.lol Should have posted up the change but were all flexible, and Paul knew so thats cool. Callum W
  3. Ok ok, im not selling it relax, It was just a comment. and yes paddy I will be proving it worth, without laughing gas. And once Ive done that, I will give it some laughing gas. So work it up ye.
  4. Im going to do all the hoses, because it will just turn into a domino fest and I really cannot be ersed with all the fannying around. Everything else is uprated, just the hoses so they are the obvious weak link, oh and the jubilee clips holding them on as well, they will get launched as well. The coilovers are going to a good home as well, my old bones cannot take it anymore, im putting uprated struts back on. Then I may sell the thing. Any decent offer will be concidered, and Ive only really run it in. Callum W
  5. I hoped everyone would have seen my post, Im sorry I never made it but I had a bit of excitement with flames licking the bottom of my car. Oil was blowing back off of my sump onto my upipe joint and catching fire. The leak was discovered to be coming from where the dipstick goes into the sump and was repaired. However, thats was only the start of the dramas. My top rad hose blew into smithereens and I mean smithereens!! It just wasnt up to the job, so I need a samco one. If that had happened on track at full chat It would have ended in tears. Its a blessing in disguise. Ill have all the niff naff and trivia ironed out by the next one. Sorry if I let anyone down. Callum W
  6. Goodbye. Good luck. Callum
  7. Andy Forrest or Dastek? Thats like asking NASA or Quickfit? lol.
  8. In May 2005 my gearbox said “goodnight and goodluck!” I had just finished fettling an sti7 bottom ended engine in my car and the next thing on the list was a new gearbox.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I gubbed it at crail launching like a tube, and that was the end of that, im not very good at ¼ mile stuff anyway. My quest for a gearbox led me to Greers in Beith, Playsatan had had work done there and was very happy. I phoned Bill and we spoke about all sorts of gearboxes, a price was agreed and a WRC engine was mentioned in the conversation. Satan obviously thought that he could play the salesman and that if he sowed the seeds in my mind Bill would give him a discount. So anyway as it turned out a price was agreed and I popped off to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />America for 6 months. When I was away, weeb popped his engine and asked to buy mine, so it all fitted together nicely. In November Colin Greer Collected my car from my work and took it away, transplanted the engine into weebs car who was very happy with it, and left my car like this. The gearbox and Diffs were built by an ex prodrive man, and the engine was built by another ex works man with an obscure nickname as well. I started to get imapatient as the weeks went on and we were waiting for parts. Bill said “Its not worth doing unless its done right, with the right bits or there abouts” A world manifold was no where to be had, but Stuart and Steve Whitson from Rosslyn came to the rescue and made me one, and a set of 20mm spacers to insulate the manifold from the block. Fuel Rails were converted to -6 and pipework started to appear. One day the engine appeared in the car with the manifold on, the same colour as Andy Fs, (It was made by the same guys after all!) And the Pipework to the fuel rails was all braided. Next I needed a turbo, I showed Bill the 20g I had and he said “That wee thing isn’t going to do your car any flattering favours, your car is going to have a world engine, world cars run 2.4 bar, if you don’t want to rebuild it every 5 min you can Run 1.8/ 2 bar so lets get a turbo which will do some damage!” Where from? Owen developments, they do all the group B cars and in the Rally world Bill will hear of non other. Next a set of superb quality zerosport headers were aquired and the uppipe turned 45 degrees. I also sold the 20g. We then debated an intercooler aps? Convert the pace I had? HKS? The engine was a wrc spec one of, lets keep it as wrc as we can!! My brakes were sold, the PACE was sold and the man who made the 98/99 wrc intercoolers was sought out who said he would make one but only if the proper core was used, ie the one he used in 98/99. Ching ching! It cost a fortune but what an intercooler!! Brakes were now an issue as the car slowly took form. As Colin Greer butchered my car to get everything to fit, I picked up a set of AP 4 pot calipers from ebay for 230 pounds. Mikee Singh sold me a set of 330mm discs and bells and Stuart Whitson made me brackets, Voila!! A set of 330mm 4 pots for £600!! The injectors arrived. Bill bounded out the office “There you go!” What size are the Bill? “decent size” No what size are they “ Just put them on the feckin car!” 740s? “Aye 740s” The link ecu was now looking very old and very limited with this beast. I pondered over it one night over an internet conversation with a man from Ireland I said, This link is going to hold me back, he said “ I wish I could shift this MY93-96 apexi and go back to a link”…………and the deal was struck, after Andy F had confirmed he would convert to mafsim for me(Get rid of the maf by using a box which calculates your airflow from you air pressure in the manifold) I took the squirrel down to see the car he looked pale as he glanced at the cylinder heads. I asked him what was wrong he said after a gulp, “Those are early world heads, even if you machined the early cam covers you couldn’t get them to look like that, they will have wrc spec cams as well. Owens phoned me about the turbo which core do you want? I asked what the research one was putting out 447bhp on optimax Lets go bigger I said. Ok Lee replied If you do some datalogging once its in ill give you a discount, Sweet!! So the turbo went in and Wullie at meercat sweated like a mujahadeen rebel after a good firefight for 2 days to get the downpipe in the right place. How loud? Jason took the phonecall, he glanced at bill who was busy with a customer, I was in the USA again so he whispered, “Lets hear the thing!!” So with everything in place we tried to start in, something was wrong. It was overfuelling like mad and would only run very badly on a standard ecu. Time to call in the big guns. Andy F looked at the map, started the car second attempt and said those injectors are not 740s, there closer to 850s!!! I told Bill, he smiled. I ran the car in and here we are!! There are a few teething problems like a leaky sump but everything is good, ill get some more photos etc tomorrow but here is the full spec, no secrets here. Thanks to Steve and Stuart Whitson, whatever you do is a work of art, the manifold was superb. Thanks to my bank manager for supporting this ridiculous waste of money but which has kept me happy and occupied for the past 11 months. Callum W
  9. I have no idea, need dynoed once we are up to full chat. She is over 450bhp at the moment anyway, thats for sure, but these are pub figures, once she is going the way i want ill dyno her.
  10. Hello Everyone,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Well, Uncle Andrew mapped my car on Tuesday and I am lost for words. Its frightening. Of course im going to say that, and of course im going to bum it up, but it really is, coupled with the Prodrive S2 gearbox and the turbo from Owen developments its pulling like a train. Greersport built the engine to WRC spec along with the Gearbox. Steve and Stuart Whitson made the reverse manifold and the manifold spacers. Not wanting to offend some members who don’t seem to like people talking about whats been done to their car and how proud they are, if you want to hear the story I would happily post a thread as to what has gone on over the past 11 months. If you don’t want to hear it then I wont bother. We only mapped to 1.6bar, we thought a coilpack was away but it turned out to be too big a plug gap. We are going all the way at the end of the month. If you want to hear the story let me know. Callum
  11. Its the travel lodge in Hayle go to the travel lodge websight and book it. Callum
  12. Welcome Stephen Pope.
  13. I have had to withdraw, my baffled sump isnt sealing correctly and is bleeding like Ned Kelly after an arguement with his neighbours. I think is may have warped slightly when it was welded, so ill have to skim it, hit it with a BFH or make another one. A bit of oil drip never hurt anyone, however the flames it creates off the headers does, so Im playing it safe. (Sigh) Maybe next time, but after all this time and effort Im not risking it just to go back to square one again. Callum
  14. Thanks Andy and Andy, Yes it does go rather well, and thats only at 1.6 bar because the coilpacks were shot. I look forward to new coilpacks, and 4 settings on the hand controller for boost 1. mincing about 2. shifting along 3. Knockhill 4. Jesus Christ! No track day Im afraid until the baffled sump gets sorted and I have robbed a bank for coilpacks. Its too soon Callum W
  15. I have just had a phonecall from Robert Reid, Richards co-driver, and he would love to met up with us all on the relay as we reach Stirling. This is outstanding news, we honour the memory of Richard and the other half of the Burns / Reid team will be meeting us. He sounded exactley as he does on PS2 WRC, however i refrained from asking him to say "easy right over crest maybe." We had a good laugh about it though. Look forward to seeing you Robert. Callum W
  16. See you when you get back Son. Ill be up for a blether and my tea. Yer Faither.
  17. ha ha ha ha!! Looked like great fun, all the kneee down cornering seems to have worn out your jeans though!! I hauled out my radiator and put in a new one, rewired my gauges so they light up again and changed oil from mineral for my run in to fully synthetic. Fixed the knacked window winder and freed up my alloy presure caps on the wheels. Scalloped a spare set of pads, polished the car, fretted about the lack of optimax and hoovered my abode. Callum
  18. Cannot find anywhere with optimax in Edinburgh. This is utter shat. Anyone know of somewhere in edinburgh with this stuff? Does Livingstone have any? Cheers Callum W
  19. This is special, lol.
  20. I have some from last year Colin, What I need is some decent gearbox oil, the stuff I have in will do for the remap but Ide rather have millers synthetic or the likes in for it. The modification bugs have eaten deep into my bank balance this month and at the moment i couldnt get out of sight if it cost a penny to go round the world. So if you have any gear oil lying around and could give me it on the never never, I would sort you out on friday when I get paid and not have to hold your axle stands to randsom. I have some gear oil ordered but as i said lack of gelt is stopping me collecting it. Fast car suck, at times they are like a millstone round your neck. Callum
  21. It doent really bother me but yes I can see your point, the PM facility is there for a reason. However someone could be forgiven if they need to get in touch with someone else in a hurry and want to use every means to catch thier attention, eg if they dont have that persons phone number and need help with thier car urgently. Common sense really. Callum W
  22. Very nice. Bet you cannot wait.
  23. Splendid! Welcome. Callum W
  24. Think they are both the same but turbo was what ws asked for.
  25. Ok the G Ball is playing the white man with a burd so to speaks so Im on to plums, an wi a radiator to fit and oil tae square away for the remap on tuesday then its safe to say that unless George Clooney walks in and buggers the ginger knobs chances, and lightning strikes and Kills me then Doune is going to be far flung fantasy. Sorry Ally, The Falcon comes first. Go and play with your golden nuts. Callum Sorry Dude.
