  1. A mate at work has the above car, needs info on how to set Ignition Timing on a 94 ELXI 16V, if possible. Anyone Help?
  2. Must be me then, link did not work here... thanks anyway. Any idea when the next Mag due?
  3. May be just me but I can not get Scooby magazines site to load in my PC and the Mag is overdue (I think). Has the Mag gone Bust.....?
  4. Just about any manual Turbo Impreza will hit 60 in under 6 sec, UK classic that I have with a big exhaust and a K@N pannel will do it nearer to 5 secs. The best thing though is the in gear acceleration, overtaking is a doddle if you use the gears correctly!
  5. Don't race on the Roads mate, it is silly and if you keep doing it the least you will end up with is a ban, worst case scenario you will kill someone. Find an aerodrome or track and get your speed kick there. Have fun but be safe.... ...........Now that sounds a bit rude.
  6. Just notice, Dave is a very common Name! From Dave M AKA Spanners.....
  7. And a sub 4 mpg figure on the Top Gear Test Track! 3000 Mile service Intervals !! If you need to go this fast get a Big Motor Bike!!! Cheaper to run and just as quick.
  8. Pike and Musket, is that the pub on the left as you go towards Street from Bridgwater at Walton? I might make it if the Wife has not got any thing planed for the evening! Put me and the Wife down as provisional, Dave (spanners) plus one (Tracy).. If it is the pub I am thinking of there used to be a newish Blue Scooby parked in it quite often, may have been the Land lords?
  9. Never mind, tomorrow they will all go to Wales to look at the Super Pod of Dolphins! Saw it on the HTV news.....upto 2000 of them in the Sea!
  10. Got a call back from the Police at 8.30 PM, had to repeat details of incident, and that's it as far as I know. The cars not worth the value of claiming on the Insurance (cheaper to get the parts 2nd hand and do it my self, the excess is more). Went out and got a Disklock for it, bent the top of the door back. Tomorrow I will see if I can get a second hand lock/key or put a starter button on the dash if it is cheaper! Scooby oil and plugs will have to wait for the Week end...........
  11. I phoned the Police again and they will contact me after 6 pm! Snowed under with work apparently........I asked if I could secure the car and they said yes, so I have bent the top back on the door and locked it. They might send a crew down to take prints from the inside as well. Ho well of to bed then...........
  12. Me and the Wife have had. Talk about bad luck, I got scalded at work by red hot Juice whilst fixing a filling machine, the Wife witnessed a smash and grab of a small monkey style motor bike yesterday and I got home from work this morning to find someone has had a go at nicking my old runabout, the Cavalier. Bent the door and ripped the barrel lock off. The thing is the barrel lock has not worked for some time, the brass tumblers failed and fell out of it, and last week I had removed the battery to give it a charge as the car has not moved for 3 months, the radio was already out, I had removed it to put it in my Sons car. So they got nothing, and I got a bent door and a broken barrel! The missies insisted I contact the Law so I am now waiting to see when they turn up....... on the plus side the Scooby is OK as I took it to work last night and the misfire that it has had for a time when it get damp has vanished!
  13. Lets hope He was a Bomber and died in agony. I have no time for people who cry out when the Human rights of these terrorists are being violated. In my opinion they have forfeited any rights when they took up arms and started attacking the everyday Man and Woman on the Street. If they had any guts they would fight the armed forces and not do what a coward would do, plant a Bomb. You can have respect for someone that stands up and fight fair , but not these idiots......... The sad thing is that this is going to cause trouble for the innocent Muslims that live in this Country, who are usually law abiding people. I Already have seen on the Local News some of there Mosques have been attacked in Bristol.
  14. My Top Five Are...Apollo 13,The Battle of Britain,The Longest Day,Any Star Trek and Anything with Leslie Nielsen in it!
  15. I did this a while ago and here are my cars and observations ...................................................................................................................................................................................................... 1/Morris 1100 2/Mk 1 Escort 1300 XL 3/Mk1 cavalier 1600 4/BMW 728 5/sierra XR4I 6/Sierra XR4i 7/Thrumph TR7 8/Opel Manta GTE 9/Lancia delta HF Turbo (Still got bits of it!) 10/Mk3 Cavalier SRI (Still got it on the road) and last but not least the UK spec classic Scoooby 2000 turbo AWD! The good reliable cars were the Escort, Mk1 Cav,both XR4i`s,TR7,Opel,Mk3 cav and the Scoob. Fun to drive were Escort, both XR4I`s,Tr7,Opel,Lancia, and of course the Scoob. I have also driven Various other cars some classic and others not quite so good, and I was thinking as I looked back at what I had driven and the most utterly dangerous totally unreliable expensive to keep on the road of this bunch was the ........Lancia! Total rust bucket, parts expensive, £35 for a thermostat for example unless you used FIAT bits in place of the Lancia ones! Went like a bat out of hell if you could keep it on the road, torque steer was horrendous. Loved the car when it was not broken down, funny how you can miss a rubbish car when it is dead! Still the Impreza makes up for that.
  16. Correct me if I am wrong but the newer cars feel more solid to drive because they are! The design for the chassis was changed and made stiffer, which has added weight to the car (not sure how much but have heard it is the same as driving around with an extra passenger on board!!), to the detriment of acceleration. To keep up with a classic you need more power/torque or a lower ratio box/diff in the newer car.
  17. I think I have just worked it out. I have had my car for just about a Year now and have totally enjoyed the expereance! The combination of everything about the car adds up to something that many cars lack today, the feel good factor! The sound of the Engine and Exhaust, the grip and preformance and the wow factor when people you have never seen before give you a thumbs up as you pass them on the Street, never had that with ANY of the cars I have owned before. Before I got the car I tried out an EVO but that was just not the same, went quicker and grip was astounding but it lacked something. So I have the bug now, the next cars going to be a Scooby, and as I own an older UK car (95 Turbo) thing can only get better, got to get one with air con as I nearly melted in the car today, they dont half get hot inside!
  18. If you want more Torque from low revs then a short term (and cheepish) solution might be to have a NOS system put in the car. Modifying the Engine to take advantage of a Super charger (which I am lead to believe the Delta S4 had, ran up at low reves to give extra Torque and disconnected as the turbo kicked in) might be a bit of a major task. I suspect that the cam timing and duration might not be optional on the standard car for such a set up, plus remapping of the Engine would be required. A twin Turbo or a twin Scroll Turbo set up might be a better idea as previously stated. Or a 2.5 ltr transplant. If you ever get a combined Super Charger/Turbo to work it would be something to take pride in though..........
  19. The front end looks grafted on to the older car, don't know if it is an optical illusion but I think the front end looks to long with to much sticking out in front of the wheels, to much overhang. Still might get used to it eventually, in the same way that the Bug eyed cars no longer look weird. Showed my Scooby mag to a few mates at work last night, covered the name and badge on the car and asked them to name it. Almost all of them thought it was an Alfa. Same with the new Tribaca in the mag, back end is almost pure Alfa design, especially the lights. Ho well..........better get used to it.
  20. Only once has any thing like that happened to me, and I have held a licence since 1980. Was stuck at a set of traffic lights and could not go forward when they changed Green due to the exit being blocked and hatching on the road. There was a guy behind me who got out of his car and started to rant at me to get across the junction. When I pointed out to him that exit was blocked and there was a £500 fine for stopping on the hatching he went mental. Said that he would have given me a kicking but for the fact that I had my Girl friend and kids in the back of the car. Just as he was about to have another go at me the lights changed to Green and the exit cleared, I did no more but say "I can go now" and drove off leaving him standing in the middle of the road waving his fist at me. When I got up the road and had to stop at a roundabout he came screaming up behind me and nearly ended up in the back of my Cavalier! That was about 10 Years ago and have not had anything like it since, so unless you happen to see these Idiots on the road again I would not worry to much about it, but if you do then try to get the number plate of the car, possibly a crafty picture on your phone if you have a picture phone. If you are worried about seeing them again then I would vary your routes and times to where ever you were going as most people stick to the same routes to travel from home to work or the shops for example, if they live in your area. If they were just passing through then you probably will not see them again!
  21. Good issue, got mine on Friday and posted a few suggestions on board. Got a reply from Highlander68000 about future articles in Magazine!................................................................................................................................(With regards to the factory - We have got permission to visit - I've just got to build up my air miles - kidding! No seriously, it will be in Scooby Magazine in the not-too-distant future, along with some other stuff never seen before in any magazine. ).................................................................................................. Nice when someone finds the time to reply to you.
  22. Dropped through the letterbox this morning, lots of interesting stuff in it! The standard has held up over its first 6 issues, well done to all involved in it. Would be nice to see an article on the Factory (Or Factories) where the worlds best car is made, the people behind the car from the shop floor worker to the designers and directors of Subaru. Or an article on how the parts that make up the car are manufactured, for example the start to finnish of the manufacture of alloy wheels. Sorry if this sound a bit boring but it is the Engineer in me coming out! Well done Scooby Mag!!!
  23. Thanks for the info on True Grip, any idea where scooby mag is, is it over due now?
  24. When are the latest issues due, as I am waiting for both? I see from some of the other posts that so are some others. Any one know?
