  1. A deer, I mowed one down a couple of years ago on the way back to Bridgwater from Minehead! Was driving my trusty Cavalier SRI with the Wife in it, when Two of the things ran across the road, I hit the big one and it ended up straddled across the bonnet and passenger side wing cracking the screen with its antlers and causing a great amount of damage to the car. Had to force the front wing off the tyre to continue driving Home. The funny thing was when I phoned up my insurance company to put a claim in for repairs and told them I had hit a Stag they asked if the other driver was to fault and if they had suffered injuries! Took me a while to realise that they thought that I had hit a TRIUMPH STAG! When I explained that it was a deer all they seemed concerned about was if the dumb thing was hurt! It looked OK as it ran off into the woods but I was not going back to check...........
  2. I believe, if I remember correctly, that there are limits as to the % of light loss on tinting, darker tint on rear window and rear door glass with a lighter tint on the front door glass allowed. I am not sure as if tinting of the front screen is allowed and not sure as to the allowed % loss of light into car! A mate of mine as done a number of his cars with films and we had this conversation a while ago so the Law may have changed since then. Have you tried a search on the net, if you try Google with a few key words like tinting law UK you will probably find the answers you are seeking!
  3. Talking about cars that we have owned that had that extra bit of class but were cheep to get I used to run a Lancia Delta HF Turbo, smashing car to drive and quick, TOTAL rot box but when it was running it was a cracker!
  4. HPI are OK, nearly got a WRX from a trader in Somerset that had outstanding finance on it so yes do it and they will also tell you on the phone if there is a problem. They put me in touch with the finance people who confirmed that the car was not paid for. The more info you can give them the better, Reg. number, mot cert. number, chassis number and so on. And if they get it wrong then you can reclaim up £10,000 if I remember correctly.
  5. I haven't got a name for it but the wife keeps shouting "Aghhhh slow down" so that's it name now!
  6. Quote "'****iest Idea" in ad, Ha Ha Ha.......nearly cried with laughter when I read it, US slang just doesn't translate to English to well. What is the bet that the UK ad has it changed? But now it is official, Porsche have admitted that there cars are the ****iest. Is this a real ad or a joke or BOTH?
  7. I live in the SW of England so I have missed the worst of the stormy and damp weather, up to now anyway touch wood, and have to live with reduced power and some Sunny days! Shame. Not. It is always the same here, the rest of the Country gets Snowed in or flooded and we get a bit of wind and a few showers. Now I have said that it will pour down here for the rest of the Week!
  8. I believe that it is this weekend, has the club got a display there or is anyone going to it? The reason I ask is that there is, I think, also a cruse on in Weston-Super-Mare and am not which one to attend!
  9. This is only the second car that I have had that has a strange affect on the way other drivers treat me on the road. Before I got my Scooby I had a cavalier SRI and no one ever let my into traffic and the local boy racers were always trying to burn me off at the lights. Took the car to Street in Somerset to day (I live local to the place) and got let in twice by other road users. And since driving the car I cant recall any one trying it on at the lights either........Strange.The other car was a Triumph TR7 that I owner a while ago.
  10. I was up but as I work nights that doesn't count I suppose.........
  11. Looks OK but I hope it sticks to the box, if it delaminates and bits start blowing about in the Engine compartment you may find foil getting into places that may cause problems I.E. the Electric's for example....
  12. When I picked up my used scooby earlier this Year from the dealer in Cirencester it was supposed to have a service. I have been running the car since then and it was not as quick or smooth running as I had hoped for. As I live in Somerset and did not fancy another trip up the road block that is the M4/M5 I decided to have a look myself. Upon removal of the top half of the air filter cover what did I see but a totally clogged up filter similar to a ram air one I.E. a foam filter! Now in its place sit a nice K&N, the fuel consumption has come down and it is a lot smoother running. Give the dealer there due they did sort out the missing immobiliser fobs but still makes you think can you trust them with your pride and joy..........
