Hi Perhaps you knowledgeable people can offer some good advice? A new UK Impreza 2.5 WRX saloon will set me back about £20,000 depending on the deal but can pick up a new 2.5 WRX saloon import for about £15,000. Is it worth spending an extra £4 - £5k for a UK model or is the only difference a bit more on the insurance premium? Thanks.

I'm working today, tomorrow and friday. But there's nothing going on at work so I'm surfing around the web instead.

I do as little as possible but this week I'm doing nothing at all as I am on holiday.

I gave up once. I decided to make it a big thing. I went down onto Brighton beach and chucked my packet of fags and lighter into the sea and walked away feeling very pleased with myself and was thinking of all the extra money I would have. Unfortunately while walking back to my car I felt the need for a smoke and ended up going into a newsagent and buying some more. I think I lasted about 2 hours altogether. A friend of mine who is desperate to give up went to a stop smoking clinic earlier in the week. Apparently they told the class all about the different ways of stopping and the various nicotine replacement treatments available, but then told the people not to try to give up now because Christmas time can be quite stressful for many people and they would have a lower chance of success than if they waited until January to give up. That makes sense to me, I wouldn't think it possible to stop while you were having a stressful time. But good luck - it just takes loads of will power and a good reason to want to quit. - I know several ex-smokers. And a bunch of arrogant. self righteous people they are to.

Same as Robbie. Never listened to that heavy metal stuff so couldn;t comment. Just sounds like a racket to me! Did see Hawkwind and Motorhead at Hammersmith in my youth though. Fortunately seems my ears survived the assault.

Well in 3 of the previous 5 years Ive gone down to the Canaries (Fuerteventura/Lanzarote) for a week and it's always been about 70 and mostly sunny and not much Christmas stuff going on. I get quite depressed during the winter months and find a break in the sun perks me up nicely. Also, the week before Christmas it's quite cheap to go away as people tend to want to go away for Christmas itself and just before Christmas most people are at home doing all their shopping and stuff. Normally get a cheap flight down for under £100 at that time.

But as someone who doesn't celebrate Christmas I shan't be saying any of those things. This weekend I've got to look into flights to sort out my annual escape from the craziness and hype. It's the week before Christmas that gets me down so I normally try and go away around the 18th and come home on Christmas Day itself.

I picked up a couple of multi region DVD players from Amazon at £29,99. Absolutely fine. Needed to type in a code to make them play disks from other regions but pretty easy to do. Theres a few websites that tell you how to hack DVD players so they will play DVDs from other regions -most are hackable in that regard I think. I'm looking for a DVD RW now they are getting cheaper. Slowly dragging myself into the 21st century.
