About Scooby New

  1. Thank for your views. Looking on autotrader the chassic Type R's seem pricey. Just seen a 2002 WRX STI UK Prodrive 29,500 miles FSH 12,495 compared to a 1999 Verison 6 Type R 52,000 FSSH Original spec 12,495 hmm, insurance would be better on the UK one.
  2. Alan Sugar? About 3 months ago saw an ad saying they were looking for people in the second show. Applyed for a laugh, was cleaning out my spam folder about 2 weeks ago and found a reply from the BBC saying that they wanted to see me for an interview. Need to be available for 2 hours. It's tomorrow at 11pm in some hotel in London Going to go for the crack. I'll give my best shot. I'll never get on the show but if I did by some strange twist of fate I'll have my scooby by then and make sure it gets some air time
  3. Thanx all I shall continue the subaru quest. Can't really go as far as a Blobeye. The STI 6 Type R had an optional carbon dash and gauges but the changes of standard one of them with FSH coming up are low me fears
  4. Hi, hope everyone is ok. Still the best and most help forum I know and love. Can't decide whether or not to get a STI WRX Verison 5 or 6 Type R or go for an updated bug eye WRX STI. Where much changes to the engine + gearbox for the bug eye WRX STI? It's a phase II boxer still? Haven't really done any research on the bug eye yet Think the Type R 5/6 chassic shape myself but wondered if any of the expects and helpful people knew of any reasons to buy the bug eye WRX STI?
  5. Yeah crap tranny. That Race Aston Martin that they had last week would of rocked. They should be trying to spot testing of sports models those ones with black tape on.. Apparently Toyota and Nissan are testing the new Supra or LF - 1 or what ever it is and the Nissan the new GT-R. Competition is so strong between the rivals that the engineers were dualing for position on a shape bent and nearly had a crash with each other.
  6. Thanks Playsatan 2. I will take the words of warning. I'll probably need to learn how to drive one. I won't be nailing it on bends or in the wet for a while. Must be like driving a real wheel drive car, I bet they can bite if you suddenly get some traction and leap off into a hedge. I most certainly won't be wanting to right it off in the first couple of day with rushes of blood (touches wood). I was ok in the Pulsar and that was 280bhp shorter wheel base but has ABS. I think more power went to the front wheels though judging by the rate the tyres went. Thanks for the warnings again.
  7. hopefully when I find a good one and get the ECU remapped for RON 98 I'll come out to some meets if peeps do that. Feel a bit old for that but would be interesting to see other peoples car specs. Get munchies. Hehe So you've got the carbon option that came with the STI 6 Type R. Cool. Some RA's would of had air con because it looks as if it was an option.....ffs..lol
  8. Hehe, nice wheels. That's picture looks well smart. You should take pictures for car mags . Indeed, I'm never going to be able to decide now what to go for. Got down to a couple though. I read that they switched to the 2 door late on in the WRC. I like the 2 door. Either of these 2. http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/download/sti5ra/4and5.jpg or this one http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/download/sti5/26.jpg Could really do with knowing the differences between Type RA/R and Limited Type RA/R. Any one read in japanese please? lol Was going to try the local taker way...lol
  9. hehe cheers. I think that STI Type R does actually get all the STI Type RA bits DCCD, etc + creature comforts. I'm going to have a good read, shame most of the brochures are in Japanese :< Still some bits are in English and I love the pictures of the transmission and boxer-engine. Thanks again.
  10. << Mine isnt an sti version its a wrx limited ra (does seem to have some sti bits on it though). If you are looking at a late model sti r/ra limited its get a few extra toys over mine : dccd - driver control centre diff - means you can change the power split to front and back wheels via a slide button on the dash water spray - to keep intercooler temps down you have a button which you can spray water on the rally roof vent - mini sunroof (only slow speed though iirc) no abs - not compatiable with the dccd system (mine has abs) spec change year to year and model to model you are right its a bit of a nightmare. >> Now I'm really really confused. I Thought yours had the above bits and aircon, elec window etc. Damn you Subaru......!
  11. This is just 'f'ing awesome. You've probably if not definitely in my eyes got the best scooby out of the lot! I thought the type R was better because of the creature comforts. Oh right, I thought gauges where standard. I'm convinced! Just need to make sure when I see one I don't get the old 'I NEED IT NOW' syndrome rather then I need the best one I can get.
  12. Chrisp those picture slook smart. Stop teasing! Have you got factory fitted gauges? I can't afford the Verison 6 RA Limited but I could the Version 5 RA Limited. I've only seen a few Version 5 RA Limited's on autotrader in the last month. Swear I read that the RA didn't get the good bits. I can't believe I've overlooked the RA 'Limited'. Now I'll be looking out for one! I do like the WRX stickers though near the wheels on the 'R'. I'll test drive both!!! Do I buy trade or private do you think? I need to take Chrisp with me...lol
  13. What it probably really is, is that I know buying an R / RA is probably not the best idea but by coming here I'm sort of trying on convince myself. Or getting you guys too...lol I really appreciate the help. I've had really bad experiences with cars in the past. One has been in Fast Ford. Spent 000's. I love fasts but they always seem to go wrong. I have neglected cars in the past and paid heavily also for the RON 95/RON 98 ecu issue when I lost an engine. I've promised myself that I will look after this car really well. I love the boxer engine + exhaust sound as much as the acceleration
