hi all after reporting the fault with the car the other night, it was indeed the idle control sensor that has gone. but unfortunately after i get this fixed the car will have cost me the guts of £2k since I got it last Nov all for faults and not normal wear and tear....so I think my time with Scoobydom may be coming to an end....I simply cant believe how much parts cost for this car...and frankly I'm not prepared to spend any more on it after this..... will keep you all posted... cheers Paul

Davie Still not sure mate to be honest. Went over to Wilkys last night and he seemed to think that was the problem. My engine though is different to the diagram you sent me so we countdnt take it of. But Duncan is going to stick it on the the diagnostic tom night and let me know what the problem is..... cheers PAul

Col Been on holiday mate.... Yes I do have the basic damper kit....and it is fantastic......happy to meet up with you bud if you want a shot in my car to see what its like.....got it fitted at Hypertech excellent service as usual from Duncan, went for the entire set up as it was cheaper than replacing 2 sti shocks alone.....drop me a pm if you want my mobile number and we can chat about it further.... cheers Paul

cheers davie.......hopefully even a numptie like me can follow that one...pictures I like....... took it out for a run tonight as it was Jo who had the car earlier today....it sounds like it could be the fault...as Graeme said earlier...when approaching a roundabout... slowing down the car then revs itself anywhere between 1100-1900 rpm.....making taking of in low gear afterwards very juddery......the car has been sitting for two weeks in the dry weather got very very dusty...and seeing your picture it could be dust blowing through the scoop that has dirtied the sensor..... failing that I will try and get the fault code...thanks for your help... will give it a blast and let you know tom.... cheers one and all Paul

If I even knew where or what the idle control valve was I would clean it.... sorry bit of a technical numptie..... will take it to Hypertech over the next few days....

Is it safe to drive for a few days with limited mileage?????????

MArtin Got the battery changed but the car ran for over a week on the new battery and all was fine...just had another look at the idle....it seems to be very erratic between 9-1800rpm......do I really need to go to a dealer or could Hypertech or somebody like that look at it...??

HI folks Just came back from holiday late last night. The scoob has been parked up for the last 2 weeks and was fine before I left. When swithching on the car the Check Engine Light has came on and stays on when the car is running. It seems very jerky in 1st 2nd gear but seems to clear when speed picks up. The car is mega low on fuel and I'm wondering if this is the problem......any help would be appreciated. just cant understand what has happened if the car hasnt moved in 2 weeks..... I take it I shouldnt drive until sorted....but how to I get the car to someone to look at...??? Paul

Hpathetically if I was to remove the battery from my car for around a week or so would it have any detrimental effect on the car, or would everything spring back into life when reconnected? cheers Paul

Hi all Its funny how you forget things isnt it? Woke up this morning and my 01WRX was dead to the world....thought it was the battery and tried to jump start it....after 5mins gave it a crank and I had enought power to turn the radio and the lights etc on but the car just wouldnt kick in.....If there is enough charge for the lights etc should the car not fire up..... and the other thing that is really confusing me is........I cant remember if the digital speedo section of the dash stays illiminated with the keys out of the ignition....because mine does....this might be the source of the battery drain.....any ideas?????? the car is stranded in my drive so any assistance would be appreciated.... thanks Paul
