  1. The wiring adapter harness you have should have 2 plugs on it - a male and a female. Find the similar looking plugs under the dash (you'll need to take the steering cowling off) and unplug them, then plug the wiring harness in between them to complete the circuit again. Am I making any sense? The plugs you undo will lead to the ignition barrel. Dave
  2. Aha, that was going to me my next question! Beat me to it ! []
  3. I fitted a Blitz one to my P1. You need to buy a wiring harness with it, which effectively just splices into the ignition circuit. Fairly straight foward to fit, if you've got the wiring bit. Dave
  4. If you can feel a reduction in power, there's likely to be a fair bit of detonation present I'd guess. I wouldn't panic, but a knocklink is a very cheap warning system in my eyes ! Dave
  5. That's been my experience certainly. I sometimes go a good few weeks without using the car, and often find it dets more after the break. I rarely completly fill the car up for that reason. Dave
  6. Did you work for Lucas? (or whatever they're called now!?!)
  7. p.s. I'm sure Ray Smith Audio could also do it (down near Meadowbank/Abbeyhill), but it's not likely to be the cheapest option!!!!
  8. I made up a set of spacers for my 165 Focals a while ago, and it wasn't too tricky. As long as you have a jigsaw or something similar to cut the round holes in the MDF, you're laughing. I'll have a dig in the garage tonight and see if I can find the spacers, as I probably have them lying around somewhere (I took the speakers out my last car and haven't fitted them to mynew ones yet). I'll take some pics so you at least have an idea how I did it. Dave
  9. Very nice. These Subaru things really hook you in don't they !! []
  10. Ok, I see it now. The original link at the top just said "TOTB". It'll be a worthwhile event to travel to as well though I expect!
  11. Will hopefully make it down to TOTB this year, as I missed it last year due to some problems with the Skyline []. (Sorry Lindsay!!!). Unless you're running 400bhp+, I wouldn't bother entering, but definitely worth a trip down to watch. Some awesome machines there, and if we can get all our cars to finish, we might even be in with a chance of the title. The EVO's won last year !! Reliability should be the name of the game this year I think. Dave
  12. I use Dreghorn too, so you could be right Andy. Although I'm fairly sure I also use the one in morningside recently and had the same problems !?! Perhaps the same tanker? Filled up in S Queensferry last night, but haven't had a proper chance to open it up yet to check for sure, but I'm sure I still saw a few unfamiliar lights flickering last night on the way home.
  13. I feel for you mate. Most of my 'unexpected' expenses on my scoob have been down to mindless to55ers!! Rear spoiler on the P1 went walk about, passenger side mirror knocked off (kicked I think), badges on my skyline went missing, plus the usual dings and scuffs from carparks, despite parking MILES away from the supermarket normally. An unfortunate side-effect of having a nice car []. I really can't work out the mentality. If I see a nice car - I admire it. Why would you want to damage it!! Beats me!! Dave
  14. Chris, Have you done an ECU reset since the "bad" tanks ? I'm assuming the new age scoobs are the same as the classics and have a memory for the retardation settings? Dave
  15. I'd agree with you Andy. My last 3 tanks have been a nightmare, and they've been from all over Edinburgh. I normally don't bother with OB at all with the P1 (it's completely standard), but I've been putting some in recently as the det has been so bad. Interestingly, I had to put Esso Super in it last night, as I'd run it a bit low, and it wasn't det'ting at all (only rev'd it high once to check, but low KL lights were only just flickering) !! I only put in enough to get me to a Shell station, but I'm now wondering if I'd be better with the Super !! I'll certainly be watching the knocklink closely and might try the Esso Super again properly to see if it's better. Dave
  16. Johnny, I touch goats bud (and email........ and text !! [] ) Dave
  17. C'mon guys, were your figures THAT BAD !!!!???!!!! Dave
  18. All the best mate. Will drop you a line if I make it out West in May. So far only planning an east coast visit, but who knows !! Bon Voyage ! Dave
  19. Congrats lock stock. Have fun with the beast when it arrives!
  20. He could be a couple of days on the M6 with the RA gearing !!! [] [] All be worth once it's home though []
  21. In 6 years of subaru meets, I've never been to an unfriendly one, so please don't think it's common place. What Chris described in England was how it used to be around here too, and could be again. There will always be dis-agreements online, but if you've got any sense you ignore and move on. Life's too short to try and get on with everyone!!! Enjoy what we've got in common, and ignore any differences - that's my motto (for today anyway [] ) Dave
  22. Has to be at least 18's Paul. 17's sometimes look to small on a classic, let alone a bug. Dave
  23. Try these guys... http://www.carparts-uk.com The site contains parts from yards all over the UK, and even if you don't find the part online, you can send a free part request that goes to an even wider audience. I've used it before and found parts successfully. HTH Dave
  24. OH YEAH!!!!! So Mini Motos Put your name here :- 1. Sti_Bandit 2. kart_man 3. kart_man's mate Kev (we were coincidentally discussing this last night!!) And Honda Pilots Names Here :- 1. Sti_Bandit 2. 4Hero 3. Scoobyandy 4. kart_man Here are a few places advertising said events...... http://www.bedlamweekends.co.uk http://www.edinburghstagandhen.co.uk/ What happened to the paintball idea that was floated a few weeks back? Dave
  25. Personally I think the current divisions are fine. - The "FOR SALE/WANTED" have been split out for obvious reasons - not everyone wants to read this (well we all want to, but can't always afford to !!! [] ) - Events are split out so they're easy to spot. And then generally the things in Scottish Scoobies, are things Scottish related (in some way). Perhaps sometimes the scottish link is the fact it's being posted by someone in Scotland, but that's good enough for me! It's not that hard to filter through I don't think. If you want technical advice, use the main technical section. If you want local technical advice, use the SS section. I think the risk is that we end up with too many forums and SS becomes very fragmented. I personally think the mixture of local issues and banter works pretty well (with a few exceptions!), but perhaps that's just me. A Scottish Muppets section might be a good plan however, along with a Scottish Virtual Boxing Ring section !!!! [] All said without prejudice and is obviously my personal opinion only! [] Dave
