Let me know if you're about guys. Oz mobile number is Oh four Oh four 826 084. Will be in Perth from Midday tomorrow (Sunday). Cheers!! Dave
  3. They'd probably invalidate the warranty for having mudflaps fitted anyway !! To55ers !!
  4. Totally depends on the type of driving you enjoy mate. R32 is the oldest and smallest/lightest. Consequently has the best performance potential, but looks pretty dated these days in my opinion. R33 is a nicer looking car, but as Spooks pointed out, a bit bigger than the 32. Describing it as lardy is perhaps a bit harsh, as it still drives like a very nimble car, but at the end of the day it is carrying a few extra kg's over the 32. R34 is the newest, and if you can afford one, go for it. It has a 6 speed box, higher spec turbos and although it isn't much lighter than the 33, has the edge because of a few tweaks. It also looks the danglies!! Really depends what you want to do with the car, and the kind of budget you have. If you drive a lot of fast flowing a-roads NOTHING will beat a gtr. If you tend to do more town driving and tight b roads, the scooby probably has the edge. Looks are down to personal taste obviously, so that's down to you. I like them both for different reasons. I think everyone should own a gtr in their lifetime, as they are a masterpiece of Japanese engineering. Shouldn't really be saying this on a scooby board, but they are in a different class to scoobys, as they build quality is impecible. But hey, that's why they're 60k new and not 30k!! As you mention, there are some seriously good bargains out there, and if you are serious about having one - get in touch. I have an R33 that has just had an R34 engine, turbo and gearbox fitted, so has the advantages of the 34 without the price tag!! BTW, I've had several scoobies over the years and currently have a P1 and an R33 (for about 4 years each), and it breaks my heart to sell either of them as they are both such good cars. Unfortunately I really need a hatch back now so one definitely needs to go as 2 2 door cars isn't the most sensible garage to have!! At the end of the day, drive one and see what you think. There are a lot of dogs out there though, so beware! Don't be put off by one if it feels cr@p - the chances are there's something wrong with it as a good skyline will never feel cr@p !!! Wing your way over to www.gtr.co.uk and pick up some tips. Friendly place, and some good advice flying around. My final word on the subject is to bear in mind they are still quite rare cars, so if you like turning heads, the skyline is way ahead again (especially the 34 !!). Nothing will beat an R34 in Bayside Blue for jaw dropping looks - they're awesome!!! Apologies to any dyed-in-the-wool sccoby lovers - but I'm just giving my opinion. At the end of the day a scooby is a rally car, a Skyline is a road going GT car. Both are top of the class in their fields - it just depends what you want!! [] HTH! Dave
  5. Have a surf around here mate... http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/16307.html HTH Dave
  6. Interesting. Did you get a name for the chappy at Subaru Warrnties that you spoke to? Dave
  7. I have to say, I can appreciate both sides of this arguement. There is a very 'cliquey' feel to SS now, I'd have to agree on that point. Some people like creating their own little private clubs within clubs - that's just life unfortunately. Not my cup of tea personally, but it's not likely to change, so I deal with it by ignoring it and reading something of interest instead - If people want to talk about their goat fetishes, fine. Personally I'd prefer it was kept to PM or SN muppet section, but I can ignore it and move on, as long as it doesn't get to a stage where every 2nd thread is being screwed up with drivel. I have to say I don't get as much enjoyment out of the club as I used to, but time's move on, people move on and hopefully it'll go full circle and come back to being more fun again at some point. The whole "Subaru Club" is growing, and I guess the end result of that is more potential for conflict between individuals as there are more individuals to conflict! I'm not giving up on it, as I still enjoy popping my head in here from time to time, but I do feel more of an 'outsider' than I used to. Perhaps that's just because I don't have as much time to post as I used to, or perhaps it's because I don't make as much time to post as I used to!! Another possibility I guess is that the age range of Subaru owners is constantly widening. When I got my first, it was pretty unusual for anyone in their 20's to have an impreza. Now, pretty much anyone can afford one, which throws another variable into the mix. It doesn't bother me, but it does mean that there's one less common constant to tie everyone together. I'm not being ageist, but people in their 40's, don't necessarily find certain things as funny as they would when they were 20. It doesn't make it wrong, but it does highlight another difference that is emerging. Again, another reason why there's potentially more conflicting opinions. On a final note, I don't believe it has anything to do with East/West, it's just coincidental that the cliques currently appear to be more west coast based than east. Perhaps it's due to population, perhaps it's just a west cost thing - I don't know and don't care quite frankly. What I do know is that I've made some good friends here over the years, so I'm going to stick around and see what happens. Once I get a bit less busy, I'll probably get involved in organising meets/events again at some level or another, but until then I'll try and support the ones that are going on and keep the club together. A bit more variety for the types of meets is perhaps what's required, but that all takes time, and that seems to be a scarce commodity in most peoples lifes these days. Kudos to the guys who make the time - you're keeping the club together which is great as far as I'm concerned. Don't know if I've added anythng to the thread, but there's a few opinions to chew on anyway. Dave
  8. Yep, anyone with a reasonable working knowledge of the automotive industry could be a good candidate. I'll try and get a rough job description up shortly.
  9. LOL, I'd forgotten about that. Donut ! []
  10. Yeehah ! 1. STi_Bandit 2. kart_man Great day out. As a guidleine, costs are likely to be in the £20-£30 range (depending how trigger happy you are and how many games we go for). Worth every penny though - and it's not as sore as some people make out so don't be put off by that!! [] Dave
  11. Comisserations Brian ! What did you do to deserve that !?!?! [] Just kiddin' - congrats. Don't let it get in the way of your rehersals though... at least not until after next weekend ! [] Dave

  13. Very nice job mate. I'm always in 2 minds about leather in a sporty car, but that does look the business, I have to say. Reminded me of some pics I saw the other day while browsing new car ideas.... http://www.audi.co.uk/newcars/gallery.jsp?...=/models/a4/rs4 (image 2, or the 360 tour) - lovely !!! []
  14. The 22B IS the ultimate impreza, no doubt about it in my eyes. Interested to see where the passenger airbag is hiding on this example though!! Is it inside the dash cubby box ?!?!? Trivia for the day ... anyone know what the hexadecimal equivalant is for 555 ? []
  15. I'd have to disagree with you this year. The racing's been damn good if you ask me ! OK Alonso got off to a great start, but the championship could still go anyway.
  16. OUCH !! Saying that, I've seen worse damaged ones being repaired and put back on the road !! []
  17. Looking good mate. Releasing the burble is next on my list of car things too, but will probably be into June if I'm realistic!
  18. I had one on a wagon a few years back and as far as I can remember the towbar metalwork replaces the rear bumper bar, so you basically need to take the whole bumper/bar assembly off (4 bolts accessibly from underneath), then unclip the bumper from the bumper bar (quite fiddly if I remember correctly) then refit the bumper to the towbar metalwok, and refit. Wasn't too bad a job IIRC. Dave
  19. Personally, I'd always have a shot at selling it privately as Grant says. An Autotrader ad is only £50 or so, and you're going to hit a big audience. If you get no luck, then go to a dealer and see what they'll give you. You will never get what the car is really worth from a dealer, as they know they're a convenient route, and at the end of the day, they need to make something on it too!! I think you have an advantage with the P1 though, as it is a bit more unusual than the run-of-the-mill Subaru, so should generate a bit more interest than normal. A dealer would be the last resort I think! (although you could always get a price from them first, and then at least you know your worst case scenario!). HTH, Dave
  20. Sounds a bit like he sh@t himself when you mentioned the 'help' from fellow SN'ers so decided to sed it after all !!
  21. The clothing was top notch, and I can't thank Imy enough for organising the previous batches - I totally appreciate how much hassle it is trying to collect orders/money etc. If you want to see some samples Martin, give me a shout and I'll show the items I got last year. (long sleeved t-shirt and zipped fleece). :-) Dave
  22. Nice. Shame they're only 16's though [] - I might be tempted otherwise!
  23. Someone must have some pics of the RB5 boot space, so we can put this one to rest !!! PLEASE !!!!!
  24. Don't suppose you work for PGS do you Lock Stock? Got a mate who works for them who's out in Angola just now!
