The only scoob I'd replace the P1 with, I have to admit. The beefed out arches look awesome. Sadly, not mine though []
-
Mine was in a P1 (sti6 effectively). Usually I'm in the low 200's though to be honest!
-
Nope, I was in a P1. Passed through on Friday afternoon, then came back the A1 on Sunday []

That's what was amazing - I wasn't driving for economy at all !! Just cruising down to Newcastle and back with a bit of trundling around and fun in between. I never usually measure it to be honest, but this was a "full tank to light on" job, and I reset the trip when I filled. Well chuffed. This week I'm going to see how low I can get it !!! Any track days on soon? []

I've always been of the opinion that there isn't a particularly rigid spec adhered to when Subarus are being built (at least not in the early classics). There seem to be so many fluctations in the spec's of the 'same spec' cars, that I sometimes wonder if they just used what was lying in the parts bin on the day !! I've seen RA's which are virtually ready to fit a cage to and rally, whereas some have (factory) stereos, sound proofing, speakers A/C etc. I'm not sure anyone can give you a definitive spec of the early classics to be honest!! To answer the original question...... buy a P1 !! www.p1woc.co.uk []

Fork me, I managed a draw dropping 301 miles to the last tank!!! Have shell doubled up their dose of OB in optimax to make up for forgetting to put it in last month !?! And that was a mixture of driving too - mostly motorway, but some fun on the Coldstream road too - I couldn't believe it ! The regualr light det'ing I was getting last month has disappaeared now too [] [H]

That is shiny! Mine used to look like that !!!!! [:$]

It's all down to the turbo and engine type really. The turbo puts more air into the engine, so you can consequently put more fuel in. If you drive on the turbo all the time, you use more fuel - simple as that! Taking it to the extreme, a Formula 1 car is lighter and has a smaller than your merc, but you really don't want that fuel bill !!!! []. The responsiveness and acceleration you get with an impreza makes it all worth it though, as VICKI says. Drive one then try NOT to buy one !! If you want to see a selection of different shape and styles, come to the Edinburgh meet tonight at the Fairmile Inn, Edinburgh. There should be quite a selection there to peek at and we're a pretty friendly bunch [] HTH, Dave

Personally I don't do a huge number of miles, and I see the car as a "hobby" as well as a mode of transport. A tank a week =£200 a month, which doesn't cripple me - simple as that. If you smoke a pack of fags a day, you're pretty close to that. I don't smoke - so there's my justification!! []. I don't know if you do smoke, but if you do, just give up then you can afford the fuel bill !
-
If you're looking for economy, you're looking at the wrong kind of car! The EVO's and Skylines are even worse!!
-
I tend to get 200 - 250 miles to the tank with mixed driving. I've had 300, but only on a long trip, being 'sensible'. I think the tank is 50 litres, but I don't tend to run it dry. Actually seems quite 'frugal' compared to the Skyline !!!

Nice looking motor. []

Welcome aboard mate. Enjoy. []

Sorry to hear your news, but it does sound suspiciously like a big end away. Mine went 3 years back (sti 5), and it was actually a blown piston, which subsequently took out the big end. I chose the "replace engine" route, as the repair option was too much of a potential black-hole!! Cost me 2k for the engine back then, but prices have dropped significantly since then. Try Glenburgie Subaru in Forres. He's usually got a few sti's in stock. www.glenburgie-subaru.co.uk HTH DAve

First time I've been online since Sunday, but some great racing in Bahrain. Hopefully the rest of the year will be as good. Could go any way this year I reckon! []

I've got RAC Trackstar on the P1, and I've not had any trouble with flat batteries etc. .....and the car often sits for a month or more unused. It's not so much peace of mind (as they'll still steal it ever if it has tracker as it isn't advertised on the car), but it is nice to know that the little scroats might get caught if they do steal it. Also gives you more options when renewing insurance. I pay a tenner a month for my subscription. HTH Dave

Help I need an exhaust manufactures in North East
dave_morgan replied to WagonBlue's topic in Scottish Scoobies
I'm pretty sure Glenburgie in Forres do exhausts. www.glenburgie-subaru.co.uk HTH, Dave -
Sorry to hear that Neil, but I can totally appreciate where you're coming from. It's a fun place to be, but time vanishes pretty quick in here !! Pop in from time to time to say hi though - wouldn't want you to miss the next kart meet ! It would nearly half the number of sidc entries !! [] One thing before you reduce your hours though .... you'll need to give someone else some photoshop lessons !!! [] Dave

My ciggy lighter stopped working a while ago when I was running my tyre pump compressor thingy through it, so I suspect the wiring is a bit sheet behind there. Not had a look yet, but I'm expecting to see a few scorched wires []. Hard wiring is probably a better idea. Just find a reasonbly well fused feed under the dash somewhere.
