I posted a negative comment on the thread which I'd like to retract and apologise for as I possibly jumped the gun in my frustration last week. As my warranty claim is now under appeal, it would be unfair to pass judgement and direct any negative comments towards Subaru Warranties or Subaru dealers at this stage. Welcome aboard Joe. Leave your diff on the 'free' setting. From memory, the dash should show a green circle. If it's showing a yellow symbol, it's wound forward a bit which will make it a little less tail happy (ie safer in the wet) but not a good idea for the dry. NEVER use it in the lock setting unless you're on snow or gravel. Take a look through the SIDC FAQ pages, as from memory there's a pretty good section about the diff in there. See you around ! Dave
