  1. i had a great day on track... i'm still grinning yeah had a wee "moment" going into the right hander before the chicane too fast and the back swung out 90 deg to the left... managed to catch it, the car pinged back, was facing the right way and managed to get round the chicane lol dont think there were any cars around me, it happened too quick and was more concerned about not rolling into the gravel. unnerved me for a bit but got into my stride again. must admit the best time i was out was around 3pm, 2 hours into the session... all the fast cars had either broken or were in the pits and i had a good couple of laps without having to pull over and let other cars pass. nice to see and speak to those I managed to speak to, old and new faces thanks to JohnS for organising another fab trackday thanks to ally-b's pal Donald for the donation for the pax lap thanks to Grant for doing all the pre-track checks for me and the coaching around the track even though I got told off for pointing at Spooks and Dale when I drove past them... "get both hands on the wheel"
  2. i dont think we need one
  3. good stuff. They're a nice bunch what was the problem in the end?
  4. well I'd taken the car out to see how she handled with the new mods couple weeks back and the RA stuck to the road like a wee go-kart but she was sometimes hesitating under load, usually in 4th gear and around 4-5k rpm. cue a "omg i'm booked on track on the 15th.. it must be sorted by then and we dont have much time" panic and Grant kindly looked the car over for me he said its not the MAF and nor the spark plugs... could be the wee hole in the exhaust or the coilpacks. went to Hypertech this morning and Duncan was like yup, its the coilpacks, no probs I've ordered the parts for you and they are sitting here. He fitted new ones, took it out and said problem sorted and btw the car handles really well! so thanks to the guys at Hypertech for squeezing me in, from the looks of the cars they had in the garage it seemed like everyone was rushing to get things done before the trackday on Sat. also thanks to JohnSt for letting me borrow the coils off his car at short notice. I'll drop them off over the weekend. hopefully that should be me set for Sat, just need to budget for new brake discs and tyres post-KH now
  5. Scott sorry to hear you have decided to stand down I've really enjoyed both you and Rosie's friendships and will defo keep in touch. You've been a great inspiration and have the qualities of a true RO. Your enthusiasm and dedication will be missed. Hope you stick around, that laugh of yours always makes me laugh too Ickle Rose, you are the SS mum and we've had some great times. I'll pop round for a cuppa and a blether next time I'm out your neck of the woods
  6. hope you enjoy the new car as much as you enjoyed the old one. oh and you're only kidding yourself with the 'no mods' thing lol i'm anticipating a detailed CS-post about new-baby-adaptability-capabilities-of-the-wagon in a couple of months time
  7. good news Higgy. you must be over the moon , I'm happy for you
  8. good stuff good on ya for getting it mapped to 97RON, it was something I had thought about doing
  9. ooh this is new hello everyone
  10. ooh the thread's been pinned! must mean its useful lol ok, I've found the thread I was thinking about clicky for "Top tips for a newbie" ah the banter... the age old "classics vs newage" jabs lol lets not go there, there's no clear winner. Guess our opinion is in the car we've chosen to drive
  11. was chatting to some newbies at last night's Glasgow meet and realised that they didnt know the extent of what Scottish Scoobies do. we actually do loads of car stuff, from track days to monthly runs, from social & charity events to putting on a stand at various car shows over the summer months Hope you enjoy scooby ownership as much as we do there's loads of information on the forum, do a search as I'm pretty sure any questions you have will already have been asked (and answered) by someone else. also recall Playsatan starting a thread about 'top 5 car tips for newbies' - will see if I can dig it out.
  12. good news Simon. car looks great with those black wheels. I was squinting at the before and after pics going "has he shrunk his wing mirrors..." but realised that they were just folded over lol duh!
  13. agreed. reminds me of a pull I got where I was asked to get into the police car... nothing sinister, they were just checking that the car belonged to me cos a blue classic was stolen the night before and were checking my details tied into their details.
  14. kai, welcome from another chinese scoob owner (tho I'm female) you've been through quite a few scoobs Grant, at least you remember which phrase means hello and which phrase is a sweary one Graeme, your spelling is ok lol
  15. welcome
  16. sorry you had to sell the scoob Steve
  17. ooh yeahhhh Pleased the Type R is staying in the club. dont think you'll need to do any mods to this car Rich
  18. george dude, how many cars do you need!? well, at least they are all classics
  19. john-kebab nemeisis, Grant, thanks for writing up the reviews. I was one of the minority that liked the hatchback and had a suspicion that folk will change their minds when they see it in the flesh/get behind the wheel it doesnt take much (even for me!) to realise that a smaller car will handle better/be nimbler on the road. hopefully the introduction of this model in the WRC will boost the marque's standings in the championship and the increasing number of test drives that us lot will have changes the initial negative reaction to the car
  20. looking good John
