  1. I ran them in the wet at knockhill when it was only a couple of degrees above freezing. Comedy bad is the only word for it. It was a good laugh, just no grip what so ever. I did change them for my spare wheels which have T1r's after that. Massive improvement. They do have excelent grip in the dry though. They also take a lot longer to overheat than normal road tyres. Ususally dropping a couple of PSI helps this. The edges do go a cool purple colour when they get really hot Scott
  2. Flat planned crank- Thanks for the other pictures. Loving your work! Good day and i think we were lucky with the weather. Some questionable driving standards, i have seen worse at hot marques though. At least the marshals were making good use of the blue flags. Good to meet you JW, sorry to hear you had trouble with the car Scott
  3. Cracking pics mate. Love the one of me. Number 9 Any more?
  4. Ill keep an eye out for you mate. See you there
  5. Ill be there on saturday. Have been to quite a few hot marques. U will see a lot of familiar faces. Most of the SE guys who attend the SIDC days will be there. Especially if its dry. I would not say the pace is significantly quicker than the SIDC days, you do get the mega power bruce's taxis and the odd high powered porker i.e. 600+ hp. I do find the driving standards not quite as high though. Always a lot of red flags. The elies and subaru owners are as well mannered as ever when it comes to moving for faster cars. This is often not the case for the other cars. They do not make such a big deal about letting faster cars through as john does at the briefing. Scott
  6. I use my car for track days only. And the odd blast down the back roads. I have a E46 M3 for daily use. A lot more comfortable than the track day impreza.
  7. I believe he fcuked the car. Suspension and body shell. And compacted or cracked a couple of the co-drivers vertibrae.
  8. Interesting thread I suppose this is a bit like one of the conflicts that will go on for ever without either side agreeing. Its just like marmite, you will not change somones mind by presenting facts. Although... Fact! They are all great cars, just different I had 2 new ages which were every day cars. Now i have a classic as a track day car. Always prefered the looks of the classics and the fact they were lighter. I also like the rawness of the classic. I do find it much more fun on track. Although there is not much standard car left now. I think they are a better starting point for a track day car. Not sure if i would like to drive one every day though. I wonder if evo owners fight about the 10 different evolutions of thier cars??????? That must get a bit out of hand.
  9. Brilliant write up cal Some total car porn there. Should be marked as ' not safe for work'
  10. Great pics, as always mate. Did you get any of the red classic? Scott
  11. Hello and wellcome mate
  12. Im thinking of doing a couple of hillclimbs or sprints. Love track days but im thinking of doing something competitive. Maybe even next years time attack. I have a new engine on the way Have been doing a few autotests in a wee 205. Great laugh and im starting to get better. 2nd last in 1st test, kept going wrong way! Bottom 3rd in second test, too busy having fun. Made more of an effort in 3rd test and won my class. Just like school. 'Scott would do well if he paid attention' Have also been thinking about getting the track day car turned into a rally car. Have really caught the bug. Car is not too far from it now anyway. Of course it would signal the end of any money i have, ever!! So to sum it up. Im not sure what the hell im going to do. Ill just enjoy myself while i make up my mind. The highlight will be spa and the ring in october
  13. Great picture flat-plannedcrank. Thats my mechanic driving. Was showing him the ropes on the circuit. Im quite lucky, not many people get to bring along an ex WRC mechanic to track days
  14. Great pictures mate. Did you get any of the red classic impeza with irish plates? Scott
  15. Hi mate I would deff be interested. Have never been to croft. Who is running the day? Scott
  16. Think many car insurance policys have an exemption from the ring. Its actually a 1 way public toll road. Because of the ammount of accidents the exclusions are in place. Worth checking your policy. If your going to the ring. BE CAREFULL about learning it on the ps2. GT4 has 3 or 4 corners wrong. A lot of the kerbs are wrong too. Some of the inside kerbs are massive and you can go no where near them. Even the likes of forza2 on the 360 is still a long way off. They give you a bit of an idea of how the track goes. The undulations are much bigger and really put you off if your thinking about the game. Im no expert. Only been there for a couple of afternoons on the way to do track days at spa. Its deff worth the trip there. Its like mecca for petrolheads. 1st lap will scare the living daylights out of you. Even if you have been on stacks of track days. Just so many different vehicles at so many different speeds. Last time i was there it ranged from a 57 seat coach to CLK DTM, super bikes etc.Once you get used to it. There is no other place like it. My advice to anyone who thinks about the ring would be to go for it. You wont regret it, unless you end up binning your car. Then dont blame me. Blame the playstation
  17. Hi mate I have stayed in that area quite a bit. Hilton is nice. Can sometimes get a good deal. Might be worth to check out special offers. Then again if its just somewhere to crash out when pissed then its a bit of a waste. Just up the road is a hotel called the belhaven hotel. Belhaven terrace. 2 mins walk from the hilton. Really nice small hotel and very resonable. Have also stayed at the glasgow pond hotel. Just up from 1 devonshire gardens. Does not look much from the outside but pretty smart inside. Its only about half a mile up the great western road from the end of byres road. Only a couple of pounds in a taxi Scott
  18. Great pics guys
  19. Thanks mate. Checked the traffic scotland website. Thought it would be a bit safer with a bit of local knowladge. Scott
  20. Heading up to knockhill tomorrow from dumfries. Usually head up the devils beeftub road from moffat. Great warm up. Do any of the locals know how long it will take to get over the Forth Road Bridge? Usually only ever cross the bridge 1st thing in the morning on the way to knockhill. No idea how busy it will be about the back of 10 Thanks in advance. Will hopefully see some of you guys at knockhill Scott
  21. Im interested to mate. Was back at the ring for an afternoon on the way over to spa francorchamps in october. Would be great to get back
  22. Charlie Its well worth while getting hold of another set of wheels and sticking your old tyres on just for the track. Or getting a set of track day tyres like toyo 888's. They are great in the dry, bit sketchy in the wet though, and dont melt the same as road tyres do. If its really wet you can just use your road tyres as they will not wear as much on the wet track. Wheels around are always there at sidc days anyway to change over wheels and tyres anyway. So keep a hold of your old ones. Slicks can aslo be a bit tricky. They tend to grip and grip, then just let go. A lot quicker than road tyres go when they begin to loose traction and slide. Also, slicks tend to grip more than a standard suspension set up is meant for. Or so i belive. So it can do funny things with the handling of the car
  23. Great pics mate. Do you have any of the red classic on irish plates
  24. Pure dead brilliant!
