  1. Another favour. 4 of my tyres are with keV horsley and Mikee sing at totb. Does anyone have room in their car/van to bring them back ? Based in Dumfries but could meet someone on the m74 or pick them up from Glasgow area. If anyone can help it's best to email me on robson_ScottAThotmailDotcom or call/text Zero7710seven32377 Scott
  2. Best of luck mate. Give em hell
  3. Thanks chris. Good luck for totb. I would love to come down and watch but I have work commitments this weekend. I think I'll need all the help I can get at snetterton. Or your engine!!!! Fee - your right to be selfish. Adam has been slacking lately with all this skiving away abroad with work. Adam - that must have been sore on your engine. Time for a 6 speed or dog box. Brakes and suspension deffinately help! The Exe-TC stuff is deffinately great. I'll be keeping an eye out for spike strips. Just look out or I might turn colin fix into colin sabotage! I doubt he could do that. It would be against the hippocratic oath of mechanics
  4. I had to wait round that corner for ages waiting for you to come round! It was unfortunate but I did get pretty much stopped on the outside of hall bends. I ended up picking up a huge ammount of the "skidders" rubber marbles and nearly binned it on the 1st corner strangley enough I was held up by one of your fellow aberdonians! do you think adam will be quick enough to be in our group fee????? ( where is the wind up smiley)
  5. Traffic was deffinately an issue on the day. Although, it was not as bad as it could have been. Its impossible to properly judge on a 2.1 mile circuit. Pretty much everyone nailed thier fastest laps during the first 3 where everyone is on a flyer.
  6. Its going to be very close at snetterton. Fee has more power and will be at an advantage. I think she needs to keep more than 2 places between us to win. Scary stuff
  7. Here are couple of in car videos from cadwell at the weekend. Qualifying Final I managed 1st place in Club Class 4WD forced induction and the fastest time in Club Class. Write up to follow
  8. Awesome Pics John. The banana was literally flying this weekend
  9. Thanks for the help and offers from everyone. Everyone has been very kind.it just shows how good the Subaru comunity that they will take time out to look out and offer wheels. Luckily I have manage to get a hold of a set from Mikee sing and kev horsley. Tom- thanks for trying to call. I have been out of signal most of the afternoon. After all this I'll do my best to bring the sidc trophy up to Scotland.and hopefully a bottle of cheap champagne with a number 1 on it.
  10. Sorry for any confusion. The number was put up that way to keep spam bots from getting my number. Andy- love those wheels. Very tempted to dump td and get those instead.
  11. I have just been let down by team dynamics by sending me the wrong wheels for my new tyres. I now have a set of 235-40-17 tyres and only 7.5 inch rims. Unfortunately im leaving for cadwell tomorrow (friday) late afternoon. If anyone has a set of 17-8 alloys 100pcd kicking about that i could borrow for the weekend.I will be able to pick them up. Or get them picked up anywhere from the South of Scotland up to the central belt. I would be mega gratefull. Any tyres that are on i would get taken off and put back on after. I would also offer some beer tokens. I know its a long shot at such short notice. Anyone that can help could email me on Robson_scottAThotmailDOTCOM or my mobile is Zero7710Seven3237Seven
  12. I started building a track car about 5 years ago. We are now doing our second year of time attack. So be carefull. It can be addictive! If you don't have an mot circuits will just scrutineer the car for you to make sure it's safe. The most important things are suspension and brakes. Get these right and it will be lots of fun. A pair of second hand coilovers and a geo setup should help things. Possibly some stiffer roll bars will help too. The standard brakes are not great but can be made better with decent pads and uprated fluid. If you have the Subaru 4 pots then it's well worth the money to upgrade to brembo's. Learn to drive the wheels off the car with the standard power and upgrade everything else before you go modding the engine. Although, a remap from andy Forrest is never a bad thing. This will make you a much better driver on the long run. It starts to get expensive when you start modding the engine and the supporting mods. If you need to know anything just pm me. I could go on forever on this subject but just on the iPhone Scott
  13. Great news chris. Best of luck. I'm sure you will do well
  14. If there are a couple of people interested. I will take a run up to knockhill on saturday and sit beside them
  15. Im deffinately looking forward to cadwell John. It's my kind of circuit. No Vids Adam. Did not bother checking memory card all day and it did not record a single session. Was pretty gutted as there was plenty of 4 wheel drifting action on it. Chris-I could deffinatly do with more power. If only i had an engine like yours
  16. We arrived at the circuit about 3 on Saturday afternoon only to find out that we were not allowed into the circuit until 7pm. Luckily, we managed to talk the surprisingly attractive marshal to let us into the circuit to watch some of the Aston Martin owners club race meeting. A bunch of rich people going not very fast in some lovely cars. F355 Challenge cars and some N24’s on road tyres only doing 54.5 sec laps in qualifying. Eventually we got into the circuit so we could dump off the gear not bother washing the car and bugger off for another crap nights sleep in the hotel. Too excited to sleep… that sounds wrong… looking forward to racing the next day so much that I did not get a nights decent sleep. The day of the race arrived and it was boiling. Being from Scotland im not too good with the heat and did not even realise that there was a 2nd digit in the temperature guage and don’t think I have ever seen it with a 3 as the 1st digit. Warm up – Just went out to re-familiarise myself with the circuit as I have not driven it since last year. Gently brought up the pace to a 54.971 lap which was quickest in 4wd F/I club and brought the car back in. Pissing oil and water. Bad memories of last year when I destroyed my engine. Luckily it had just breathed a bit of oil that had leaked and a bolt in the cooling system had come loose. Practice – Went out nice and early and was sitting in the pit lane quietly boiling away when some steam started pissing out of the bonnet. The lateral performance boys were right on the case and came sprinting their garage and had a look underneath the bonnet. It was just some spilt coolant. Off I merrily went and pushed a bit harder. The track temperature had obviously gone up a fair bit as the tyres were going off mega quick. I came back into the pits, sweating like a fat kid in a cake shop. When I checked the time sheets I was quickest again in club 4wd with a 54.372 Qualifying – Again I went out nice and early and was 2nd in line at the pit exit behind Fee. On the warm up lap Walter Morris who I have been quicker than in all the previous events was wanting passed. I decided to let him pass as I knew that his skyline had a lot more power than I had and would be a major help on the long start finish straight and thought he might know the circuit well. I prefer having some space anyway. On my 1st lap I posted a 53.912. The second lap there was not as much grip as the tyres were going off. The circuit was less grippy and you ended up bouncing all the way round surtrees. I did a few cool down laps another medium paced lap as I had not been happy with my entrance to graham hill bend on the flying lap, and then headed back into the pits. This time sweating like a pedophile in a packamack at a school disco. Not that I know any of those. Im just guessing. Seriously, it was biblically hot in the car with all the gear on and the heater turned on to soak some heat from the engine. Before the final I knew that Warren Kelly would be fast as he was very quick last year and Fee had been just behind me all day. After being quickest in all the other sessions I knew It was far from in the bag. Final – I got myself out nice and early again. On the warm up lap Morris danced past me again. The circuit felt even hotter now and there was less grip about. The quickest way out of the corners seemed to be just to 4 wheel drift trying to keep it as tidy as possible. Surtrees was even more bouncy than before. Needing plenty of power on to keep the car heading in the right direction. On the second flying lap I posted a 53.684. After some cool down laps I pushed a few more times, experimenting with different lines etc to try and better the lap time.I was not confident that that lap time would be quick enough. I just could not get the grip in the tyres as I had about 5 more quick laps about half a second. The grip was just not there though. I returned to the pits to find out I was 3rd 0.03 behind Fee and 0.25 behind Warren who won club 4wd. The 0.03 of a second behind Fee was quite hard to swallow. Then again, If I had swallowed a few less cakes then I might have been 3 1/00s quicker!!!! Then it was for the podium. ‘’ and 3rd place in 4wd club is……Gary Sear????? He was not even there?? I was a bit disappointed at missing a proper podium. Turns out they had marked up the sheet wrong. I eventually got to the podium with Warren and Fee and then got a picture taken with the lovely modified live and time attack girls, it was not all that bad then! Afterwards I had a good look at the splits etc. On the 1st sector I was .16 quicker than Warren and 0.293 quicker than Fee. I just lost the time on the straight compared to Fee, if you can call it a straight. On the start finish line I was the same speed as Warren but nearly 10mph slower than Fee. [edit - missed out the pics and thanks when pasting across from word. Bekause i kant spel] Here are some pics 1 wheel inside the white line ;-) As usual, massive thanks to : Colin Telfer for building the car Ian Brown for fixing the engine and gearbox when i break them Alister Colins for fixing the car at every event. And always being entertaining Andy Forest Performance for an awesome job mapping the car http://www.andyforestperformance.co.uk Andrew Walsh of Carlimits for making me go fast http://www.carlimits.com http://www.usedcarparts.co.uk for continued sponsorship
  17. I get the impression that a lot of people think its just like a track day. I used to think that as well before i started competing. Its far removed from a track day though. Im the same as you and Fee. I tend not to take track days too seriously. You always struggle to string more than a couple of quick corners together with the traffic. I tend to save the car and just piss about.
  18. Done.
  19. John - Fingers crossed that should be the brakes finally sorted. They have been an ongoing problem in the last 2 years. Last year it was pad knockoff which was fixed with replacing bearings and knockoff springs. And this year it has been lack of brakes. One of the things i have noticed about time attack is its much harder on the car and the little problems really show up when your pushing hard against the clock. Things seem to wear out a hell of a lot quicker than they did when i was just doing track days.
  20. The stupid thing is I probably would have taken the chance on a lap if no new ones were available. I think they are 328 or 330 AP's it's the 2 nd set I have cracked in a year.the ap discs had done the Jim Clark rally twice though. I could not believe the heat generated with bedding in though. I usually bed them in on the road.
  21. I have finaly got round to writing about Knockhill. Things have been pretty manic with work. After a great result at Oulton Park I knew that the pressure would be on for Knockhill. I also knew that Fee would be definitely the one to beat. I have done very little running at Knockhill over that last 2 seasons as most of my time and money has been taken up on the time attack events. I bought some better brakes, a set of AP 6 pots, after the slight 'mishap' at outon park when I ended up in the gravel at druids at about 120. I knew that to get a good result that I would have to be looking to do a low 56 and possibly a 55 second lap. A tall order since my quickest lap last year had been a 58.3. The car was not running right last year so I knew it would be possible. I was at the test day on the saturday and met Chris (braveheart) and his car. Awesome peice of machinery. Can i borrow your engine please . Then again, i would not loan my engine to me either! On the saturday I had tried to get along to the SIDC stand to say hello but kept getting called back to problems with the car. Great result for getting best stand and winning the show and shine. The morning of the race arrived and I was awake bright and early at 5am as I had decided to stay at home as I thought I would get a better nights sleep at home, wrong! Still too excited to sleep, I really should grow up. A quick bowl of hero flakes and I was good to go. We arrived at Knockhill and it was typical Knockhill weather. It had been raining and it was Baltic. It did look like it was going to dry out though. Being Knockhill I was prepared for every eventuality. Sun cream, sunglasses, wooly hat and a dry jacket. We got the usual, 'don’t crash into each other' etc etc etc speech which we all listened to as intently as ever  It was brightened up by free tea and biscuits which seemed to really delight us Scottish competitors. Warm Up - The track was damp and drying quickly so I decided that I had everything to loose and nothing to gain. I just stuck on my good set of tyres as they actually have some tread on them and trundled around the track for 10 minutes just making sure everything was ok. There was no point in pushing it and binning the car as it looked like the track was going to dry up. The lap timer showed a late 58. About as quick as I went last year on a dry track. I went into the pits and met Fee who asked if, I was playing mind games?? Turns out my transponder had not been working and I had no times registered. We fitted the old tyres and a new transponder and we were ready to go for practice. Practice - Despite having a set of knackered 888s on and the car on low boost. Everything felt really good in the practice session. I gradually built up speed and pushed harder and harder. Towards the end of the session I felt a bit of vibration on the brakes so decided to just end the session there, lesson learned from Oulton. Back in the paddock I had a look at the time sheets. Things were close, it was definitely game on. In 4wd Fee was 56.220, I was 56.292 and Eric Holmes was on 56.395. I knew I would go a bit faster on high boost and I thought there was more to come out the car. I also expected Fee and Eric to be on low boost too. This was going to be a tough one. After looking at the brakes we decided to throw in a new set of pads which had been delivered by Questmead that morning. The pads were not too low but I knew I would be very hard on them at the hairpin so thought it was better being safe than in the wall. Qualifying - With the good tyres on I was ready to put in a really good lap time. I knew a 55 would be on the cards and defiantly thought it was going to be required in the final. The 1st couple of laps were spent bedding in the new pads. I then promptly put in half a flying lap before the brake pedal went to the floor. The new pads, mintex F2 generate a lot of heat when bedding in and I had cooked the brakes. I sat in the pits for 5 minutes of the 20 min session then spent 5 or 6 laps letting the brakes cool and the pedal returned. It was now nearing the end of the session so I decided to try and put in a decent time. If there was any doubt in the brakes I was going to end the session right there as I did not want a repeat of Oulton. Something did not feel right at all. There was a lot of vibration on the brake pedal too. Maybe the cooked brakes had overheated the tyres but there was just no grip or stability in the tyres. My quickest lap was 56.704 and 3rd in 4wd. There were now 7 of us in the 56's I was going to have to go a lot better in the final. After the session I could not decide what the problem was with the grip. The car felt much better on the older tyres. It may be because the old tyres were on a 7.5inch STI rims where the new ones were on a 7inch team dynamics rims. Lighter but not as wide??? Ronnie from wheels around kindly switched the tyres to another set of 7.5inch sti rims. A quick can of man up and a brave and butter roll and I was ready to go, until we looked at my brake discs. They were cracked right through in 2 places. I was ready to take my chances with 1 flying lap on the final, lesson from Oulton un-learned! Colin had different ideas though and a quick call to Questmead had a new set of discs there within 5 minutes. Final - I was keen to get out and put a good lap in early as that’s when the tyres are at their best. So after 1 warm up lap I went for it, and nearly binned it down duffus. I had entered with my usual lack of self preservation speed and just slid right to the other end of the circuit, ruining my line for the next corner. The second lap and there was the same lack of grip in the 1st 3 corners. That’s where the drifters had been burning rubber and throwing down marbles for the last hour. I pushed harder and harder but could only get into the mid 56's as I was loosing a lot of speed on the entry to duffus to get round the corner. Towards the end of the session there was beginning to get a bit more grip down duffus. I was preparing for 1 last flying lap when the chequered flag came out. At this point I was pretty dejected and thought that my time, 56.471 would probably not be good enough for a podium and certainly not a win. There was certainly a lot of colourfull language directed at myself. I really thought I had blown it. My only hope was that everyone else had struggled to find grip too. Into the pits and I found out that I was 2nd in 4wd and Fee had taken the win with a 55.431. I knew there was no way that I could have matched that time and I had been beaten fair and square. So I was content...ish with 2nd place. I was really pleased for Fee though and if I could not have come 2nd to a better competitor. Later on I had a look at the splits and it looks like I had lost most of the time on the 3rd sector, from the railway straight to the start finish line. In the 1st 2 sectors I was only 0.253 seconds down. Fee and I had always been very close on the speed traps. This time she was a good 5 or 6mph quicker than me. Brands Hatch next and it’s definitely game on Colin Telfer for building the car Ian Brown for fixing the engine and gearbox when i break them Alister Colins for fixing the car at every event. And always being entertaining Andy Forest Performance for an awesome job mapping the car http://www.andyforestperformance.co.uk Andrew Walsh of Carlimits for making me go fast http://www.carlimits.com http://www.usedcarparts.co.uk for continued sponsorship Some pics
  22. Only on scoobynet http://bbs.scoobynet.com/members-gallery-5...ront-mount.html
  23. Another vote for AndyF here
  24. I could do to borrow your engine chris!!! My car weighs just over 1200kg without driver.just over 1300kg with driver.not just my car that needs to go on a diet! Power wise, never bothered to put it on a dyno.but would be lucky to make 500 on a MD321t+ on a 2.0 . Cosworth cams will help though.
  25. Its very tight. I will be looking to get into the 53's. Strangely, i have just been looking at last years results from brands looking to see what time we need to get.
