I got mine from graham goode and not had a prob in 3 years. Playsatan on here has just picked up a very, very, very nice alloy crank pulley. I can't remember where he got it from but i'm sure he'll be on tonight. Pm him and he'll give you the info. It was cheaper than mine aswell.... SOD!

Geo, i could prob listen for hours on engine building m8. I know what you said is generally true, i was just asking how bike engines don't have the same problems as car engines. Even the hayabusa 1300cc four cyl idles fine at 800 to 1000rpm and no flywheel, weird. Maybe something to do with the bikes internals are lighter than cars, lighter crank spins easier so doesn't need a flywheel to help it round also it will be a lot more compact??? As billy says peter lightened pulleys alone won't make a difference but a lighter flywheel will. It will bog down easier. Try giving it a bit more revs off the line. What revs do you usually use for launching? i use 5 to 6k, never seems to bog down with mine.
-
Bikes don't use flywheels and idle fine, they also rev to buggery. My zx6r redlines at 14.5k and the cbr 250 redlines at 18k, both 4 cyl. 4 strokes. Is it not the state of tune and cams that warrant the 5k idle on F1? I'm sure the flywheel comes into it aswell though.

Fitting lighter pulley's won't give you anymore power but it will help the engine to spin quicker thus making it more rev happy and quicker. To get the best from them you should fit a lightened flywheel, this helps the engine spin even easier but the tradeoff is you have to rev the car more to pull away as the car will bog down and stall if not enough revs are used. I've had lightened pulleys on my car for nearly 3 years now using a standard flywheel and not had a problem with them, can't say i noticed any difference though, but if i fit the flywheel it will make a difference.

Hi guys, anyone gat a pic of their header tank you can post up? Or, send it to my mobile, pm me for no. I want to see what they are like to see if i can fit one to a classic. Cheers, Johnny

Sorry guys, but have i missed something? It's only a blue scoob with blue cardboard stuck to the arches....... Got the brakes sorted yet??
-
classic m8, looking for the alooy one from my98 on

Just got the car back from greersport after parting with a considerable amount of dosh last night only to have the bloody header tank burst on the m74 this morning on the way to work. It took a lot of restraint to stop me kicking the bloody thing and leaving it there. I HATE SCOOBS!! Until it's fixed that is.... Any header tanks lying around?? Johnny.

A scoobyecu raises the boost to about 1.1 bar so there is no fuel cut probs and alters the fueling etc to compensate. So as you'll have a 0.2 bar boost increase the car will feel quicker. Not sure how much more power you'll make though but it wil be a bit more. You'll need to get a extra chip board soldered onto your ecu though to take the scoobyecu chip.

i always use a subaru filter, i have a my95 and first time it had a big filter on it, now the part no. has changed and they all use the smaller filter now.

Might do m8, sounds good will check out the dates and see whats up. Dave, is it not about time you changed your sig??
-
A big thanks to dave for sparking a weld to me car (it looks quality now it's undersealed). and helping me with my bolt woes. I owe you one. Also gotta say cheers to geo for a great deal on the whiteline stuff and for the hospitality. You should have seen us trying to fit all the kit in my focus..lol And finally, Za (if you still come on here), nice to meet you, thats a nice car you got, sorry i spent most of the time under my car good luck for the season m8.

Just had another look at the pic, i would replace that crank pulley aswell, shouldn't be too expensive from grade a or some other breaker.
-
I had the exact same problem with my sti2. The crank bolt goes loose and the outer crank pulley starts to fall off mashing the pulley and the woodruff key at the same time. No need for a new engine though, all you have to do is remove the crank pulley, renew the woodruff key and fit a new outer crank pulley. You'll prob need to carefully file or grind the key so you can remove the pulley. I put alloy pulleys on mine and 2 years later i've had no probs at all with it, can't see any probs occuring with a new standard pulley aswell. Oh i may know of a standard pulley and new woodruff key going, pm me if your interested.

at least the pay is better than chief engineer in the playsatan garage. and Coulty does have the hair for the job
-
Not good, i learnt a long time ago to keep m8's away from you car, once ask a m8 to pop the bonnet on my old A4 and he snapped the accelerator pedal off??!! feck knows how he managed it.

Cheers M8 Forgot to add Grant, before you ask i will not be changing my username to johnny6r or johnnyninja Thanks.

Hi all, i decided to get something a bit more economical to commute with and also help keep the scoob as a toy. As some of you will know i did have The Beast (escort td) but chopped it in for this... A bit more economical than the escort aswell.... Rode it home from the lake district today and i was bloody freezing when i got home. A big thankyou to coulty for coming down with me and bringing my car back. Playsatan!..... Yir Sacked.

It can also corrode fuel tanks and lines, you need to use quality lines and a plastic lined fuel tank if you use pure methanol. For 10 percent i think these may be ok.
