  1. The Ford Escort was retired and the Focus replaced it I owned and loved the Iconic Escort. I certainly didn't buy a Focus and looked for another Marque. if there had been "Escortnet" simular comment's would have been Posted then about the Focus. The Impreza is an dying old Classic Rally Icon but you can only use the Defibralator so many times Time to let it go and die gracefully, Cant wait to see the B9 or B5 finished and in the Flesh. Tony
  2. Someones Photoshop of it I think a bit of Colour, Contrast and arches will certainly enhance the Car looks Toyota seem to think so aswell, maybe a bit of Cross fertilization to, as they have a simular Hybrid scheme and a little investment in Subaru Tony
  3. Sounds a good Idea Craig but I won't be there, still a bit poorly Tony Ps at least your giving everyone else a chance by not entering LOL
  4. They have a raffle like this on Scoobynet which is the better Computor LOL Tiny, Is it quite easy for anyone to buy a Ticket (I have an SIDC account). Probably easiest to get a SIDC account and then buy through the SIDC shop?? Tony
  5. The other things to consider............How many Manufactuers compete in the High Powered, Large Family 4x4 car ??? Two, Subaru and Mitzzy, why only 2? because it's a small "Niche" market. There isn't really enough Volume for 2 and to be still be very profitable. The Car industry is either Large and high Volume or small and Niche. Nothing seems to survive in the middle to long nowadays. Subaru's move out of this market should also help their rival, Mitzzy but they are Japeneese Fuji are trying to make Subaru into a Major Car Manufactuer. There aim is to Secure Subaru's future rather than keeping a small percentage of loyal Enthusiast happy. Accountant's decide the way foward and designers try to envisage the requirements and Taste of the 2008 buyer's not the 1998 dreamers. The 2008 Subaru's Portfolio, Forrester, Legacy, B9 Tribeca and B5 TPH may not suit our tastes but it will be quite impresive especially with Power and Economy I would also Imagine TPH will move across the whole Subaru Range, making it even Cheaper. Regards Tony Ps I reckon the designer of the Bugeye was taken of car design and he designed the Scoop for the MY03. From there he was demoted to the Spray Booth LOL (I owned a bugeye only joking)
  6. OK the Colour abosolutely stinks and Styling a bit bland but it's new and it's NOT an Impreza. Many years ago the Model T Ford was an icon, The MY9822B was one in our era But it's time to let it go and move on. No point in digging up ghosts. There should be plain petrol Turbo versions and the power to wieght should then be far better than the Sti. When it comes out in sports/rally trim and a decent paint job I reckon it will look great, OK far better The B9 Tribeca will a fair beast and B5 straight Turbo could be good possible replacements when the Impreza Production ends 2008. There is of course the EVO it looked gorgeous, especially in that red But even the EVO would have looked Cr4p in the peutrid colour of the B5-TPH IMHO Regards Tony
  7. << I had a tek2 exchange ecu on a classic had problems with it.I ended up getting my car Tek3ed by Andy forrest the car has a lot better response 5gear is like fourth and boost comes in quicker well i have a full decat and jr panel .There was a bit in Scoobymag were Andy f fitted an exhaust to his o3wrx and it gained 5bhp so the remap makes a difference to exhaust and other tweeks .My car is my2000 uk turbo i get 18psi in 2345 when exhaust temp is 800degrees >> Dispys right, Tek2 is an "off the Peg" Mapped Ecu, tweaked and better than the original SUBARU ECU. The safiest way, is as said, TEK3 your car, is a customized Map for your car including your Mods. The fitting of Induction Kits Decat Etc. are taking into account and the cars Performance be optimized Otherwise as KIP said a green cotton Filter is a straight replacement, fairly cheap and do far less harm Tony
  8. IMHO, I'm not a Scoob mapper/Engineer but this is sort of how I had explained to me, so I could understand it !!!! and might not be 100% tecky correct. On the Old classic scoobs, the engine was restricted by both Exhaust and Airfilter and is fitted with a "off the Peg Mapped ECU" . In the Map of the ECU Map there was Tolerances for the mechanics of operation and sensing, as no two Cars are the same. By changing Exhaust and Airfilter you could dramitcally increase you Power Before you reached the point "Boost Spike" when the ECU then starts to protect the Engineand slow you down. My mate lost nearly 4 seconds a lap after adding an Induction kit to his MY03STiPPP The Newage Cars are far more sofisticated and Electronically controlled than the Classics And dont suffer with fragile MAF sensors like the MY99's . But That "Window" is very much smaller, even though it's still a "off the Peg Map" Now by fitting an exhaust or induction kit the car may Spool up a lot quicker and Boost Presure increases. if this then get above a determined level, the ECU will see the "Boost Spike" will lower the boost for a while and gradually build it up again, Spike" and lower boost. It is far better for excelleration and your engines health to have a steady Boost pressure than up and down like a whores draws At the end of the day if your doing any Mods like that get a boost gauge, better still a Specs unit and monitior Boost pressure for a while before and after fitting. you maybe lucky, if your car is running on it's lower limits then induction kit may help and not sound powerful but go Far slower There was an artical in Scoobymag about Panel filter and the best wasn't the one with the best Freeflow IIRC Tony Ps sorry did you want a yes or no ?? No gain & No Warranty then No risk fitting IMHO OOps if you can understand that your a better man than me
  9. For £12K you could by my Type R with it already in Tony Ps them Japs have small heads can hardly get mine in it
  10. Our thoughts go out to his wife an Family. Commitee Peeps, Can we send a "E-mail" type "Book of condolences" from the SIDC ?? Tony
  11. << Have a look at this---- >> May the Force be with you << Think it important that the fun "element" is retained! >> Blue Boys right and lets beat the crap out anyone who argues with that
  12. << You bloody creep Tony >> FMS, BTW I would included you and V5 man but my tongue was far tooo dry LOL I like Steveeeeeee's Dirty Car Comp Idea would need 2 Catergories Wet 'n' Dry ...... Dirt 'n' Mud Tony
  13. << It just seems in the last 48 hours the whole SIDC show and shine scene has crashed and burnt, and gone out of control. >> Muddy, It may seem that way, but TBH the SIDC S&S has evolved into a big way over the last 12 months because of efforts from peeps like yourself better for peeps get it sorted than Bytch about it on another WEB site. "I'm struggling to cope with it all to be honest" Most peeps ask you because you are "The" Man when it comes to S&S. The same as most peeps who want to know how to drive a Scoob into a Tyre Wall ask me Questions are fired at you because of their respect for you rather than Pointing a Finger and blaming you don't take all to heart. << I'm all for open debate on the subject, but we must remember that it's not an RS concours event......It's OUR event and we make the rules as a collective. What we do need to discuss as a collective is the rules regading Modifiactions in which we all adhere to when entering these competitions. >> There are Problems "No rules" as we now see, you must be careful not to make "Too many rules" as that can produce as many Arguments. I like what many suggested 4 classes, Classic unmodded & modded, Newage unmodded & modded, Perhaps a Special class added Rally or Commercial Cars and also Best of Show. An owner could enter his Car with several Mods in either unmodded or modded catergory, His choice But Mods would only score in the modded catergory. A small nominal fee £2-3 to help get runners up Trophies etc. And if all the entries understand the reasoning for the Scoring ( Like the millage ) Regards, Tony Ps also ban Muddy as his Car is soooooooo nice
  14. I don't enter the Colour and Shine but do so enjoy watching you Peeps. Why start Polishing a car that was spotless IMHO anyway You chaps probably can't understand why we take a nice clean Car onto a dirty old Track LOL I did notice there were far more Taking part in the S&S at Trax, perhaps maybe overwhelmed by amount. I'd given you all Trophies for polishing in that Heat and wouldn't have like to judge it, they were ALL toooooooo nice The SIDC committee spend a lot of their Free time organising and distbruting tickets etc. all are volunteers and get little thanks for their efforts and plenty of Ear ache when things go wrong. One thing I know for certain Phil & Committe, will use your comments and suggestions to improve next years S&S. No doubt aided from S&S regulars like Muddy FMS etc. So I do hope peep posts to help improve a fast growing club sport in it's infantcy and not just to start a "Witch hunt" IMHO IIRC Regards Tony
  15. << But on a serious note from the SIDC point of view I was really pleased with the quality of the stand. EVERYBODY said hello as they came in and I think the parking worked well I got to meet and chat with a lot more people this year which made it far more enjoyable for me So all in all the SIDC will be back at TRAX but I do understand where your coming from Tony Hopefully we will see you at a track session soon Brands Hatch Date Jan/Feb to be announced soon >> Phil I think it wa me being misrable, unable to do the Tracktime due to Trapped nerve in my Neck look forward to Brands
  16. << Nice pics M8 , Girls are not every thing !!! LOL >> Totally agree, perhaps I'm getting tooooooooo old. I've been to every Trax since 2000, IIRC and the previous years have catered for all tastes in Motors. This year it seems to be all Chav's R Us "big Base, boobs and Arse" Sorry to say I dn't think I'll be going to TRAX2006 unless i lose my medalion Tony
  17. Kaz Got mine today what excellent work Big thanks Tony
  18. Welcome to the Forum Not many From Hereford on this forum but there are at least 9 Lady Scoob drivers here the sure footed Scoob is very Popular with them IIRC Tony
  19. Big thanks to everyone at SIDC would have been a far worse day if you hadn't been there 3 mile Queue SIDC enclosure far too small Not enough Food Stalls Not enough Stalls Why 3 mile queues +1.5hours one way and no queues the other way!!! because that's "they", police/villagers/organisers wanted it, I persume!!! in the next field by the entrance gate, there was 6 MX5's in an enclosure we'd have had to squeeze 30+ cars in. we should have had all that space, and still not enough. . I have been to 3 Japfest's now and will probably be my last unless it's radically changed. I agree with National SIDC day and boycott this event. I'll even forgo tracktime Tony
  20. I think the SIDC membership has outgrown Castle Coombe. The Enclosure is far to cramped. If the SIDC had an enclosure for 100 more Cars they would have filled it, no problem IMHO Perhaps the Organisers of "Japfest" wish to keep it that way not wanting it to become "Scoobfest" Tony Ps SIDC organisers did a brill Job, so not knocking them
  21. << Jacqui Has kindly agreed to sort out Judy and Kierons visit to Tatton Park >> GREAT JOB Phil if they wan't a go out in a Scoob they can come out for a spin with me Tony Ps perhaps not donb't want to put them of Scoob's fo life
