  1. Im talking about a short block built. New liners supplied and fitted, block machined and decked. And then engine built. Basically the cost of crank, pistons, rods, rod bolts, 4 liners and the machine work to remove the original liners and fit the new ones, deck the block and hone the liners. Block already has a 14mm head stud conversion and conversion for rear thrust crank. I still need 14mm head studs, baffled sump water pump, oil pump, timing belt kit, and work carried out to the AVCS heads which is all at least another £1k plus if I didn't already have most of the parts
  2. Bring it on but at the end of the day I am aiming for driveability rather than figures and that magic 10sec quarter and sub 60 seconds at knockers
  3. Your perfectly safe at those figures on your engine. Plus i broke my gearbox which was always the week point in my car. I thought it may have broken at some point but just not so soon
  4. Pretty much I got a car mapped 9 days after getting it and broke it 3 days later :brickwall: :brickwall:
  5. Yes you can fit 2 litre heads on a 2.5 block although they should realy be adjusted to cope as they may well restrict the engine. Well worth giving Steve Whitson a phone. Put it this way he is building my 600bhp engine for alot less than your total budget. If you go down the 2 litre route and want a CDB give me a shout as I may well be able to help
  6. Ashame to hear that Personally I would go down the brand new route. Do you want more power? if so how much?
  7. Looks superb in white but needs lowered and a nice set of 18's IMHO How do you find it to drive compared to a classic? I found newages a bit dull
  8. I always leave about a week for a reply from Andy unless desperate and then I just pester him till i get an answer
  9. I have just priced some up with Alyn at AS performance here is what he said Pads Pagid rs4.2 blue £185ish, or rs5 at £200ish Rotors an American pattern race rotor at £350inc./pair, genuine AP discs RRP at £453.12inc./pair and PF versions at RRP £454.90inc. Not very cheap im afraid. He can get 10% off the AP rotors and 5% off the other type not sure about. He advised me to go for AP PF's at £454 and i will be going for The pagid RS4's.
  10. It amazes me how did Ron/Mike have such a good reputation if his work is so poor? Your in good hands with Steve or well I hope so anyway
  11. How long is a bit? I have a very large barn and could store for you if required?
  12. Wow not so bad iv got Impreza 400bhp all ods declared £778 Mk5 golf GTI £595 Mk5 golf GT TDI140 £230 Flipping golf GTI is so expensive because like you I had to insure the golf with 0 NCD ****s
  13. Noticed an RB320 today at Alyth golf club anybody from here?
  14. I work for Maersk FPSO's I am an Lead Instrument tech. What do you do?
  15. It annoys me that it is so much, but not much choice. I work in the oil industry and the 5% payrise due to the high oil price I now have the impreza a second car and a Mk5 golf GTI as my daily. Although this was nothing to do with the price of fuel. It was down to the fact the Impreza is to loud and extreme for daily use (I must be getting old) I am glad I don't rely using a car for a job as the fuel price must be killing people profits.
  16. lol actually saw the rallye recently all fixed it. It needed a fair bit of work when I got rid it was just too dam slow
  17. A wee bit sick not making full boost due to a slight missfire And the brakes are shot
  18. Thats not standard position though. GT30/40 requires rotated setup. Best figures I have heard are from the MD321V. If you were to go rotated they sky is the limit although I belive your next from may be the 2.5 block
  19. Black golf GT TDI 140ish as well Impreza tucked up in my tidy barn
  20. Well only update is I missed the colour of the RB5 so.................... well it will do till this is rebuilt
  21. Daz's car that was featured in JP has relinered CDB with capacity increased to 2.5. Peter Fai 17 on here had his 2.5 pinned though may be worth asking him. I also know zen performance ran a pinned 2.5 as well so you could always e-mail Paul. Other option is im sure Steve at SW motorsport in Edinburgh could sort it for you.
  22. Harsh but as I say......made for go not for show. The new runabout will be getting washed a little more though
  23. lol my Impreza is over £700 with Keith Micheals with me and the btter half insured although you do have age on your side Chris
