  1. Your right I had a rip through the only tunnel in Dundee today and it sounds superb back offshore tomorrow till the 23rd so have a couple of weeks to think about it. Car was actually going brilliantly today on my trip to St Andrews it got the whole way there and back without breaking
  2. Kev thinks it does!! I sorted my rear arches already. Was planning to strip the car down over the winter cut out all the rust and give her a respray now I have the facilities. I have actually asked a similar question to this on an EVO forum and id say 1/3 of them are saying buy a newer impreza.
  3. May take you up on that as iv been in a bugeye and hawkeye and driven a bugeye but found it awful boring although i never got to drive it in anger.
  4. Think I may have been unluck but in the 6 months I have needed A set of BC coilovers (because genuine shocks were more ££) £600 New disks and pads at the rears £150 2 new wheel bearings including labour £400 I now require new disks @£400 new pads £125 sills to be fixed £500 then there is the fact my insurance went up to £600 fair enough a FQ360 would be £17-£20k but to be honest at least I could drive it every day without thinking it might break down at any point
  5. Well seem to be having endless troubles with my car of late and now I need two new sills for the MOT in Feb. Im getting the feeling it won't change and I constantly have things wrong with the car. I have now got to the stage that I carry a pretty comprehensive tool kit in the boot just incase which to be honest is stupid. I have been looking at Evo 9 Fq360's which seem to be a pretty serious car out straight of the box. Only 2 maybe 3 years old at a push so should be more reliable than a 10 year old Impreza? I know the tax will be £400 but to be honest I don't realy care. And before anybody says buy a newage! No I don't like them. So convince me why I shouldn't sell up?
  6. I never touched the pressure plate bolts when i did mine and never been an issue. I bedded it in by just driving normally for a few 100 miles and then did a couple of full bore launches slipping the clutch slightly and it has never missed a beat since. As for oil on the clutch? Is oil leaking out the bell housing at the bottom the car?
  7. Yes sounds like mine as well. To bleed the system just remove the cap when the car is cold and start the car let it run till it warms slightly check both hoses inlet and outlet to the radiator warm up. Think there may be a couple of spots where air get trapped so may be an idea to squeeze the inlet and outlet hoses a few times when its warm to agitate the water. Then stick the cap on and allow the car to warm to the stage where the fan kicks in. Allow the fan to run and shut off again and hey presto hopefully your heater works on idle?
  8. now someone explain why it edited the word "gear-set"
  9. PPG straight cut gea***t for me or an S206 or 2.1 stroker kit?
  10. Wonder if Lamborghini will "GIFT" them another one. I don't think so!
  11. Due to working offshore I would only be able to do some of the events. I also have a good mate who is an ex AWD mechanic and access to a full garage and spray booth whenever necessary which I am sure would help keep alot of the labour cost down. Don't worry I won't be pulling my car to bits as it's currently my everyday car. I would most likely leave the car as it is (330/321 with a few choice suspension parts) do a few events and see how I like it then make a decision weather to properly commit myself by spending a small fortune.
  12. Some out here only a dusting so far. Why does everybody get so excited?
  13. Just spent the most of the day gradually reading through your thread Arch. What a superb read. You must obviously have some sort of engineering back ground because I wouldn't dare take apart a gearbox and rebuild it myself. You have seriously temepted me into turning the RB5 into sprint orientated. Now to apply for the licence. What are the various classes and how are they decided? Also noticed I have to join a club where is the one most local to me as im local to Perth
  14. Can i change my reward from air miles? Got 950points or 47 airmiles doh!
  15. Not all RB5's had a big prodrive wing on the back only WR sports Since you like them so much here is a pic of mine And rigpig spoiler on for me
  16. I have also been having thoughts about changing car. When I go back offshore I always feel that i should get a decent reliable car. When I get back from offshore and drive the RB5 again I remember why I drive an unreliable, uncomfortable car every day. I still have the odd look at other cars mainly FQ360 evo 9's but just can't justify the dept it would entail. R32 is a nice looking motor and coming from a V6 engined golf before the scoob I will guarantee you will love the rip of the V6 once properly unleashed. Good luck to you Cal Ps your link to your pic's doesn't work
  17. where are Whiteline based?
  18. I have never had any vouchers and had a v-power card for ages. Just registered my card just now will that help. is there anyway to check how many points I have?
  19. Great shout it does indeed have my proof of no claims on the renewal from Greenlight so will phone and check what the situation is with using it.
  20. Only problem is i did 11300 miles and my limit was 7500 the odometer now reads 103885 so to make it within limits it would have to be under 100k. That would be some miss read To be honest though these are the first insurance company to ever ask for the odometer reading never had an issue with being slightly shy with my exact mileage. Will phone up 2moro and give it a try anyway
  21. Well thankfully picked up a letter today about my insurance running out tomorrow. Anyway renewal came through as £587 (greenlight) Which I thought was ok as im 26 5NCD no convictions various mods to the sum of 330bhp So I phone to renew and they ask my current mileage which I tell them and iv done more than my agreed 7500 so they recon I owe them £65 due to going over this limit even although my years insurance runs out tomorrow . They then say they will need another £65 for the new insurance policy seeing as I went over my limit the year before. So there £587 renewal is now £717 so I tell Greenlight I will phone them back. Phone Gary at Keith Micheals and get it for £640 all mods declared fully comp with 12k mileage limit. Problem now is I need proof of no claims for Keith Micheals and Greenlight want there £65 before they will issue proof of my no claims. Do I have any choice? Does the renewal quote seem reasonable to folks on here?
  22. Here is a not very good pic of my defis. Cost about £520 including the carbon pod on a group buy on scabbynet. Superb bit of kit. Even my granny thought they were cool.
