  1. Followed one (maybe this one) out of North Berwick. Acceleration, noise and smell of burned fuel awesome. Have you got the in flight refuel hose fitted yet? Colleague down south has one. Says if you really step on it MPG changes to GPM! Love my STI, but it couldn't live with this. Enjoy.
  2. Suspect I am going to get some abuse but..... ...I bought a new WRX STI at the end of September last year..... ....and washed it for the first time last week after 8000 miles.
  3. Had 2 hatches. Both 18" rims. P-Zero Rosso's for me.
  4. Worth buying IMHO. Got a saloon last September with Recaro's, fog lights and Spec C suspension. Big step forward. Sadly, it appears to be the last step for high performance Subaru's in the UK and the EU.
  5. Get it changed under warranty. Had two fail 3 years ago because of extreme cold weather -10 and below overnight. 1st battery a couple of years old and dealer changed under warranty. 2nd lasted 4 weeks. Overnight in Scotland for a days skiing and it was -19. Battery gave 1 shot at starting, which STI always worked with. Dealer said extreme cold weather can damage battery cells.
  6. And for those of use who have had a few (7) including the current WRX STI, it is a big disappointment. The price of the new shape was right in 2008 but not enough people liked the shape. The the spec was right and the price wrong. Both hurt sales. Oh well. Audi RS3 next I guess
  7. I think as part of the setup, the head unit displays the PIN. You then enter that on to your phone and they pair. From my manual Preparation for using the Handsfree system Before using the Hands-free system, it is necessary to register a cell phone in the system. Perform the following procedure to register a cell phone. 1. Press the OFF hook switch . 2. Select “ENGLISH”/“FRANÇAIS” by operating the “TUNE/TRACK/CH” dial. Then “WELCOME!” will be displayed. 3. Press the “TUNE/TRACK/CH” dial or the talk switch . 4. Select the “RECORD NAME” menu. 5. Say the name to be registered. 6. Select the “CONFIRM” menu. After “CAR M_MEDIA” is displayed, a pass key is displayed. 7. Input the displayed pass key into the cell phone while “PKY: ****” is displayed. If you input the correct pass key, “PAIRED” is displayed and the registration procedure is finished. If you input an incorrect pass key, “FAILED” is displayed and the registration procedure was not successful.
  8. Had a test drive in one the day I went to collect my STI. If went like it sounded, it would be awesome. Agree with Tiff, reat car in need of more power and torque.
  9. I have 2 phones registered on my Metasat, neither of which get a response at the moment. Didn't get asked for a Tracker this time. Starting to think it is more hassle than it is worth as I get no response 50% of the time, a response after 1-2 hours 40% of the time and the occcasional response within seconds. Thinking about drafting a letter to Metasat suggesting that they accept liability in the event my car is actually stolen and the unit does not respond. Doubtless, my insurer would run a mile if the car was stolen and the unit did not work.
  10. 0% finance if you pay full price. No finance available if you take £6k discount apparently. Not sure if the discount will continue into October anyway.
  11. Wouldn't worry about road tax. Higher band = 1 tank of fuel. By next year it will equate to half a tank the way prices keep going up.
  12. I do 2000 miles a month so slightly different circumstances to you. Servicing good. The very few warranty claims I have had over the years always been resolved. Probably the ideal customer for them as I always buy my cars there too.
  13. Enjoyed 2 STI hatches, especially since many people dont know what they are. Sure saloon with no bodykit will be just fine.
  14. AF Noble always been good. Worth a try if you are in Scotland. Pretty sure I saw a CS 400 when my STI was in for a service recently.
  15. Have had 2 hatches and was going to order my 3rd. Except there are none in the UK.
  16. Current MY 10 WRX STI hatch To be replaced with MY12 WRX STI saloon in 10 days. This months promotion too good to ignore.
  17. I would take that back, something is not right. Have a hatch STI which is pretty much the same 2.5 engine. Temp gauge goes to middle after cold start and stays there whatever you do.
  18. Was booked to do the Seat Leon experience but used my own STI hatch. Got much more out of it as it gave me a feel for what the car can do. Instructor, Sasha Brunton, drove a couple of laps in car to understand it before lesson started. Learned about balancing car rather than playing with centre diff, still managed to get traction control warning. 34 miles or so at an indicated average of 8.7mpg. New set of brake pads at the service the following week to replaced cracked and glazed ones that didn't survive. Brakes will be your limitation if you use your own car, pedal goes soft very quickly.
  19. Interesting thing that the dealer pointed out to me is that it is YOUR RIGHT to have your car repaired wherever you want, be that a Franchiser Dealer or your local lock up. Dealer did the estimate to some insurance/Thatcham agreed system. When I called insurance I got the you should go to our nearest approved repairer. Plus a 10 year guarantee on workmanship. When I declined, I was told an engineer could take up to 7 days to inspect car and then further delay for approval, i.e Fear Uncertainty Doubt if you don't do it the way insurer ants it done. Subaru Accident Management seem to be able to cut through this.
  20. Have already made use of it :-( Got tapped by a lorry on my way to the dealer for 10,000 mile service. Insurance said it would take 7 working days before an Engineer would inspect if I did not use approved repairer. SAM got that cut to 2 days.
  21. On my second hatch. Love them.
  22. Try running in Sport Sharp (#) all the time. Have a standard STI and I started running I Mode and switching. I found that I got better economy in Sport sharp as the engine seems to pick up faster and therefore burn fuel for less time. Moved me from 25 to 27mpg. Lots of motorway running in that. Still get about 24 across country.
  23. Had a 2008 saloon and ran for just over 2 years and 45,000 miles with no problems whatsoever. Bought a 2010 hatch a couple of months ago, couldn't stretch to £33k. Interior is a little plasticky compared to some comparable German competition, but it is spacious and comfortable.
  24. The Edinburgh to Moffat road is wonderful. Has appeared on Evo a couple of times. Think they had a blast in an Alfa 156 GTA.
  25. Gotta say I liked the hatch so much I bought another which I collect on Tuesday. Had 2000 Turbo Wagon, 2 x WRX 2.0 and 1 x WRX 2.5 before I went for the hatch. Love the fact I doesn't attract attention. Only people in the know recognise it. Fast across country. Last thing to pass me across counrty was an Audi RS6!!!
