Well you have defientley managed the DRAGON in mouse clothing there!! and what a job too!! i agree, i think when you put the stickers on, you get a lot more people thinking you just want to race all the time! I am a BIG fan of cars like yours that look very very tidy and nice but are complete animals!! Well done! and whats the next mod?? I have made an air intake temp sensor for my car, and thats working brilliant, i can see the temp drop by 3 or 4 degrees when you hit the Intercooler sprayer!! I am looking at water injection too, maybe that will help cool the charge a bit. mayeb thats something for you to look at too!!

HA! good car mate! It certainly does something to you when you drive one of those! I managed to get a lift as a passenger in one and look what it did to me!!!

BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I agree with Ritchie, the cost of another helicopter is the same as them buying 100o scoobys! so i dont know whos worse, the police Budget AAuthority or Big al!! But i also have to say, (which is why i griped int he first place) that the police buying and driving these fast response cars is pathetic! When you ask them about HIGH SPEED CHASES, they all tell you the same thing. In reality they cannot chase down cars and bikes because if there is an accident then the IAB get involved, the police officers are put through Inquest, the public start getting the pitchforks out, theres little scarecrows on burning crosses kitted out in police uniforms etc etc! So the whole idea of them needing these cars is Null and Void. Use the money to PAY THE COPS BETTER, that way they wont have to write stupid and unnessecary tickets out, they will feel like they are worth more to the general public, and the whole system and society benefit in the long run. I dont know any cop that is worth their salt who would say, ' i want to have a big fast sportscar as the policecar and ill forefeit a pay rise and the ability to OWN one myself' So all in all, the moral is, Dont spend our hard earned money on a damn GB270 because you think its cool, spend that money on making the police officers worthwile, give them the PROPER equipment they need, (like DECENT vests) and we will all be happy!

nice to see our tax money spent on a sensible cost effective car for the police force.

That is such a sleeper!! When you look on the outside, the car looks really clean and tidy, like a very mildly modded car, and then under that hood is a freaking monster!! Nearly 500hp and over that in tourque!! holy hell, thats impressive and i bet a million youre proud as heck! the engine bay looks VERY clean and tidy, and the mods look very pro (obviously as Andy Forrest had a hand in it!) Ive driven a 400hp and 480lb car on the track and that was firstly breathtaking, secondly, exhillarating, and thirdly ******ng scary!! So your car must be an animal and i am not jealous. No im not jealous... no really im not jealous... Ok maybe a bit jealous.... OK im VERY jealous!! Well done mate!!

I owned a Silver EVO VI for a few years, was altered with roll cage, and various other gubbins, and used it for racing. As a standard car up against a standard scooby, i would say the scooby is the car you need if you are going to use it every day on the road. If you want an excellent track day tool then get the EVo. at the end of the day its horses for courses!! Mitsibushi already make a Lancer Gt for the road, and their EVO is just literally for HOLOMOGATION reasons, to get them out in the population. Why people who drive scoobys have to slag off EVO owners i dont know, and yes, EVO owners do it to Scooby owners too!! Both cars are VERY VERY good vehicles to own. Yes theres some rivalry in the Rally scene but then i dont hear so much slagging of the Focus RS or Skoda, or any of the other Rally Car manufacturers. IMHO there are things on the EVO that are good, there are things on the Subaru that are good, and to be honest the Modifications we do to the cars WE own is what makes them individual! EvOs have their place!

its a 21mm and ylu will have to use an Imact gun, preferably one that is 1" not your normal 3/4 inch gun. i found that these can be VERY tight, and the normal guns just wont remove them!

I have an original pump here if you want it £20

I just found in my collection of C**P some IRON ON INKJET PAPER, im going to have a go at making some of these, maybe i can customise them. If so, then everyone can do their own!! I will let you know how they come out.

Theres a lot of cars nowadays that prefilling just isnt possible. The reason behind pre-filling was to eliminate the initial start up friction in engines of old. They used to have a lot of metal contact (large gap between surfaces allowing the oil to drain away quickly) and the oil pumps took a good 5 or 6 seconds to get oil back to the main journals, and the head. Nowadays within 1-2 strokes there is plenty of oil pressue. That said its ALWAYS a good idea to pre-fill if you can. If you are changing the oil, and the car is only drained and then refilled within 10 or 20 minutes, the oil film left behind from before will remain and the oil will be pumped back there before that has a chance to dispel from the component. i would say that 60% of the cars i work on have lateral filters or USD cartridge type, making prefilling impossible. Also removing the CS or CamS and cranking CAN put the CEL light on and on Renaults can result in the management backstalling and causing some problems when yo do start it. best thing to do in any situation is to change the oil and filter and refill and run the engine straight away. If the car is going to be left without oil in the engine, then remove the spark plugs, a couple of Squirts of good engine oil, and replace the plugs or bung the holes. Then when it comes time to re-fill and start the engine, pull the bungs, refill the engine with fresh oil, then leave ignition OFF and turn the engine over a couple of times manually, (can be done either with a nice tool like mine that hooks a separate battery to the starter motor or you can tow it for 20-30 yards)

Where abouts are you as East Anglia is a big place!!

Just PM me if you need help, always happy to talk you through it.

Dont use paste!!!! Use a decent gasket and DONT USE PASTE!! the paste dries out and cracks and then ends up leaking on the up-pipe!! Been there and had that problem before!!

Defi are good, but not the easiest to fit by any means. They have a much more precise guaging and calibration, so you need to decide wether you want to know whats happening and what boost youre running (to within a 1/2 psi or so) or wether you want to know EXACTLY what boost you are running. personally in my opinion, if you were needing to know what boost youre running to that degree you would also be running other components as well. Those components would probably give you a more accurate reading of boost. From what i can gather here, you just want a boost guage to see what kind of boost you are running for the most part. If thats the case, then i would purchase a Pillar mount pod, and a simple Vac operated Guage, (in PSI or BAR, doesnt matter) and fit them. A lot cheaper and easier for you to do in the long run.

Looks fantastic! But super fast gear changes are probably because they are a semi auto, (or actually in reality they are an automatic with a manual valve body!)

yep, no probs on the PM's mate. Just ask if you need help. Like steven says, it could also be electronic. PM me so we can establish what type you have first.
-
They look nice. Where did you get them and whats the lastability like?
-
Hey Welsh! i have a bag of better luck for you in the post mate!! I bought two bags and ill share! The boost guage sounds like it may have a connection problem somewhere. Could be where it goes through the bulk head, could be a split pipe, could also be a kink in it too. Check all the pipes first HOWEVER, i have removed a couple of units from Skylines that have decided to balk up in the guage itself. Theres not a lot you can do then mate. Is there anyone near you who can lend you a guage to try out? If theirs works fine then you know the guage is pooped. Good luck mate!
-
SIMON why are you unbolting them and swapping them to the other car? Do the sensible thing, fit a half rollcage and a couple of nitrous bottles, a nice Fire extinguisher and then you dont have to anymore!!
-
These will fit all classics, including the FACELIFT. Will not fit Blobeye up

Firstly, choose the position where your boost guage is going to fit. mount it all up but dont fit completely yet. Best advice is to buy a custom pod for the car youre fitting it to. I.E a pillar mount, these look tidy. Next you need to locate a positive battery source, and wire in a simple relay. These can be purchased from Halfords or others. Wire in the hot side of the relay, a negative earth, and then use the side light positive as a switching signal, wire the other end to the guage. Earth the guage somewhere close and with a decent connector. You can wire the lamp direct to the side-light wiring but this is entirely your choice. I fitted a relay system to mine so that i can add other units later if needed without overloading the system. Ok now witht he guage fitted roughly where it needs to be, you can run your Vac hose. You should have a TEE piece with the guage, this has one of the offshoots with a restrictor in it. Locate the pipe coming from the Manifold to the Map sensor, or any of the other vac pipes that FEED from the manifold. There is a few to choose from. In a decent position, cut the pipe in half and insert the Tee. THe other piece goes to the Vac pipe for the Guage. I have a grommet in the bulkhead below the clutch master cylinder, i used that to feed my vac pipe through. Make sure you wrap the pipe with some heatshielding, to stop anu heat from the exhaust melting it. Once the vac pipe is pushed trough, remove the lower part of the dash, and thread the pipe up over the column and tie wrap it in place. Make sure that the clutch, brake and accel. pedal dont foul the pipe in any way. also check the steering does not hit anywhere. Push the pipe up through the side of the dash, and through the pod face. Connect the guage, and mount the guage in. Now finally mount the pod. replace all the lower dash parts, and fire her up. You should get a good Vaccuum reading on idle, and should go to 0 when yo urev the car. When you drive it will show the boost or vac, depending on how hard youre pushing on the gogo pedal. when you let off, it will show a good 30Hg of vac (or should!) If you need more help, let me know.
