GUYS!!! youre using a litre per 100 miles roughtly!! if you still have the cat on the car, and the turbo seals are pumping oil into the exhaust, then the EGT will raise considerably and the Cat honeycomb will catch the oil and burn it off so fast that youll see hardly a drop of smoke out the back! if the rings were gummed, or lined up wrong, youd have NO compression to talk about, and youd use MUCH more than you are! Pull the plugs, ill bet theres hardly any residue there at all! Pull the intercooler inpipe, and you should see minimal oil. Im laying money that the intake side isnt whats using the oil. Ill also bet that the oil isnt getting past rings in that way, so id be inclined to pull the downpipe off, and have a look round the wastegate and the exhaust impeller! ill bet youll find the culprit in the turbo! If those seals go completely, then even with a cat youll get smoke out the back. But the amount youre using is probably burning off in the cat itself. And the oil consumption probably only happens when the engine is hot, and the Impeller shaft seals start to leak. If you had no cats at all, id guarantee you would see smoke!!!
  4. id lay money on it that the engine this guy is buying is a UK spec engine. 340HP?? Not on your life! and 400 from a VF22?? man thats some mapping!!! BUT the engine if its in pristine condition is worth good money regardless, its just a shame someone tries to palm it off as an STI engine. Besides the coil pack is in the wrong place isnt it for a V5 STI? Id offer him 600 unless he can prove with casting numbers that its an STI block and heads.

  14. tell em you have a grass allergy too so you cant ever go near that car again, so youll need the car to be replaced with a new model of equal performance!!
  15. All i can say is that without actually being at the car, and without witnessing the problem, all youll get are ideas mate. What it SOUNDS like is the ECU. And if you had to reset it before, then maybe there could be a problem with the wiring, the plugs or the ECU itself. First thing i would do is to check the plugs on the ECU and make sure they are solid in the body. After that, youll have to wait for it to do the problem again. intermittent problems are absolute hell to pinpoint!! If it does do the problem again, id deffo check the plugs to the ECU, and if it still wont fire, plug a spare ecu in, (known working! )and see if the czr runs then Thermal problems can happen in circuitry.

  18. not if the ecu power shuts down comletely. that way NOTHING would operate, (injectors, fuel pump, spark, etc) but the starter motor will turn over as its a direct link through battery to the starter motor and ign. key. edited as i spelt SHUTS as SH 1 TS!! and it didnt like it!!
  19. hmmm. when you gave it the beans, the fuel cut off didnt activate did it? mind you , you normally have to reset them manually. sounds to me like the ECU just decided to quit, maybe a safety feature of your ecu? cant see anything else that will cause your problem, then just work again.

I think that the piece of film should be played on a big screen to all and everyone at Prodrive on the saturday of the run. Nobody could say what he said better!   24. they do. dont drill it out!!! new stud and nut, fit the stud in the hub (you have to remove the hub) and job done. if you drill it out, what then? magic a stud in there?
