About pistonbroke2

  1. Don't think so mate, the engine in the s2000 is bespoke to the car. Don't get me wrong, its typically VTEC. You have to rev the living **** out of it to make it do anything. Flip side is though that slow town driving is a pleasure.
  2. Yeah, I've read about the adjustment bolts seizing in their carriers. If they snap then all lower arms need replacing and a bill of up to 2.5k is to be expected. I don't think mine have been done, but the tyres are wearing evenly across the board so don't see the need to mess with the alignment any time soon. Steering wheel is also perfectly straight and the original wheels have never been kerbed so it should all be good under there. I have some plans for her already seeing as I have about £1500 to play with. She needs a few cosmetic touches to bring her up to mint condition, then some nice staggered wheels (wider on rear) will follow. She'll then be dropped on tein springs with a buddy club dual exit exhaust. There are a few vids on youtube of aftermarket pipes on these things, my god they are loud!! Nothing like the sound of the deep rumbling scooby, more like a million angry bees
  3. They don't do the blue with red interior. Only silver and black.
  4. Well, after selling the scoob, I was looking into buying a TVR Chimaera. I went to look at loads looking for a good one, but every single one seems to be a complete dog!. I guess I've been spoilt by the build quality of Japanese cars over the years. They rattle, they stink of mould, they are shockingly badly built, from a distance, they give quite a good impression, up close however, I had no idea how bad they were. I then went to look at a Porsche Boxster (yes I know, a moment of madness). I joined a forum to read up on the car. All I asked was how they thought the Boxster would compare to my previous cars, (Supra, Impreza, Mr2 turbo etc etc) and they stereotyped me into a miscreant boyracer. Within seconds of my first post, a boxster owner comes along and says that the Porsche badge is being dragged down by people like me. So, I immediatly stereotyped right back and formed the opinion that all Porsche drivers are C***S. Safe to say, I don't post on there anymore. So, Yesterday I jumped back on the jap scene and picked this little number up. I got an absolute steal (its a proper buyers market at the moment) I knocked £1500 off the asking price and got it for 8K.!! This now leaves me with some money to play with. Wheels first me thinks.
  5. Ive decided, just getting a garage built to house the beast first. I think Hughs just given it away in his little clue. rest assured, its not a slow one Been there, done that. Had a 2ltr laser in brown for a short while. No probem Hugh.
  6. I had to accept the current climate for buying cars (especially post 2002 with the upcoming tax banding ) is quite poor at the moment. People are steering away it seems from the performance car market, forced to do so by the government. Flip side of the coin is that its a buyers market at the moment. Some very good cars can be had for silly money. Example - A potential candidate for my new toy is in a dealer in Sussex, its windscreen price is £13995, I managed to (just over the phone), get it down to under 10k !!!
  7. The new owner of my car was an Evo owner. He saw the light today though
  8. I'd like to take this opportunity to say thankyou to everyone who made my short stint in the ownership of the Impreza a very enjoyable experience. One of the most involved and friendly clubs I've been involved with. I'm a firm believer in that the quality of a club, is down to the members and their attitudes towards one another. You are what makes this club what it is, you're all a credit to the SIDC. If its ok with you lot, seeing as I'm a paid member, I'll keep popping back in occasionally to say hello and see what the latest scandal is. Taking the piss even further, I may show my face at a few of the local meets to show you my new toy. Be gentle though, she's very fragile and not built particularly well.
  9. I can't wait till he see's this thread ;)
  10. Yes mate. When I moved into my house, I didn't realise that the car wouldn't fit in the garage. Its been parked on my driveway since I bought her, I've cleaned her more times than I've driven her. She gets a lot of attention from passing hood rats, and last night a mystery dent appears?!?. I spend all day worrying about her while I'm at work, and all night while I'm asleep. If she was under lock and key out of sight, It'd put my mind at rest. Thing is, I need to build a big double garage at the back of my house to replace the old single one so I can fit a car in there. But the only way I can do that, is to sell the car to fund it.
  11. Those of you that were at the Wharf last night may have seen my mystery dent that appeared in the near side wing. Well, I got onto Matt, (thanks Hugh!! ) and he told me he was down the Grasshopper with the clio lot this afternoon and that I should go down there for him to have a look. Got down there, Matt put all the clios to one side and sorted mine out, he did his thing and made the dent disappear!!. The man is a miracle worker.!! The Clio lot seemed like a nice bunch too, and had nothing but compliments for the Impreza. They didn't seem to mind that I'd turned up at their meet and went to the top of the list for dent work. Thanks Matt. (PS, if the new owner comes on here and see's this about his new car, don't worry, it was only a tiny little dent )

  13. Hello matey, welcome to the gang! Yup, yours is a blob eye. If you look at the SIDC logo at the top of the page, starting top left you have the shape refered to as 'classic', then to the right of that is the much ridiculed (though getting better with age me thinks) bug eye, followed by your blob eye, then the hawk eye and finally the new hatch shape. I'm not sure the new shape has earned an 'eye type' yet, we'll just have to wait and see. So what part of the country will we find you then? Oh and get some pics up of the car for us to have a gander at.!
  14. Yup, my thoughts are, "too much car for the driver", and "driver over confidence".
