  3. << h.mmmmmmmmmmm ok if that is the case then explain this Kerosense with is domestic heating oil and Jet A-1 which is aviation fuel are the exact same product so how come they leave the tower at two different points ??????? just had a thought how come Gas Oil (tractor diesel / Heatin g oil ) and Derv or ULSD are exact same product leave a different points the only difference in all these product is the dye that gets added. Our depots re brand Kero to Jet i.e. they have kero in the storage tank and they put kero into the aviation tank and add dye or vice versa. >> As far as i am aware, remember i am a delivery driver not a Petro-chemist, the variations are down to a diferent start product. Heating oil being produced from Heavy Crude oil and Av-Gas being produced from Light Crude oil. Are Kerosene and Aviation fuel not one and the same. I remember the old piston prop planes used Kerosene. All the above info is based on the Discovery channel and Mrs Graham from 4th year Chemistry ans as i say i am not a petro-chemist Grant
  4. << well................ i use either optimax or bp ulitimate, and with the gems mapped by stevesimpson it seems to make no diffirence, no flashes on the k/link at all, and yes i have had the k/link checked and its working fine! cheers robin. >> Robin with you running GEMS, Esp Gems mapped by Steve, then you could run it on cow juice and you wont see Det. As for the rest of use running JDM cars with std ecu's, try filling your tank with Ultimate Esso SUL or Morrisons cr*p and just watch the Knocklink light up for Christmas when you give the car some stick. When i put Ultimate in the my car, for testing purposes, it would not idle smoothly and the det in the 5-6k rpm range was horrendous. So if it is the exact same, due to coming from the same galleries and tankers then my car is Psycho-scematic and should be booked into the nearsest shrink for some councilling. Technical bit on fuel All Petroleum fuel's, Derv, Gasoil, Unleaded. Parafiin, Kerosene, Optimax, Ultimate and Racing fuel, start off as the same thing called Crude Oil. When Crude oil is heated and put under extreme pressure, in a massive tower, the properties of the Crude Oil change to a more refined product. The higher up the tower the processed Crude Oil leaves the tower, the higher the quality of fuel. E.G Gasoil and Diesel are removed at the bottom of the tower and Racing fuel and Aviation Fuel are removed from the top of the tower. This process is called Refractional Distilisation and is used to create all Hydro carbon based fuel. In the section of the tower with gives out Petroleum, the Normal unleaded [95 Ron] will leave the tower at a point just below Super Unleaded [97 Ron], which in turn will leave the tower just below Optimax [98.6 Ron} which in turn will leave the tower just below std Jap fuel [100 Ron], which in turn will leave the tower just below Jap Super Unleaded [102 Ron]......etc. Bottom of the tower would be Heating Oil and it woulfd increase in quality all the way up the tower, improving in quality at each point it leaves the tower until you get to Av-Gas at the very top with a Ron of 118.
  5. Ultimate is 97 RON Optimax is 98.6 RON Buckfast and Cognac would be a good comparison. Does this mean there is no Shell in Perth Grant
  6. I aint gonna get a refund on the 30 foot banner i ordered today reading................ Grant
  7. << Hey guys, just wondering if you want why not share the DVD on BitTorrent? since its your own production there isnt any legal issues in sharing it? Just a thought, PM me if you need a hand. Ian >> Cause that doesn't raise very much for the Santa Cruise.......Know what i mean. I know we wont raise milions but every wee bit helps and this is a top idea Grant
  8. << Does anyone have the vids of the run? I'd love to see them. >> If you are on MSN then i can send you then 15mb video that Cal shot. My MSN address is at the bottom. Also Swiggi's better half is making some DVD's of the footage the she got, including some cracking exclamations about STI's. I beleive these are going to be soold off for a small fee to raise some funds for Santa Cruise 2005. Grant

  11. Agreed quality gentleman and a whizz at the Aftermarket goodies sourcing and fitting. On the other hand Wilky is a nutter and should not be left alone for any period of time. Grant
  12. Bad thing about atmospheric is the excess fuel which doesn't bang goes down the cylinder walls inti your sump. This makes the oil thin out and the bores wear prematurley due to the oil being washed off. Grant
  13. << << Must disagree Jambo, there is tons of night life in Newton Stewart. There are goats, swans and sheep that party away to the wee sma 'ours. Newton Stewart is for peaople that are close to dying or have died and distinctly smell of old wee. Not a good place for the under 60's to visit let alone stay for any period of time. Another bad point is it is the mecca for Saxo's, as there is a company there, called GMC Motorsport, that specialises in fitting Superchargers onto sh*tty wee Citreon's. When i spoke to this guy he exclaimed that he could get a 1.6 Saxo to 180 horse power and that they could take it due to having bigger big end bearings than a Cossie, i replied When you fit these kits do you give these guys a free attitude problem with matching Burberry hat. Grant Newton Stewart only good for passing through onto the Girvan Road >> OI Grant did you know we had out team name before they did...the ba$tards stole it. just check out their website and see where it takes you? gmc motorsports link >> I knew i had heard the name before in a different context. Next time i deliver to him, i will mention it to him in my own unique subtle manner....... Grant

  15. Try and keep her above half a tank if any major accelaration, braking or cornering is expected. Prior to the jolt the fuel supply drops thus leaning out the mixture being ignited, not good if your giving it some stick. Grant
  16. Smell of petrol in the old oil is not that good but you are doing the right thing by changing the oil. Does the car have a Aftermarket dump valve, if so this could be your cause. You could also be over fuelling dramatically, best to get it checked out. Grant
  17. It is when the fuel sloshes* about in the tank under heavy cornering, accel or braking and the fuel pump pick up cannot maintain a steady supply of fuel. A very common occurance out of the hairpin at Knockhill with under half a tank. * technical term Grant
  18. As title really as Imy wants to natter to Gayle about Wummin stuff about DVD covers and pink cushions. Grant
