  1. every scooby I have owned have made this noise (just to remind me - that I'm in the lose licence speed range)

to cure noise I just lower the window a little and then put it back up. it's just the joy of a frameless window.

    Ed.

Will try the window "down and up" trick and see what happens - never thought of trying that

  2. Good luck there Paul, I cetainly have nothing to add thats not bee said already, sounds crap to me! you don't need a hire car, that's why reputable repairers have courtesy cars...

I think that youve done everything right!

Just my opinion but if she turns funny with you I would tell her to run to f**k.

  3. Hi guys,

Ordered a thermostat along with some coolant from Subaru. Waiting on it arriving, hopefully tomorrow. Get it replaced and the system flushed and see where that takes us!

I think it might be a combination of air lock and faulty thermostat. Heres hoping anyway!

Cheers so far, will keep you updated!

    Graham

I was just going to say ALWAYS replace the thermostst if you have these kind of issues. They can work then fail so it's not worth taking the chance!

  4. I'd say about 8am at B&Q car-park in Elgin. That should give us plenty time to get organised and head through to Inverness for 9:30... Maybe a bit early for some, but just think of the guys heading up from central belt in the morning

Sounds good to me - will have to avoid the usual thrash in the local on Friday night though...........

  5. Probably the windows or mirrors, (assuming no loose bodywork) My old Blob STIs used to suffer from it over 100mph, but strangely the Hawkeye doesn't at all (?????)..

Wouldn't think you'll get that much for the plate, unless of course you find somebody with an 07 scooby and the initials S.V.

My girlfriend bought me MC55 WRC because my initials are M.C. and i think it was somewhere around £250, as were all the plates with SUB and WRC etc. on them. Then again I do think they have all come down in price - so yours possibly was £470 when it was purchased..

    Cheers,

    Mark

My RB makes the same kinda noises but not all the time. Sounds like it's coming from the NSF door area so could be the mirror or the window i suppose. I was going to say just crank up the stereo but the road noise drowns it out anyway!

As for the number plate thing i have bought 3 plates - X4 HOS for myself @ £320, M100 HOS and S100 HOS for wife / daughter were both £250. I did put in a bid for HO55 ACK of £4000 but didn't get it - maybe just as well as there would have been a fight as to who's car it went on!!! B)

  6. Sounds good to me.....

apart fe the early start on the sunday  better count my units

    Rich

Hey Rich, what time / where will we meet up with you guys in Elgin? Think there will be 3 of us, BrianM his mate Lewis and myself.

    I never count units - i'm pished after 5.............. B)

  7. you are all probably sick to death of folk wanting your money and plus, in this recession you probably dont want to give anything to charity.

the recent Jade saga has probably turned you off people fighting cancer but I've got a friend thats got more bags more courage and battled far more problems than that wannabe celebrity had...

    Maggie has fought:

    - cancer in the bowel, had operation then chemo,

    - cancer in the liver, had operation then chemo

    - cancer in the abdomen and lungs, couldnt operate, got chemo

    - travelled to Australia for radical operation to remove lining in abdomen, stomach muscles and remaining tumours, got chemo and radiofrequency ablation

    - post op checkups revealed lesions in liver, large mass in pancreas and a collapsed lung.

    - came home, checkups revealed nodes in small bowel and cancer in the skin.

    - she cant have any more operations, her only options are radiotherapy and chemo to keep it from spreading.

she's been told that she was going to die about 7 times over the past 2 years but she keeps fighting.

she's got 2 gorgeous girls, aged 2 and 4, that gives her the drive to get out of bed in the morning and hassle docs and medics to treat her.

we're doing the Race for Life with her this year and I'm asking for donations, even a fiver will help.

If her story has moved you enough to put your hand in your pocket then you can donate direct to her page here

add "Imy's friend" in the display name, she's not going to have a scooby (pardon the pun :laughing4: ) who you are.

    thanks for reading,

    Imy

C'mon folks, 140 views and only 4 sponsors?

  8. Some background on the car:

I purchased this 4 years ago, a non-turbo model as we were not introduced with that variety until the bugeye was introduced. I, like many other American Subaru owners, have taken the route of turning the car into a model that Subaru should have brought here in the first place. While I don't quite have the funds for the turbo-engine swap or an RHD conversion yet, I've spent the past four years modifying the engine to the best of it's potential, and attempted to replicate a mildly modified WRX inside and out. The full buildup can be found here:

    http://www.rs25.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68654

To further emphasize my statement on this being a completely different world... Where I'm originally from, we usually get about 60cm of snow thorughout a winter. Here in SC, it's rare for the temperature to drop below freezing, let alone be accompanied by any white stuff. In PA, Subaru's are a dime a dozen; Both of my cars are Impreza's, my brother has one, my grandmother has one, two of my cousins have them, my grandfather has one, and my parents are about to purchase one as well. Here in SC, few people even know what a Subaru is. I went from a world where I blended in to a place where I stand out wherever I go. I'm not sure I like it...

I know what you mean. I work for an American company and have been to various towns / cities / states in the USA, and boy are they different! Houston - concrete jungle but ok, Huntsville........not sure what to say, Houma Louisiana - hicksville but very friendly people with a great attitude, Dallas - same as Houston, i could go on and on but suffice to say the differences are amazing. I also go to South Dakota on vacation (long story) and realy like it but boy the culture differences in that State are amazing!

Always amazed at the small number of Impreza's I see though?

  9. What do you mean by "nipping on"? I have a whinning/squelling noise that sounds like its definately wind related going over the wing mirrors at speeds over 90+mph - obviously not on the queens highways I must add ;)

Aye kicks in at anything 80 -90 ish then dies out at about 110?

  10. When "nipping on" in the RB i get a loud "resonating / humming / vibrating" noise from the NSF area (i think). Does not happen all of the time but when it does its really anoying - pretty sure it's wind noise of some kind.......aye, wind noise from outside, not human generation!

  11. I'll probably get locked up for this. but if the Police wont or more likely can't do anythign about it due to lack of evidence e.t.c.. Then I totally agree vigilante is the way to go! Get our own network of survelence going and strart tracking the location of vehicles as much as possible.. Even better if we track any of the suckers down get a blacked out van with baseball bats!!!

P.s. If any of you police-ey peopel read this.. No offence to you, I have a lot of respect for the work you guys do.. But how are we supposed to just "accept" these thigns are happenign to good honest owners of motorvehicles? I'm all for police help.. But if for whatever reason that's not good enough to track down the criminals and we are expected just to sit back and let criminals get away with these crimes while WE pay the price every time!.. Sod! that.. Action must be taken!!!!!! The more they get away with it, the more it's goign to happen! Its needs to be stopped!!! IMHO!

    :)

  12. Yep same option is available on the standard bugeye alarm (and proabably others).. Not convenient for every day use as it means setting off the alarm every time.. But if the car is left alone for any length of time, that feature woudl be used.. Full Lockdown by disabling the keyfobs.. If anyone want's to know the option on teh std alarm lemme know. I've got a manual for them all somewhere...

The blackjax system let you get in as normal and drive off.. But if you dont type int eh pin code in a cartain time the car shuts down and sounds the alarm.. IDea is that if you are carjacked you hadn over the keys and get yourself to s asafe place to call the police.. System is automatically activated when a door is opened. SO jacker gets in drives off.. 2 miles down teh road the car shuts down for no apparent reason.. There's no warning inside the car that a system like that is active!! It's one of the best systems I've heard of..

BTW - The RB320's have a fancy alarm system with rediculous features... GPS trackign and car stats sent to your mobile! WTF!

. o O (Dear god! my typing is getting worse!)

Was sitting outside the bank in the RB320 the other day waiting for the wife, she comes out and **** knows what i did but the alarm goes mental. Got the alarm to shut the **** up (little kids pointing and laughing their wee a***s off by this time :) ), starts up the car and off we go. 2 minutes later I get texted to my mobile, car reg number, GPS Co ordinates and the time the alarm was activated. 30 seconds later i get the car reg again, the postcode and exact adress where the alarm went off.......neat or what?

I can send a message and it will tell me exactly where the car is, what the temperature is and the battery voltage. Can also be set to send a text when it goes over a certain speed - i remind the garage of this when i put it in for a service!! :D

  14. you are all probably sick to death of folk wanting your money and plus, in this recession you probably dont want to give anything to charity.

the recent Jade saga has probably turned you off people fighting cancer but I've got a friend thats got more bags more courage and battled far more problems than that wannabe celebrity had...

If her story has moved you enough to put your hand in your pocket then you can donate direct to her page here

add "Imy's friend" in the display name, she's not going to have a scooby (pardon the pun :icon_fU: ) who you are.

    thanks for reading,

    Imy

Glad to do this - we all know someone who has been affected by this monsterous disease.

I've sent the link to Maggies page to friends and collegues as well.

  15. Be aware that when you check into some hotels and they issue you with a swipe card for the room door your card details may be copied onto the room key card! One of our guys had his details cloned and the hotel admitted that they do this for "security reasons"?? I ALWAYS take the door swipe card with me when i leave and shred it - you should all do the same IMO.

  16. At the risk of upsetting some of you sensitive souls out there i feel compelled to mention my disbelief and disgust at the News of the World running a 12 page special on this numpties funeral?

i wonder what we will see in the national press when they start the funeral services for the 16 guys who lost their lives on the chopper crash? I'll have a guess at a half page, somewhere in the middle of the fcukin paper if that!

I read one or two of the comments from "fans", Mr I Donthavea****inmindofmyown from Essex says "she was an inspiration to us all" - eh no, i don't fcuking think so ye *****r, save your so called grief for those who deserve it and stop jumping on the band wagon of this poor bitches miserable existance. :D
