  1. Had it a few times parking next to friends where they ask what's wrong with my brakes - I just reply with "it is one of the downsides of having upgraded performance brakes" - seems to keep them quiet with a changed expression of nearly being impressed . It can be fixed I think, someone with more tech knowledge than me will explain soon enough. I've just left it as is.
  2. Good work on the polishing, what did you use with the DA ? A few nice reflections. How's about getting the car sitting a tiny bit lower and close that arch gap.
  3. welcome to the squeaky brakes club ! I won't make a fool of myself trying to explain it but some do have it I believe - I've had it with my last two sets of pads. Nothings really wrong with the braking ability so don't panic, just a little embarassing when you park and folk look sympathetically at you.
  4. Felt nippy enough to me that day Bobby, good man keeping it ! Looks good Tommo. 17's may sit a little better on it but the colour/style definitely complement the car !
  5. Looking good. Gotta love the shine on a black car...mine in progress / bits at mo.
  6. No car detail is worth that - end of ! Mind you, people pay it so why not offer it, more money than sense. Also heard of someone that was flown out with equipment to some Middle East country to detail a fancy car or two at great expense !! (okay so I read the whole report and it's him!!) Lets face it, no point driving it after that !
  7. Will look a lot better - and may even feel a little less restrictive too ? My exhaust isn't too loud either, live in a respectable neighbourhood n all that !!
  8. Sorry to hear that Kenny, get there in the end and it'll be stronger than ever.
  9. Aw it's tough rumble rumble sometimes Kenny. You just bury yourself pop bang in work and try not think too much about your car brum brum back home, sitting all nice n tuned ready for you to take it out and really enjoy its new lease of life burble, before you know it you'll have forgotten about ALL those lonnnnng slow days just now that you can't get to use it, and it'll forgive you for neglecting it leaving it sitting doing nothing while you work all that way away !! peep peep Just out of interest, is it finished now ?
  10. SNet not an option for you John ? I know ebay is a good outlet for selling the car, and often a bargain to be had, but personally I'd be mega cautious and a last resort if doing it myself. Used gumtree and it is handy being free, but the audience is quite localised. No harm trying and easy to use. Have you considered changing the wheel colour back ? We all get the reason for it on here but those outwith this site may not get the Irn-Bru theme ?? Just a wee thought, chose to ignore and not meant to offend or belittle in any way. ...and give me that engine bay over, get it hosed out . There's a lot of time and money gone in to your car, hope it all works out for you JW.
  11. Think your inbox will expand if you pay membership also - maybe want to have that confirmed before I have you parting with money .
  12. There's more than one way to get close to it, ScoUK suggestion is one way. For me, I have a 2004 WRX and until recently had it running at about 280bhp, the bits I changed were decat up-pipe(wrapped), sportscat downpipe (half wrapped), decat rest of pipe work, new backbox, panel filter, Y-pipe and walbro fuel pump - then AndyF remapped it. Still passed emissions no problem. Was quicker in any gear, more fuel efficient (so I believe ) and noticeable pick-up improvement. With the standard turbo you'll not really squeeze much more power out of it than about the 280bhp mark.
  13. Either someone that have used for years and trust or when it is something very much Subaru specific that others on here have tried , tested and been happy with. Garages that know of this site are very aware of good service as opinions of customers is important.
  14. Looking good. You think they'd have been upset with a few donuts (no not the eating ones!) on the grass . Was there a couple of weeks ago, lovely wee spot in our country - well when the sun shines anyway.
  15. Back windows have what you want on there. Fronts have to allow a certain percentage light through which isn't always easy to guage by eye as modern cars I believe have a slight tint in the glass anyway. Basically it would be the lightest tint majority of companies offer.
  16. Is that the ones in the Business park off the expressway ? I now have a number for someone in there that Parks sometimes use.
  17. My wife had a 52reg roadster 225 prior to our daughter being born. She loved all 3 1/2 years of it and tried very hard to get me to change my Scoob for the sensible car...she failed obviously as the Scoob has 4 doors ! It never really quite felt like 225, but it was quick and delivery of power was smooth, but didn't like being driven hard. The finishings were decent and well held in place, and apart from a never explained ocassional squeak from the suspension it was very quiet. The car always got admiring looks...or was it just me driving it ?? Outside servicing it needed very little, a switch needed replaced which while under warranty the Audi service mobile came out to fix at our home. Think come trade-in time it would've needed new discs/pads but that's just wear and tear. Buckled a wheel once and Audi wanted £500 for the alloy alone, ebay £150 with tyre used twice !! In fact stay away from Audi garages if you can as everything was a fortune. Think economy wise it was okay, from memory just over the 30 mark from mainly countryside and town driving. Maybe we just had a good one, or that it was well looked after with low miles, but our experience was a good one. If space wasn't an issue we'd get another one, but the new shape.
  18. Looking for someone tried and tested that does window tinting preferably in Lanarkshire area, Glasgow okay to. Even better would be if they are mobile. I know of Pentagon.
  19. Happy Birthday Stewarty, have a nice one !
  20. Votes for either of them being very good, will chat over options no problem too with you. Alyn gave me a wee discount I think last time too !
  21. ooo that's nice looking. Looks well looked after as well. Enjoy.
  22. So you're not planning on a replacement filter, and going for a cone then Kenny ? In Barry's last time found a rabbit, old ladies shopping basket......and some familiar looking gravel!!??? Must admit that from the outside Barry's look faily neat n tidy given diy.
  23. Hey Stevie, not sure what car you have to look at trying to answer you downpipe cat question, but going by your pic and the general answer : replacing as many of the cats as possible will give for greater gains, with the cat'd dp in wouldn't expect anything big gains wise but it will be more than now for sure and give a driving feel that's better. Have a read on Andy's website to see if that helps any. Some of the exhaust and air filter are heading in the right direction. Can be a few weeks to get a booking with Andy, just to keep in mind.
  24. I think that this group buy was to be taken before 06 July, but it'd be best to ask Andy himself. Oh no Kenny, do I see bad news on the horizon ? Nothing serious I hope.
  25. Shame your intro to Scoobs is not the best...so far. On the bright side surely can only get better !! Good though that you are sticking with the model as you just seem a little unfortunate. The amount of work to get done is a lot and will cost a fair amount, some items there that you don't need to pay for if you keep the car a while. Also with the guarantee bit it's a bit of piece of mind. As for what to do - I think only you can decide that. Pro's and Con's but only maybe's. Maybe this will fix all the engine issues and you'll have a great running car / mibbee not. Maybe you take the money back and get a better example / mibbee you'll get a car with its own set of new issues. If you do take the car perhaps asking for some time to drive around in the car to be happy yourself that everything is okay. In that time take it to one or two specialists and ask them to have a quick check/listen/etc to the engine and get their professional opinion. Hope all works out.
