Got Pulled By The Friggin Police Today
ur.a.bus replied to scoob fae ork's topic in Scottish Scoobies
another good 1 was without the car:L was going camping up skye a few years ago and took a half day holiday to get sorted. left work at lunch and stared to walk the 3 miles home, got about 2 miles when i spotted an un marked car looking at me as they drove passed, thought nothing of it and carried on walking with head down, then i was aware of somone in front of me, stepped to 1 side so did he, stepped to the other again so did he, he then pulled out cid badge and said someone fitting my discription had broke into a house and would i mind jumping in the car with him so he could take me to the house and someone could tell if it was me or not. as i had just finished work and knew i'd done nothing wrong i jumped in the car (the house they were taking me to was just behind where i lived so i thought it would save a bit of walking ) got cuffed to 1 cop and asked to stand outside the car and the other cop ran up the flats and was to get a neighbour to look out window and clear me (or so i thought) next thing the cop comes out the flats and says sonny your nicked they were about to take me to the cells but i managed to get them to take me back to work where a work mate said it could not have been me as i was at work and had not long finished, then the cops let me out the car back at work and had to make to journey home for a second time the scary thing was if i had been on a full days holiday and was just walking up the road i would have been done for breaking into a house as i'd have no witnesses for me and just 1 old woman who said i broke into the house -

also if you ever get stopped never jump out the car:L i thought i'd be a nice guy another time when i got stopped. i pulled up, took seat belt off, and walked up to the cop car to ask what the problem was. i then got a fine for not wearing a seat belt , i tried to say i had just taken it off to get out the car but they were having none of it. i went straight to a friend who is inspector for traffic, he sorted the fine out and said ALWAYS wait in the car so they can see i have the belt on when they come to my window steve -

i had a similar experence. got stopped driving a mates car home as mine was off the road a few years back, it was 1.30am and i did not mind the check as has been said before if no cars got stopped police would never find stolen cars. i got asked if it was my car by the 2 young cops, i said no its a pals, they then asked if i was insured, i said yes, they asked if i had fully comp, i said no:L next thing they were out with the cuffs and wanted me out the car, i asked what the problem was and they said driving with no insurance, i tried to explain i had third party but had drive any car added. they said it was impossible to have drive any car if i don't have fully comp, to which i asked them if they worked as cops or insurance company. i refused to get out the car to get cuffed as i was outside my house parking when i got stopped and was not getting cuffed and taken to the cells at 1.30am when i have work at 8am and i had the documents in the house if they wanted to see them first, which they never. 30 min later there sarg arrived and asked what the problem was, i said all i want is a chitty to produce my insurance the next day and he agreed that its not the police job to argue over my cover and chitty was issued. the next day the 2 young police were at my door to say sorry for giving me a hard time -
knew i'd seen MVM before somewhere but could'nt remeber where i'd heard the name.. until i went on ebay, most of the cars have lost reg dates so alot of the classics are 1st jan 08 no cheapo road tax then. dropped price from £16,500 and still alot at £10,995 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-SUBARU-IMPREZA-...A1%7C240%3A1318

have tried to get a few of these things (hats and t shirts), even went to my DC store but they cannot get them in. the only thing i've found in this country is a seller on ebay who sells the shoes steve

i got caliper service kits from this guy last year but i don't see any listed just now, could be worth asking. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Import-Car-Parts-...0QQftidZ2QQtZkm the pack had the 4 new seals, 4 new clips, 4 new pistons and bleed nipple cap. it cured my sticking piston problem steve

went to inverness last night to see the view, when i parked up at inverness the car would not start again straight away when i found a better spot. left it till after the concert (expecting to have to call the AA) and it was fine till about pitlochery when the car died just as i was passing a layby once stopped i started it again got to perth, filled tank up (as i thought i had more crap in tank) and got home. today i opened the tank expecting to see more crap but its all clean. i am getting 2 codes, 12 = starter signal and 32 = air flow could the air flow make the car do this (not start and break down) or is it more likely to be the fuel pump relay? steven
-
the spanish 1 was a bit sneaky
-
changed the fuel pump about 6 months ago to a walbro and skipped the step about cleaning the tank cover before opening filter on the pump was blocked and some crap in the wee basin part of the tank, all cleaned and fixed now.

posted another problem i had with car breaking down but this is unrelated. anyone else get this? everytime i drive from glasgow to perth my check engine light pops on a few miles south of perth on the A9 and goes off at the broxden round about. (heading north only) its done this for the 2 years i've owned car. its coming up as code 22 (knock if i remember) i only use car as a weekend runner and drive up to skye, fort william around country side very regulary (usually do about 200mile runs) and the check engine light never comes on but always pops on south of perth heading north coming towards perth last night and my mate asked if it had came on again, i said no then guess what....check engine light popped on i am starting to think something could be interfering with ecu possibly aerial or something?

as title, had a strange one last night, took a pal through to glasgow from dundee to look at a car, had no problems at all with the car. got back to dundee at 11pm and was outside my pals house chatting as i dropped him off with car idling away fine, then i heard the revs drop sounding as if ran out of petrol, car died and would not start. got a lift home, went back to car today and it started no problems and drove it home. any ideas what this could be, bit worried it could happen again further from home. its my99 uk turbo cheers steve

my classic has the bug wheels and i have 225/45's as they were on when i got the wheels (never rub), will be going for 215/40's when it comes to replacing them, mainly due to the extra hight the car now has. i think you can put pretty much any width of tyre on a wheel, too narrow and the ride is very hard and too wide and you get roll in the corners though. my mate runs 10.5" wide tyres on his 7.5" wide wheels, on his jeep. steve

1. If your sidelights won't switch off look for the parking light switch on top of the steering column . 2.Use the search function on the forum before asking the same old question . 3. The best first mod for an impreza is the exhaust (backbox at least) 4. Buy a classic 5. Make sure you get regular quality oil / filter changes every 3 - 4000 miles 6. Always run the car on good quality fuel - V Power/BP Ultimate/Tesco 99 and add octane booster for safety in an unremapped import 7. Avoid "chip"ing an impreza - get it remapped by an expert like AndyForrest (Apexi for classics, ECUtek for newage) 8. Sell the Newage and buy a Classic 9. Always wait till the engine is nice and warm before giving it full pelt and let it cool down befrore switching it off 10. Upgrade your brakes before modding the engine 11. A VTA dumpvalve isnt really a good idea unless your car is getting remapped to compensate for it. It will momentarily make your car run rich as the ecu gives fuel for air which has been dumped and not recirculated. All you are missing is the gay noise. 12. Solid rear droplinks and a decent suspension geometry set-up are probably one of the best sub-£100 modifications you can do to a standard car. 13. new ages will undertseer when at the limit 14. If you have a classic get Strutt Braces. The improvement is outstanding! If you have a new age...no luck! loL! 15. Clean out the boost solenoid once in a while and dont fill engine oil right up to max. 16. Go to the SIDC track days at knockhill, you get free tuition from an instructor if you want (plus ensure you wear Cat boots far better that way!!!!) 17. Love every minute of driving and owning it (it will make handing over the credit card much easier 18. Goto meets/Knockhill/Crail and tell us who you are?We don't bite sometimes 20. Join the SIDC and you'll get discounts on insurance and dealer supplied parts in addition to track days. 19. For some obscure reason there is a lot of mention of goats & homosexuals in here. Do NOT let this put you off our forums. 99% of our members are "normal" but we are all fans of The Hoff. 20. Always prefill the oil filter when doing an oil change 21. Dont believe everything you read on the forums. 22. Send off for a Shell card 23. What ever BHP you get, you will never be happy 24. BLUE is the best colour. 25. Is your car standard? - leave it that way. 26. Watch out for the Impreza's "lift-off" oversteer. It's wicked, particularly on a wet Knockhill! 27. wave to other scoob drivers 28. never buy a set of lexus rear lights[+o(] 29. sidc love some photography of your beloved 30. dont sell your scoob you will regret it and will end up with another 1 31. The best place to hang out on saturday nights is at OSIDC 32. Modding is for MEN 33. Going JDM is for winners..........leave the chocolate UK's to the Willy Wonka lovers! 34.^^Andy speaks the truth, JDM is the way forward!! 35. K.I.S.S. Keep it simple stupid and don't mod what doesn't need modding (dump valves etc) 36.NEVER let the other half known how much youve spent on the car.she will be jelious! 37. Dont go to Halfords for your servicing parts - they are more likely to give you filters for a lada or skoda. 38. the bright button really does just make the clock brighter 39. Never believe anything read on Ebay 40. Never buy a impreza when you get 10 spare ST2 (spaceman) 41. CLASSIC ARE The GREATEST IMPREZA BUILT. 42. Try not run your impreza top end as the boxes dont last long(went through 3 last time) 43. Believe the petrol gauge - yes it does use that much! 44. if you have mudflaps watch when reversing near kirbs or they get caught on wheels and bye bye back bumper
