Ashamed to say it but I'm not liking that... Not my cup of tea.. Much prefer the standard STi with silver alloys! *drool* No really.... My brother recently told me he got an swooshing red LED kit for the scoop on his RB320

Nice looking machine! And surrounded by some great roads! Was thinking about planning a wee run for the Elgin/Moray boys down to Fort William sometime.. Welcome!

Mcrae Gathering - Looking For Thermal Label Printer

Been thinking about buying one of these myself actually.. But price always seemed too high.. Would love to know where to get a cheaper one! -
I'm usually quite good at these things but I'm justa bout stumped.. Fairly sure Japanese! The style fo the interior is bit of a givaway... Possibly Mid 90's? The wing looks like a MG mid sized wing but it's not that... Honda is a possible.. But not sure of the style of wing... I'm with 4hero.. in saying a Nissan skyline of some sorts... Although not sure about the body line... But then I've only seen them in black and never paid that much attention to them...

^^^^ Wot he said... Basically lift off mid corner (when hammering a bit) and some of the weight rolls to the front of the car leaving the ar$e end to get light and loose grip with the road surface. Causing the front end to bite to the road and the back end to loose traction. This results in the rear end stepping out due to lack of grip, which mid corner would normally result in you goign a*** first into a tree unless your expecting it.. Fortunately only "really" an issue at near limit speeds.. Normal driving shouln't really result in such a violent effect.. Similar, but useful effect can be had by lightly braking into a corner to get the front end turned in. "Trail braking".. This lets the front of the car weight up slightly to get the front end gripping and turned into the corner while the back end gets loose, then maintain near constant speed to mid conrner near the apex then back on the power to exit with good traction. Result should be very smooth cornering without any sudden changes in speed or direction.. Just thought i'd add that not ALL cars suffer lift-off oversteer... Some suffer lift-off understeer which is probably what youd be expecting to happen... Lift off mid corner and front end looses grip because the front wheels slow down yet not pushed down into the road to obtain grip but rather the weight of the car pushes the car forward/wide on the corner resulting in hitting a tree head first... Although the impreza is known for it's lift-off oversteer it's worth noting that it is a fairly stable car unless your really hammering! i.e. driving too fast for public roads... Worth giving it a try on a track though just to know what it feels like..

hah! cool, never heard of that one! that woudl have been cool! I see your point that hte blue/orange can go together with the Irn-Bru connection.. And your also right that the graphics somehow always look better when they are on the car ratehr than photoshopped.. Looking back at the intial mock up.. the sides look good (minus the gumball references).. But I think the sunstrips are a little too big.. / in yo' face maybe a different design.. keepign the subaru theme.. But again that's maybe jsut hte photoshop effect.... Infact maybe just as per SWRT design Smaller /shorter text and a single DC logo at the left.. so: [DC LOGO] DCSHOECOUSA But smaller... same size of backing strip but smaller graphic.. Just a thought.. Look forward to seeing it when it's done actually...

NOw I do like the above photos! That' looks great! Maybe part of the problem is that a WR BLue impreza looks best with some sort os swooshes because that's what were used to seeing.. Seems that any other colour is easy to find a design for, but when applied to the blue it doesn't look right! THe same will do doubt be for the chequered effect.. It looks good on black and the white because those are the chequered flag colours. Where as Blue and yellow naturally go together and in the car world that says Impreza WRC no matter what design is on it.. I think it's great to see welsho still considering graphics.. Somethign suitable will come along if you keep getting ideas! And it's will hopefulyl be good! But I think that somethign new and unique is maybe the way forward.. Perhaps with SIDC branding

Ok... starting to look as though my intial understanding was right.. No such think an a UK300 in classic form.! Bugeye was the only UK300 (using the daughterboard ECU chip rather than remap for ppp? ) Blobeye had a WRX300's (anyone know the spec of this? simialr upgrades to the UK300?) Hawkeye, most recently had the GB270 range of both saloon and wagons.
-
Just checked the weather forecast and Saturday looks to be the better of the two days.. So I'll be heading through for the open day tomorrow.. Anyone else?
-
So no later classics were "officially" branded as UK300's? which included prodrive goodies? I origonally though it was just Bugs.. Then heard a few peopel (on various forums) claim their classic was a UK300 model.. Then recently been hearing about Blobs being UK300's. So I was well confused.. But it's starting to clear up now thanks;)

I don't wanna say this but no...... I like the idea of the monster one, but the mock up wasn't qutie right somehow... The other design I quite like is the team USA one. Now with red Bull livery: http://rally.subaru.com/event_2008_snodrift_gallery.html Scroll down near the bottom of that page Blue Hawkeye with Team USA/REd Bull graphics.. Different, but not too different fromt eh SWRT graphics you had before..

Bugging me this... I always thought the UK300 editions were a range of classics then later a range of Bugeye impreza's... But I hear there were more than this ie.. blobeyes.. Anyone know the true facts behind the UK300 special editons? When, What models, specs... Curious to know... Thanks,

Fair point... But the people they want to buy it will be turned away from it with a review like that... No real world driving and not much good to say about it.. = Not good for sales. I'm sure subaru would have prefered it if 5th gear haden't bothered... Now if they compared it to say.. a focus ST then maybe Tiff woudl of had more to say.. Being able to compare it to what else is out there.. IMHO

I have to agree that the review was pretty lousy.. Not road tested, only mocked that it was gutless in standard mode (that's the whole point for easy drivability in town and economy) and then decided the fancy E-Diff was useless because the car still suffered lift off oversteer! Most cars suffer from that unless it has AYC or fancy ESP's and stuff. The Impreza does have a clever diff which he showed relatively well but little praise was given for its effect. Is the lack of extra electronics a bad thing for the impreza? maybe with other cars now having electonic wizadry.. But the Impreza is reliable because it relies mosly on mechanics than electonics for it's grip and handling. Also it leaves the driver more involved with the driving. And TBH for drivign on the public roads you want a car to be as stable as possible.. Not tail happy sliding on every bend! Same goes for being on a track. The review wasn't up to the decent standards I've come to expect from Tiff / 5th Gear (BTW - I'm not expecting much from TG, but I hope to be surprised)... I got the feeling the whole review was a rushed just to fit the STi in at the end of the series. The 08Sport got a road test by Tiff (briefly).. The blobeye was tested on the roads by Plato as was the bugeye WRX both very good reviews. Tiff and VBH drove STi versions on the track.... Should have handed it to Plato first IMHO... THen we'd of had a true review.. Few weeks later give it to tiff and VBH for a STi / EvoX shootout on a track!
-
Ohhhh dear............ Just as well it's last in the series or we'd have to boycot 5th gear....
-
I think it's out on it's own... But they should really put it against the WRX IMHO just to show how much a difference there is! I hear there is a shoot out between the new Focus RS and a Cossie though! SHould be a good program! (Last in series)
-
Well if you change your mind just stick a couple goldfish in there Looks good on the black though! Well DOne!
-
At least the shame of the WRX only lasted a week! Here comes the STi!! Tiff better make a good job of it!

Cheers Grant! Great service guys! The car was clean and spotless when I left this morning! Honest! I was concerned about making the long trip down and it being worthless. But I have to say I'm well impressed! GOod thourogh check over the car and got a nice set of braided hoses fitted too! Brakes "feel" better now..! Time will tell, may still decide to upgrade the pads/discs at somepoint! But happy so far! Didn't think I'd say this as it so far away but I can defiantely see myself beign a returning customer! Need to find out where that exhaust leak is coming from.. Thanks V' Much!

Heading down there to see the lads tomorrow to get a service! Hopefully they will be nice to me

My car's booked into AWD tomorrow for a service! Eep! Don't fancy driving down there and back on snowy roads! wet road fair enough...
