  1. since the PPP offer for WRX's has annoyingly finished i'm looking to get a bit more from the car via the back box/map and filter route. What are everyone's thoughts on just getting a box on its own? I'm not wanting hassle at MOT time so i was going to leave the cats/rest of the pipes unchanged but i would like a little more noise and performance. Now, not after an ear splitting din, don't want problems with the neighbours and would like to keep all my teeth, plus its a wagon and i've been told that the open boot means extra noise anyway. What's good on a budget or is a back box alone likely to make next to no difference? cheers! 5t.
  2. unbelievable stuff in this thread. only saving grace is that they do clearly have them, these chavs clearly have no morals whatsoever, obvious they don't even feel remotely sorry or scared about getting done. Chances are they'll suddenly 'forget' who was driving so they won't get done. Amazed the car wasn't nicked to be honest. Obviously the police will be looking into insurance and mOT and charging him with that too... From the pics it seems lucky that you didn't have a passenger or the accident could have been a lot worse. 5t.
  3. either trained on another bit of the car or he was basically giving you flannel and didn't have you at all. The other car would have messed up his readings and people have got off with that in court before. How far away was he? the beam spreads pretty fast so they are only actually meant to use it at close range (although often don't) sounds like your lucky day though, get some lottery numbers on! 5t.
  4. Just had cambelt done. They didn't try to stick me for a tensioner and washed the car as it came in a bit mucky. That last bit had me touching cloth when i pulled up outside the house and saw the steam though, they'd done the engine and i never noticed. They did say that the SIDC PPP offer had sold out though. Is that true? I was saving up! 5t.
  5. i believe 64mm is standard bike size. You can have a bike size plate on your import but they were wrong to say there is no law covering imports. proper muppets. 5t.
  6. thanks paul, was wondering if it might be some wire or something i could check myself. hoping it is damp in the sensor from the rain but fuel could be a good point. put some more fuel in yesterday and will be doing a bit of running around at the weekend so that might convince it that it is ok! Going in for cambelt soon anyway so if it doesn't go away by itself i'll get Iain Grieve to run a check on it. cheers.
  7. cool another local motor. look forward to seeing you around! 5t.
  8. yeah alarm was left on but only for a week so shouldn't be that run down. Battery charged now so alternator doing its job at least. No one got any suggestions for a sensor or anything? book just says "emissions" but car seems to be running fine even if it can't decide where to idle (decided on just under 1k for the 30 miles from edinburgh and that feels ok - better than 500 at least) 5t.
  9. Looking for some advice on this... the little orange light has come on the dash. A panicked check of the car's manual says 'emissions system fault' and that the car is drivable but needs a check. I want to know what the problem might be and potential fixes/costs if anyone knows! Newage btw. So the story... Been away in Cyprus for a week, brilliantly left car at parents place in Rotherham... yes the place that has been on the telly under water the past week while i was experiencing 45 degrees in the shade... Didn't actually end up under water but obviously had a lot tipped on it while it was sat outside for the week. When i went to start her up the starter was very slow - dodgy battery thinks i. Anyway, had to go get some petrol before the garage shut so took it literally two miles up the road to esso. On attempted re-start the first turn of the key produced a high pitched 'beep' (best description i can think of) but next attempt produced the same slow start (understandable given engine had only been run for a couple of minutes.) Pulled up back outside the house with the idea of leaving her to idel a bit to charge up and all of a suddent the idle shot up to 2k and the engine emissions light came on. revs then bounced between 1k and 1.5k before settleing just under the 1k The light is still on after the long run home and a couple of stops so i guess the three strike rule to make it go away seems like it might be out and there really is a problem. Given the fact the car was just stood and is currently driving fine (albeit with the warning light on) the only difference seems to be a 500rpm idle speed. Any ideas before i give a kidney to subaru? 5t.
  10. does seems harsh. worth noting though that most modern cars already come with the windows tinted to the legal limit so if you add anything extra you will probably be illegal. your tinting company should be able to advise on whats legal and whats not (although it seems most just take the money and let you worry about it) 5t.
  11. some nice ones there. good day had by all i believe. cheers to iain for the breakfast rolls and making the car look decent in 5 minutes! 5t.
  12. this thread just restored my faitrh in humanity see y'all tomorrow looks like i'll be the deathly silent one! standard box on mine too. sort of a 'whirr' sound is as good as it gets! Saving up for the PPP! 5t
  13. Cool, well up for it. Missing my cousin's 18th but sent him a prezzie so he can't moan! 5t.
  14. free bump. we'll still be there. sorry you've been let down though! anyone from original thread able to take this up? 5t.
  15. certainly looks preggers. proper fatty then. take it police didn't turn up then? hope it goes quickly through the insurance. i got hit by a coach last year that was on the wrong side of the road on a blind bend. they are fighting it though because they contacted my witnesses last week - crash was in december! good luck glad everyon seems ok. 5t.
  16. aye, chip a diesel up and it'll cream most other things for the money and the mpg will be better than any petrol motor. 5t.
  17. might be able to make this. pretty standard car and wr blue to boot but its a 03 wagon so might be a tad different. might have to come to you for a shine first though! m.
  18. Hi mate, as promised post about the car and possible suspension work. Basically looking to lose the understeer (being a newage) but don't want to spend a fortune on it (with coilovers etc) and still want a decent ride, not super harsh, might go on the odd forest road once in a while. Say what you suggest but it is looking like anti dive and some rear kit plus maybe a front strut brace. The car is a MY03 Wagon WRX (not bug eye) in case that makes any differences! Kit plus fitting please! martin.
  19. Agreed re DynoTile. Product looks fab but the page should be flagged up as "advertising feature" or something. The bit about people looking for it before they bid on the house was well ropey cheese! 5t.
  20. Looking at that you need a tyre too. Bad luck chap! 5t.
  21. Where's is good for suspension set up in the central area? Having read the top tips on here i'm thinking the whiteline anti dive and the rear ARB for my 03 wrx but where is best to get them fitted + have the suspension set up? Also, powerstation the place to order from or does anyone on here know a man.... 5t.
