  1. Both Steve Whitson and Alyn at As performance can have the block pinned for you. There is however no definitive proof for or against this as far as I can find.
  2. They were all semi closed deck blocks to start with not open deck blocks.
  3. Sorted then few been broken on scoobynet at the minute.
  4. 0191 410 3770
  5. When you get the bolts run the bolt through from the opposite side to the side with the damaged thread and hopefully the bolt will clean the thread up.
  6. The front bolts for the brembo's are matched to the caliper they are nothing to do with the hub. They are a totally different size to the rears and to subaru 4 pots. Are the threads on the caliper damaged.
  7. 99.99% certain they are M12X1.5 and 53mm long. Give Alyn at AS Performance a ring I know he has stock of these as I had exactly the same issue and he had them in stock at a fraction of the subaru price.
  8. The only reason to use Newage WRX hubs is if you want to easily fit the 2 pots and retain the R160 diff and shafts. If not then go for newage STI 100 PCD rear hubs and shafts and find an R180 diff.
  9. http://bbs.scoobynet.com/full-cars-breaking-for-spares-438/879898-fresh-in-for-breaking-2006-2-5-wrx-sl-hawkeye.html If you retain your current hubs you will also have to chop or remove the back plates, which is a good idea anyway regardless of what hubs you use.
  10. looms for classics are cheap to pick up its newage looms that are fetching decent money. Just make sure you get the right loom for your year of car.
  11. Alex you need the bigger shoes that Ian godney does. But to be honest for what the shoes cost you would be far better changing the rear hubs to newage WRX hubs, that way you can fit the 2 pots and retain your R160 rear end.
  12. Where is the damage. Is it across one of the mounting holes. Can you post a pic as it depends on how bad it is. If its as if someone has cut a slot across one of the mounting holes on the outside edge? If so its debateable if you need to get it repaired. I had this on a 16G I had and it had been on the car for years like that and I ran it for a full season of hills and sprints with no issues and no worsening of the defect. I just made sure I used a decent washer to spread the load. If your worried I am sure it could be welded and ground flush.
  13. Thats one of the bonuses about a mapping session with Andy its also like a health check of your engine and sensors plus the remap.
  14. We are all wiser after the event but as I found out there are few avenues to help out. I had a similar a few years ago on scoobynet. Bought a gearbox which never turned up. I had paid a small amount from my paypal balance and the bulk from my credit card. Paypal would not help as it was not an ebay auction, so lost the small amount. I then contacted my credit card who repaid the amount i had paid using my card. I now refuse to pay for anything unless its a credit card transaction or Cod or from someone I know and trust. If someoen pays me by paypal I wont pay the charges for obvious reasons. I also make sure I always take out the family legal protection cover on my home insurance. It covers you up to £50k of legal expenses cover for most day to day issues from work related disputes to legal issues with your neighbours. I have used this cover once with a work related dispute to the tune of £50k well worth it in the end.
  15. As well as that, check your home insurance policy, if you have family legal protection then start a legal process through that.
  16. Go down to your local police station armed with the info and open a case against him asap.
  17. Give Boyndie a go its fairly close to you and a good wee circuit. You might be surprised how much fun 90 odd secs can be.
  18. The logistics i.e hotels and fuel is what I was getting at when I said I understood the expense of two cars in T/A the extra costs of wear and tear and consumables is also considerable in T/A. The expense for Scottish events would be less as some venues could be done without the need for hotels and the others the distances are less so petrol costs would be significantly less. That said the seat time issue for hills and sprints does put a lot of people off and I would say that Fee's car is definately not suited to those events but yours prob is. I would estimate that a full season of hills and sprints (29 events) would see around 155 mins of seat time as opposed to 7 time attack events giving around 490 mins so approx 1/3 of the seat time.
  19. No the Scottish Championship Entry fee is £20 and the Lowlands is £10. You then pay the entry fee which is £75 ish per day. The only other admin cost is your MSA licence fee.
  20. Value for money doesnt really come into motorsports does it? Your saying T/A is becoming to expensive for a two car entry which is understandable yet you have a cheapish form of motorsport on your doorstep that will cost you £75 per day. If its purely value for money that you are after then track days will give you the most seat time per pound or tarmac stage rallies.
