  1. Ok don't know about the hawkeye but the bug and blob eye WRX have CATS and the STI's don't. Seems strange that they have removed the cat from the Hawkeye WRX as the trend these days is towards cars with lower emissions. Or perhaps that is why you Hawkeye guys are payin more for road tax
  2. The new age WRX definately has a CAT in the up-pipe (mine doesn't now ) but the STI is CAT free. I fitted a good condition STI up pipe to my WRX and it works a treat. You can pick up the STI CAT free up pipes for next to nothing and it will work as well as expensive after market ones unless you are interested in porting the pipes to match each other and then match the turbo/head flanges. Once you get to that stage you are getting serious anyway. There are also issues with some after market uppipes having too large a diameter which can affect spool up times on some set ups as the volume of the gas increases reducing gas flow velocity, effectively acts as a divergent duct. Just the info I have picked up from some people with much more knowledge than me.
  3. I would go further, right arm above the elbow and left leg above the knee try using crutches now
  4. Why change the uppipe your car has a perfectly good cat free item fitted
  5. I was also quoted just over £200 for a 20,000 mile service and that was at Ian Grieve's So will see what it costs when it goes in. Arch
  6. Aye it is, lol, how did you know? It was a bit o a random choice like, normally take photos elsewhere! [] My parents had a caravan and we used to go up there in the summer holidays for some strange reason. Glasgow to Findochty was never a fun journey pulling a caravan. Had plenty of good summers up there, not bad memory since its over 25 years since i was up there [] First time I was ever called a loon, thought the lady in the shop was taking the pi** so walked out the shop ina huff.[:$] Well I was only 11 ish.
  7. Pete are your seats the plain black weave effect trim. If so I would be interested in a repair also as i bought my car with a really poor repair carried out on an area about the size of a 50p. It bugs me everytime I look at it so if you get any joy could you PM me some details. Cheers
  8. Where were your pics taken, if my memory serves me right is that Findochty caravan site?
  9. Boris thanks appreciate the info [Y]
  10. Boris how do they attach, is it U brackets and what was the sellers name. cheers Arch
  11. Nice one you can't beat a bit of protectionism []
  12. Try Privilege for your insurance quote they were the cheapest for me, but they do want a tracker.
  13. I take it this is a classic which i dont know much about but on the new age you use a 2.2K resistor either plugged into the car side of the plug recepticle or cut the sensor off, solder the 2.2K resistor onto the wires and plug back in - sorted? I assume the cat on fire system on the classic will work exactly the same, resistor will cost about 10p from maplins.
  14. Just emptied enough gravel for a water feature out of my undertray after a bit of a spin at clarks, sounded really bad when it was being pulled out but just had the car on the ramps and all looking sweet. Polished out one scratch so survived unscathed, apart from under wear obviously. Sorry I didnt get to meet many people this morning didnt really know who anyone was and I was down the bottom end most of the morning. Good fun though except for the spin. Big thanks to John S for organising the event [Y]
  15. At least you didnt get any pics of me buried up to the axle in the gravel at Clarks after a spin [:$]
  16. John Did you not get any of John St on saturday sitting stopped reading the paper waiting for the EVo's to catch up. []
  17. Gus as with most things you get what you pay for. You can get top quality heat products from here http://www.ekmpowershop4.com/ekmps/shops/pipewerx/index.asp > this is on a scoobynet group buy and you get 30% off the prices. [Y]
  18. Yes mate probably was me. Turbo is massive it was a garret but didnt see which one. The guy is trying to build the fastest Golf in the UK/Scotland. Exhaust all sorted now and fits properly thanks to some TLC with the tig welder.
  19. Nipped down to meercat on Thurs to have some TLC caried out on my exhaust. Big thanks to Scott and Willie for some great help with the problem I had. Standard of work produced by these guys is outstanding. They are genuinely interested in the cars they work on and I would recommend a trip down to anyone looking for some exhaust work. In a lot of cases its actually cheaper to get these guys to produce you an item tailored to your car than it is to buy an off the shelf item which may not be a good fit. [Y]
  20. I have always had excellent service from Ian Greaves, but my car is still under warranty. They are genuinely helpful and I cant fault them. [Y] Should the service not be due at 39628miles or 16/10/07 i.e 10,000 miles or 12 months?
  21. John As per email, thanks again and really appreciate the help. Hope to meet up at Knockhill if not before [Y]
  22. Check ur house insurance, you will be amazed how many people have family legal protection on their policy which covers exactly this situation. Check that first, have major case at work at the minute which is heading to the high court all covered by house insurance [Y]
