That surface does not look good. There are rumours that there may be a round of the Scottish Sprint Championship there next year dont think my tyres would last 5 mins there and cant see the guys with the single seaters being impressed with the potential destruction of their slicks Some cracking in car footage tho
-
Not much more to report at this stage, its now a process of working out how far I can push the car forward for next year as well as sourcing the parts I need to achieve this. I have managed to source some already so may start stripping some parts off and fitting some others back in

If you have just had a box from a 96 delivered it will be a TY752.... this is know where near as strong as your 754 box.
-
Ah your pampered Jase try doing it in a cold single garage in the middle of winter Coming on really quickly though whats your plans for it road and track use or just a track toy
-
I take it the air filter will be shrouded in some way to stop water soaking it and restricting its ability to pass air

The third smaller diameter hard pipe is for a fuel tank breather emissions thing pretty sure even with the standard tank its not required but I ahve removed my tank so mine is def not required. As peter pointed out you can use two feeds to the FPR but it uses more fuel hose and more weight for no benefit in my opinion. cheers Archie

Jase i only have the 4 bolts on my block this is not a problem. You will have the two long studs at the bottom, and the bolt at the top drivers side and one long bolt at the starter which will all line up. I do remeber having to tap the gearbox casing for one of the starter bolts but i am sure I had 4 block to gearbox fixings. I had to do this when I changed from a 752 gear case to a 754 box as the two casings are different it wasnt an issue with the 2.0Lt or 2.5Lt block. I assume you have changed to a 6 speed or 754 box?

As richie says give Alyn at AS Performance a ring he can advise you on the best combination for your needs and his prices are about as cheap as you will get. I got some Endless racing pads for my road blobeye WRX on Alyn's recommendation as he said they performed as well as Ferrodo DS2500 but had a longer life span and I have to be honest I am impressed I think they are better than the DS2500's I had on the RA when I had 4 pots on. They were also cheaper http://www.asperformance.com/contact.htm

Pity John it was a good weekend with a few close battles going on for various classes and the overall sprint championship. Would have been good to have a chat. A3 was interesting with Davie Coutts going really well along with Jim Gray, all in all a good few days.

That was me Rich. It was a nightmare in there took nearly 30 mins to get petrol came out ragin I take it you never made it up John didnt see you on the Sun?

If you stand still you fall behind Its an exedy twin plate.

Last weekend was the long trip up to Banff for the Boyndie sprint. This was the second trip north in as many weeks but it was the east coast this time but the weather was kind once again with Saturday being warm and sunny and Sunday dry but not just as warm but still very pleasant for this time of year. The saturday started off with an interesting first practice came of the line and up the main straight car feeling good and pulling well, eased off and braked very early for the first corner, had a little nibble at the kerb and when i turned in wow 270 deg spin there was just no grip at all well at least i wasnt the only one as a few others obviously didnt take note and done exactly the same . As the track heated up and the surface cleaned up the grip came back. The sat timed runs all went well. I went out and done a time of 68.3 in the first timed run and was sat nicely in 2nd behind Davie Coutts in his EVO on 67.8 and Jim Gray in his Evo on 68.5. I was confident of getting into the 67's on the 2nd timed run when it was pointed out to me that a decent score on Sat and Sun would see me win Class A3 in the Scottish Championship then the game plan changed as I had to score on Sun. I decided to take it easy on the 2nd run and have a look at lines etc for the Sun and just make sure i didnt break anything. After the 2nd timed runs I was pushed down into 3rd behind Jim and Davie which was fine as I had taken 28.23 points from the sat and that was more important. The Sun morning practice runs were a good opportunity to play around a bit with some of the corners and try cutting various corners to see the effect on the car and on the lines. This proved to be very useful as I went out in the first timed run and done a 67.38 sec run which is 1.2 secs off the class record and significantly faster than last year. More importantly this gave me a healthy 29.15 points and the class win on the day and overall class win in the Scottish Championship - result Well that was my last event of the year so time now to take stock and try and plan for next year. With all the changes to the class requirements for next year it will be a case of putting weight on rather than taking weight off which just doesnt seem right I now have the basis of a car that can compete. First new part for next year arrived on Fri

Think the gauntlet is well and truely thrown down, congratulations Andy well deserved

Jase there are some engine pics in my project thread and you can see some white clips guiding the fuel hose in the direction required, there is one obvious one right above the alternator. They are basically rubber covered metal clips in the shape of a P that guide cables , pipes etc. This sort of thing http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/35mm-RUBBER-LINED-ME...id=p3286.c0.m14 You can get plastic ones but they are prone to snapping. You need to measure the diameter of your hose and buy the clips accordingly. Ref the fuel line lengths, at 3 or 4 bar fuel pressure a little difference in length will make no difference to your fuel delivery but its probably best practice to keep the hoses between the rails as close to equal as possible, from the feed to the rail and back to the regulator is purely down to your choice of route
-
Jase I fed from the fuel feed to my first T-piece then to cylinders 1 and 3 first. Out of 2 and 4 to 2nd t-piece and then to FPR and then back to return. As for pipe lengths I made mine so my t-pieces were pretty central in the manifold with enough length to allow me to p-clip them up off the block to the underside of the manifold to try and avoid any uneccesary heat transfer. Other than that it's pretty much put it where it best routes. I would suggest using proper p-clips to route the pipes to avoid any chafing issues

Jase glad you got hold of him

Shell Helix is not a true fully synthetic oil. Try using http://www.millersoils.net/1_Millers_frame_MOTORSPORT.htm depending on budget and car usage http://www.motul-oil.co.uk/pdfs/300v-engin...40_TDS_(GB).pdf http://www.motul-oil.co.uk/products-300v-engine-oil.php I get mine from Alyn at AS Performance. The motul is prob overkill for a road car though.

Scott the perrin rails are superb but think they are only for top feed i.e new age, they wouldnt fit Jase's car. Martin turned mine round immediately as he had some stock, I also sold him some phase 1 and phase 1.5 standard rails so he could do a batch and have some on exchange. I think your rails will be phase 2. The fuel rails on ebay, or similar, were being sold by slowboy racing over on scoobynet, I dont have any experience of them thats why I stayed with the standard rails converted, at least I knew they worked without any issues. When it comes to connecting to the lines back to the tank and the feed then its just a push fit with jubilee clip as normal but these pipes have proper flared ends so you will have no issues there. Would it be worth going over to an after market filter such as a Sytec with replaceable filter? This is what I have and the paper filters are only £2. There are some pics of my filter on my project thread. oops just another point, I had mentioned on another thread about 20G fitting. I had to file a bit of the actuator bracket on the 20G as it fouled on the 90 deg union at no.3 cylinder. It wasnt much and doesnt affect the actuator bracket but just for info.

You should have come down to Kames in Aug not far from you

Thanks Jim, totally agree about Donald's car it has been progressed over a number of years pretty much the same as John's so is a class above me at the minute. The 20G does work very well but the car needs more power to be competative so thats the next step Having said that it still amazes me how well this car handles it just sticks no matter how hard you chuck it around

Just a quick update after the weekend sprint at Golspie. Turned out to be a cracking weekend with the weather holding out and staying dry and warm all weekend. This resulted in a really good 2 days racing. There was a disapointing turn out in A3 with Only Donald in his Evo, Ian MacKay in his Clio and myself. Never the less it was more about progress and a chance to see how the car ran as compared to last year. The Saturday was the Littleferry circuit and this finished with Donald breaking the class record with a 100.43 run which was pretty impressive. i finished on a 104.23 so under 4 secs behind which is pretty good on the day. This is compared to 118.02 secs last September so a more than fair improvement there although from memory i think last years time may have been in the wet And one of Donald's Evo in action. The Sunday was the Kylestrome circuit which is more challenging but to be honest more fun. Again Donald was quickest in class with his fastest run of 74.62 which narrowly missed breaking the record he set in June. I managed a 77.32 which again was only 2.7 secs off Donald's time so not to bad. But when compared to my time last year of 79.86 shows an improvement of over 5 secs so again a sizeable step forward. I managed to get some in car footage from Sat but the sound didnt work out but will try and hoste it later. Well this weekend it's off up north again to Boyndie which again is a kart cct but a lt of fun. I havnt seen the finals yet so not sure exactly who is in A3 but confident it will be a large entry.

Drop mef a PM on scoobynet he converts them on an exchange basis. Think its £70 and they come back anodised as well, he does a cracking job. The black ones in the pic above are not from mef (Martin) but the phase1.5 silver ones on the manifold are. You can get your braided hose and fittings from here on ebay. http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/autofittings__W0QQ_armrsZ1 I changed some of my braided hose that I got from Pirtek for hose I got from autofittings and the hose from autofittings was far superior quality and significantly cheaper. I have also used his unions and they are very good quality.

Jase to be honest you need a set of rails that are modded with preferably AN -6 fittings like the ones pictured below. They are phase 1 but lets you see what you need. A couple of pics of my old phase 1.5 manifold with the mod done Hope this helps

Steve not sure if any of these are any good to you. http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=137635 cheers
