Its just that I read a few things about retrofitting a later TMIC (including carls site) and it involved so much more than I was capable of, not being a welder I'd love to be able to do this stuff myself, but wouldnae risk it, having absolutely no experience with engines. any of you guys running a night class? So do I have a phase 1.5 or a phase 2 engine then? its a 99 wrx.

Anyone Know Who Supplies These Decals
ScoobySounds replied to mctwistuk's topic in Scottish Scoobies
do you think they do yellow/grey? -
in addition neil, if you aren't into the big power and just want a fun car, that sounds just like me, and I'm more than happy with mine now. Just look into the level1 stuff, ie decat, fuel pump, hoses, remap.. and then work on the brakes and handling. stop.

I currently have my scoob running at a good level1, about 315 or so and its a stunning drive, very resposnive, and I really enjoy it. Then I starterd looking and reading accounts on the next stage (level2), I don't think its for me. (Of course, I'm not saying its not for you!) I'm only learning about this, but my conclusions were thus; Firstly - fitting, say, an sti7 tmic to a classic is a total of a job. and if I were to uprate the top mount and get 550cc injectors, then i'd need to fit an uprated fuel pressure regulator, and a bigger turbo to make use of it all. Once i've done that, then it would be pointless without uprated headers and up pipe. all this FOR STARTERS! then you are starting to put excessive strain on the engine internals and have to start thinking about THAT... i stopped there and decided that I was happy the way it is. I thought spending all that money, and risking making the car LESS drivable is silly, and there's not enough road for more power anyway.. I'm just gona chill and enjoy the car, maybe go on holiday with the savings. Chris.

Anyone Know Who Supplies These Decals

I saw that car at the gathering and thought the decals were class.. my favourite I think. -
you are mad ! in a good way! seriously though man i've seen your motor a few times at steves, its totally pristine and i personally can't wait to see it on the track. what shape of resulta are you 'after'?
-
yeah thats what I do too .. my understanding of it is that its better to do a calm drive than using a turbo timer, because you're getting cooler air into the engine, rather than just leaving it ticking over.

That sounds like a pretty good idea. I've done one trackday in the scoob ... previous experience was one of those 5 laps in 5 cars days (not enough time in one car to get the hang of things) and about 10 or so trackdays paxing in my dads motor when I was car growing up - so already had a bit of knowledge about the track layout. and when I went with the scoob I got an instructer, who was good, but was pushing me to drive much harder than I wanted to for my first time, no compromise. he was very loud when shouting the instruction, so it was very exciting:) I just wasn't expecting it can't wait for my next trackday, I think taking it more easy and learning by following other cars will be the key next time. is this 25 own car package on an empty track? how much is it?
-
haha, nice one! I see they've put on nitrous and removed the brakes, to make it scary when your driving it too! not really but that would make it a proper halloween car!

trying to get a look at the gobstopper proved difficult ..but worth it, WOW! VBH quite the crowd puller saw this bus on the way home - wouldn't be my first choice for a company name. I downloaded some free merging software to do an animation with these pics, can anyone take away the backgrounds for me?
-
yey 4hero, wondered when you'd chime in here with your legendary skills! i'm gonna have a play around with this one later when I gets the chance. I can't see the difference between them though

I did try photoshopping the racing stripes yesterday, but it was a bit more complicatred than the wee straight ones so I gave up.. but anyway I think it might be a bit overkill for my first graphics... maybe next time if I like these! I very might take you up on that gus! not quite sure yet how the stripes should be yet, but I will def give you a shout if thats ok! I showed some non-car friends the pic in the pub last night and one said it looked like double yellow lines had been painted up the side of my car - and I know what he's sayin .. and another said it was neddy , so i didn't speak to him again. i'll prob have two uneven lines, or a fade type effect at one end. U think he could do these designs? nice shop! its cool but creepy looking! are you gonna go for it?
-
cheers, yeah the wheels are eventually going to be powder coated in cool grey or graphite.. not sure yet. very low on priority list at the moment due to getting whiteline stuff / new tyres and hose kits being done next week. 7uck the credit crunch!
-
funny that eh? i hadn't thought of sticking stuff on until the gathering either!! are you going to go through with that list? sounds mint. not sure about black roof boot and spoiler though. could look a little retrofit-tastic. try it on photoshop and post pics!!
-
lol. i actually prob won't tint the windaes at all, but looks better for the pictures!
-
hehe, nice one! not sure about it going all the way round the bumper, not as subtle as i'd like for my first entry into decal-ing. but i do like the idea of a black shadow or a black border surrounding the yellow!
-
I decided to try and teach myself some photoshop this weekend so used some pics of the car to practice with, and now i've been bitten with some kind of yellow bug that I can't shift. I was always quite anti-sticker, .. liked them on other cars but wouldn't have them on mine kind of thing, but I think i'm going to go through with this! what do you reckon? I put sripes on, tail badge, darkened windows, darkened wheels. I couldn't work out how to lower it though. looks like it sitting very high in the 2nd pic, i'm sure its not that bad up close!
-
yey, spotted on 5th gear! makes up for not seeing me anywhere on youtube or peoples pics! was a really nice peice on 5th gear, they put a lot more into it than I thought they would.. and it was obvious that it actually meant something to Viki too. was very nice.

haa, yeah - i'd expect I too should find it difficult to keep under two tanks! For the journey back I was even considering using 95ron so that i'd HAVE to stay off boost! of course, this is a ridiculous thing to think. £2 !?*!# is that true!? thats 145 miles nice going and encouraging.. how thirsty is your scoob usually? this bit wasn't that fast though more like hold-on-to-something twisty ninja driving
