  1. Imy, We will be having a collection on the day, but if anyone wants to make a donation, please make then to the Scottish Spina Bifida Association, who helped Dougie have many a great holiday up in Carnoustie. Thanks Derek
  2. Would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind words and offers of help!! A few people have asked me for an address for cards: Mr & Mrs J Fairgrieve, 40 Carlops Crescent, Penicuik, Midlothian Eh26 0DN. I’m sure Dougie will be looking down laughing at the various comments posted and many others that people remember. Yeah he didn’t have the easiest life and at times he could be a pain in the ar5e – but he was a fantastic son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and not a bad lad in general. He will be sorely missed here and by many people – especially my kids who just adored him. RIP Dougie Derek PS He would make a fantastic co-pilot for Colin, just be gentle with the breaking.
  3. Scott, I and Dougie would be delighted if you would drive mine on the day – I know it’s only an old classic, but we love it!! No pressure to do this at all, but if you want to be in a Scooby, I would be be honoured if you drove mine. Derek
  4. Sorry to be so blunt, but my little brother passed away at 11.50 this morning. A huge thank you to all of you for the kind words! He loved all things Subaru (I have the bills to prove it) and although unable to drive one was always a very keen passenger (even with Crazy Horse). He made many great friends and i’m sure he would be the first to say thanks for the way he was welcomed into the SIDC fold!! The funeral is planned for Saturday at 9.30 at the large Chapel at Mortonhall Crematorium. I, and I know Dougie would love to see as many Scoobies as possible. Thanks again Derek
  5. Just to let everyone know that my brother DougieC was taken into Hospital yesterday. He took ill on Saturday with an ear infection and with his other ailments things got worse on Sunday morning. He was first taken into Edinburgh ERI before being taken over to the Western under full Blues and Twos – i’m sure he would have loved this if he had known what was going on. At the Western they carried out various tests, filled him with antibiotics, fluids, sedatives and tried desperately to get his temperature down. We left him last night at about midnight once he had settled down and became more stable – but under full sedation. Today we were called in to meet with the Consultant and Doctors. Overnight the pressure had built up in his head – which they thought was due to a shunt he has had in his head for the last 20 years. They had tried to release the pressure on the ward, but were going to have to take him to theatre. The outcome of this was the pressure was a build up from the ear infection and his brain was swollen. Next steps are to take him off the sedation to see what brain function exists as there seems to be damage to the brain stem. We are letting the doctors do what they have to do and we are all home keeping out their way. Heading in tomorrow morning early and will let you know more when I do. This has to be the worst day of my life!!! Derek

  10. Just went for the 2.0ltr rebuild in the end due to funds, or the lack of them, more to the point. The car has an uprated fuel pump, 3" ScoobySport exhaust and Meercat backbox, STi 6 speed box and clutch and now with some of the AndyF knowledge inside. Happy days!! Derek
  11. Can’t recommend it enough Gary, the difference is unbelievable, everything is now silky smooth through the full rev range! Good luck finding Andy’s garage, it’s right at the harbour and there is no name on the garage, and as I found out there’s 2 harbours! Find the Bene’s Fish and Chips and your nearly there. He did say he wasn’t too busy in January. Thanks for all comments, Derek
  12. Went to see AndyF this afternoon so he could work his magic on the RB5. Car has just had the bottom end rebuilt so wanted to make sure the car was running as sweet as could be – don’t fancy that expense again! All went really well, with no major problems, except trying to pay by card. I’ve attached the dyno Andy supplied which I am delighted with. Certainly a starting point to go on from. 276 bhp and 309 lb/ft torque. Thanks again AndyF Derek
  13. No got sent the link via email in the office. Now i’ve watched it too many times!! Derek

  17. WOW! Absolutely stunning – car and driving! Only spoiled by strange wee goatee – once you see it you’ll think the same!! Derek
  18. Car looks fantastic and well looked after – only thing that spoils it is the weights on the outside edge of the wheels. I’d get them rebalanced and put on the inside. Derek
