  4. Where to begin with this eh?.... Well the Saturday run round Resistance Fall of Man on the PS3 and driving 5 tonne trucks round Knockhill were definate up sides to the afternoon. Other than that well.... The evenings camping was a great laugh and it was nice to spend some time with other subaru owners and know that we didn't just have a 30 / 60 minute break to chat. Instead a random BBQ (well random if you were me and squirrel as we were thinking Burger King) happened and some good grub was had by all. Then off to a slightly warmer climate... The Pub. Drink was had, stories were told and the locals provided some entertainment (how do you mute an accordion and a fiddle btw? Answers on a postcard to Abington Hotel.) Later on it was back to the tents suitably knackered for some sleep before the big day ahead. Or I did anyway. Apparently my snoring kept the camp-site awake all night. Sorry about that everyone!! Sunday morning for us started with the packing up of the tents which I thought we all did rather well at for 7:30am and then on our way to the run. Stage 1 - The run its-self was great. I started in the Spirited group and after making my front pads smoke more than the previous nights BBQ I pulled in and waited for a bit for the medium group to go past and went with them. Still I would have preferred my pads more of a medium / well done rather than the charred smoking remains they are now. The weather did hold out pretty well however due to some technical difficulties half way through stage one leaving us the one group leader Imy lead the way for us all and did very well. Stage 2 - This went a bit more to plan with there being 2 groups and some good fun was had here. Must be nice to be a passenger for this stretch as the scenery is something else around there. A few sheep were scared although most just didn't care we were there. Stage 3 - This was my Favourite. Not long after passing the squirrel vision post I got separated from the guys in front of me. This resulted in some cars behind me thinking I knew where I was going and I didn't have a clue. To that end we almost all went the wrong way until I saw the markers and put the breaks on (cue the second cooking of the day for them) A quick U-turn later and all was good. Unfortunately due to phone calls completely beyond one man's control (they called Imy instead as he wouldn't pick up) Sc00bar00 had to detour back to Cyp-Rocks car which left us with no leader who knew the way for the faster of the two groups left. Somehow I got roped into leading and that's an experience. When you don't know the roads and your in a convoy, you can at least use the car in front to help judge what's happening by how its moving and the brake lights etc... When you out front its a whole other ball game Trying to read some of those breaking points yourself especially on blind summits when the last time you drove the road was September 2006 was quite twitchy at times.. and the weather just held out for us It is almost like a tradition now that when I go on an organised day something has to go wrong on my car. Only 5 weeks after getting my front windscreen replaced on the car after a stone chip on the way to Crail I've got another nice chip in it today. Hoping this one can just get a resin repair done as it isn't to big. Even though his is the 5th time since I started driving 4 years ago that I've had a stone hit the windscreen I still sh!t myself every time. Over all it was a fantastic weekend (the final fest at Peters was just the kind of finish it needed) and a big thanks to Imy and Grant for the hard work. Its well appreciated.[] Roll on the next event!!! WOOO!!!

  6. Sounds good to me Imy. A few of us met there before going to Crail once at 8am and it was open and serving on a Sunday. That was only a couple of months ago so unless they have changed there hours we should be ok.

  10. yes, however you seem to take great delite in the when it breaks it upgrade it method... most poeple normally refer to there stock parts but your breaking and upgrading after market now lol also it just sounds expensive.. ouch.

  13. Sorry Terzo that would be a no... It just takes to damn long! lol [:S] During the straightening (and re-moulding the downright ridiculous in some cases) I noticed that in some of the more damaged places the second layer of fins was also damaged. For the most part I tried to make sure that even the second layer were also corrected and that all fins lined up. As for just removing the top layer... never crossed my mind. Would have been a lot simple but wouldn't that reduce the cooling ability?
  14. Removing it would have been a lot easier but as the car is my daily driver and I was only doing an hour here and there on it working on it while in the car was simpler. Taking it out and back in every time i needed to drive would have been worse. Tempted to take it off once though to inspect the state of the fins underneath it and see if I can do anything with those.... yes you are allowed to call me sad lol
  15. Just thought I would share this with you all. I can't afford to upgrade the TMIC to anything so best make do with what I have and unfortunatly what I have is a disaster area. Don't think any of the previous owners had ever bothered to look after it properly. Click the pics for larger versions. Trying to keep the post forum friendly. Here is the TMIC from when I bought the car last september and up untill a few weeks ago when I took this photo. A disaster area I think you'll agree. So I decided to do something about it... Ingrediants: A toothpick, A needle Patience (lots and lots of) Cramp (more of a side effect of doing this while it was still in the car but its my daily car) A few weeks later I ended up with the following results after doing the last row of fins this morning. Point of this? None really. I doubt this will have any noticable effect on the performance of the car but it looks a lot better. It was more one of those because I wanted to do it things. If you clicky and see the larger before and afters you can see just how badley damaged some of the fins were and most will never sit staight again but thats as good as I can get them for now. Granted it may have taken me about 6-8 hours total but hey it was never something that could be done quick. At least a quick check every now and then should keep it better. And now to go to work.... the joys of backshift this week. Ian

  17. 101.9 in Kilmarnok as well today. Bit that annoys me is they don't put the price of V-power on the big signs. Would be easier to see if its worth filling up at that shell (not that I get much of a choice down in Killie)

  21. Ralf in a v10? he'd be to scared. I've no idea what that could be. maybe the v10 from a bmw 5 series? or a bit more sepcial like a Gallardo or Carrera GT? Either way what you actually going to do with it

  23. Got the call this morning which I was rather impressed about. They have ordered the part in and are going to replace it under warranty which is nice. Booked in next Thursday so just need to use the car as little as possible till then. Is directly after a MAF replacement a good time to replace the stock air filter for an after market one?
  24. filled up two days ago. the wrong side of £50 for a tank of petrol is extracting the urine a bit much.
