  1. Wish I had known your budget was tight would have bid higher :D

lo not bought it yet arch, may sell or split

Sacriledge! Gone over to the "Dark Side!"

power to weight wins im afraid mate

Thats soooooo gutting to see your car like that mate, i had my fuel pipe feeding my fuel rail spraying fuel out before.....smelt petrol and stopped to check it out, found down by the turbo the pipe had perished away (maybe due to methanol)!! so i was well lucky!! after that i got myself a fire extinguisher but dont know if that would do any good after seeing the picks you put up!!!!

Anyway mate hope things get better for u!!!!!

    Jase

aye fires a dangerous thing mate, just got to keep moving forwards

  2. Looking in to my crystal ball... I see a classic with a 2.5ltr and a 6 speed box...

    mon the newages :)

if the deal goes through then yes i'll be taking the only 2 good things to come from a newage and putting them in a classic :P

Very acheivable with that budget Jim, good approach Bud !!

john my car budget is only 7k so it will be tight to say the least but i'm always up for a challenge,no labour charge always makes a big difference as you know :D

  3. just read this post, gutted for you mate...

cant believe the time the insurance company are with...are you with Highway through Keith Michaels??had heard they were meant to be pretty good with modified cars or is this not really the case??I see 1 of the comments says KM are using another insurer now, any idea who it is??insurance due for renewal soon...

good luck with whatever new project you decide to go with.....

    scott

keith michaels are now using qbe as well as highway for modified policies.mines is with qbe,was insured with highway when i wrote off my last car and took just as long to get a settlement.9 weeks i'm sure it was from time of incident to

paying out but this just seems to be the case with all insurers.

as far as a car like yours or peters for that matter the money spent on mods will never be seen again unfortunately,no matter what its insured for you still have to prove a worth in the real world i.e point them in the direction of a similar modded car at that time of negotiation.

on a more positive note i got an offer today of 12k which is what the car was insured for so can't really complain,i should have valued it higher but wouldn't have necessarily meant i would have got any more.

just need to draw a line under it and move on

    mon the classics lol

  4. Going to change mine tomorrow night, now I have been told its not as simple as just dropping the old and filling up with new.

Do you need to remove one of the sensors (coil pack?) and crank the engine? Whats the purpose of this anyway?

    Cheers all, Ryan.

the crank sensor should be removed(under the alternator)and engine turned over until

oil light goes out.i do this when changing oil but your local subaru dealer in general won't

  5. no worries graeme,my search has narrowed slightly as i've bought a 6 speed box and 06 jdm block for the next

project so now on the lookout for something with a goosed engine

that oor jim always planning ahead :)

can't wait for the engine and gearbox pictures sitting in your dining room

lol its looking too empty at the moment, still got a few bit and pieces though from the last escapade.just

a pity its newage stuff, need to have a clear out :o

Think outside the box chaps. Justy with that engine would be the daddy.

sorry stephen not for me,mkII escort with that engine/box would be good though B)

  6. My mate had a honda type r powered lotus elise that was his road car but he also raced on the lotus on track series. He had an agreed value policy because fitting the engine to the car had cost so much and added value to the car, he wanted to make sure he would at least get his cash back if the worst happened. He paid slightly higher premiums for the policy though.

unfortunately most insurance companies are not keen on fixed values nowadays due to money laundering/fraud

Good to hear your still keeping yer chin up Jim,

At least there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel, its just a shame its taken soooo long as you have missed out on a few cracking cars whilst you have been waiting for your cash.

Will give you a shout in a few days once we are back in UK waters

All the best and hope you get sorted soon.

    Graeme

  7. Thats shocking mate!

It just shows that although we think we are all getting a great deal with some of these companies, you don't know what they are like until you try to claim.

Hopefully you get it sorted out soon.

too true paul, all investigations have now been done but file has been lying on an

insurance managers desk now for a week waiting on the go ahead to make an offer :o

  8. Jim sorry iv not posted sooner but i just found out about this tonite! P!sh news mate i realy liked that car, i am truly gutted for you and the car. Hats of to you in the way you have handled the whole situation B) .

Goodluck with getting the formality's sorted :)

    cheers john

    quick update ehh...still waiting :o

  9. cheers jamie, thats been for sale for a few weeks now lol

kit looks similar to l'aunsport which would have cost a few £ in japan when fitted, bonnet looks

different colour too or maybe just the light?

keeping a look out everywhere, couple of nice v5/6 ra's for sale at the moment too.

  10. Was it dick turpin (infamous HIGHWAYman) insurance again Jim?

no mate km have started using another company for modified cars now

    as well as above mentioned.

contacting the fire brigade is standard procedure if cause of fire is unknown, its the time taken

    thats p***in me off

  11. Erm, was it Mr Magoo they sent out with Stevie Wonder giving a second opinion

looks like it mate, better than that is the fact that the next step was to write to the fire brigade to see if they could tell them how the fire started.apparantly they are pretty good at diagnosing the cause of car fires when they turn up after 40 mins :rotfl:

  12. Really sorry to see the car go like that Jim, it was really really well done. Had a fire quite a few years ago, so know what it's like to watch a couple of years work go in minutes!!!

Hope you pick up something nice to replace it

    All the Best

    Mike

cheers mike,42 days after notifying insurance and still no joy ;)

took the assesor 28 days to notify insurance that he couldn't determine cause of fire :rotfl:

  13. I've had a silver WRX stolen from my premises in Cardrona, just outside Peebles in the Scottish Borders. The car was completely standard, even down to the original wheels and exhaust, and had the registration number N898 ALS.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
