  1. Welcome mate. Very nice car. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
  2. I always wondered about those lines and dots, so it's good to get some info - ta Cheers BigDavie. Glad u like the spanky look. I think your suggestion is a good one & cheap is good! I'll get the wire brush and some caliper paint (Do halfords sell that in black?) I'll need to find my tub of copper grease to put a thin layer on the mating surface between wheel and disc, as it's lost somewhere in the abyss of my garage.
  3. It sounds like the car is absolutely amazing. WD mate
  4. Any ideas at which tyre pressure the Toyo's on 18" rims should be? It's for a wagon.....
  5. 22b - I had 16's before, so they were pretty forgiving. I'm slowly getting used to them. There is a lot of grip there, and it is pretty progressive in the dry. I'll try a power drill or angle grinder with a light polishing/abrasive fitting to take off the surface rust on the non-friction surfaces of the discs. I just don't want that redish/brown rust showing on the rear discs as it totally spoils the look of those lovely wheels.
  6. Superb looking wagon mate.... Very tidy.
  7. Four Wheel alignment done two weeks ago at Hypertech. So no problems there! I wasn't planning on painting the friction surface of the discs... lol. The bit that I want to tidy up is a bit rusty is near the wheel contact, parrallel with the ground. I'll post a picture later.
  8. 1- Splashed out on new 18's with toyo T1R Proxes. I don't know if I'm driving it differently or a little faster, but it seems a little bit more "twitchy" in handling now (more grip at front and the back end has been out a couple of times). Any ideas anyone? 2- Also the tyres are directional - so I made sure left went on left according to the tyre marking. I got confused about the yellow and red lines/marks on new tyres, as I thought you were meant to have both sides red outside or inside (eg matched pairs). Anyone got some pics or info on this and to make sure I got the tyres in the right direction of rotation? 3- Also I found this bit on the ground after I changed the wheels and tyres, I'm not sure if it's a scooby part or if it is a bit off the jack I used. Any ideas Grant? :- 4- Also, my discs have a little bit of surface rust on the non friction parts. What can I clean them up and paint them with? (I'll probably give the callipers a cleanup too)
  9. No probs here on the North side.
  10. I was up in Crail last week on hols. I was Sunday drving my Mrs Zafira family motor, overtaking on the wrong side of the road on a blindish bend - as you do... Then saw this red flash coming head-on and just missed it. I think it was an Enzo. Nice[H] Went to the Crail thrash as I was in the area. Highlight of the day was one of those kiddies mini motorbikes on the 1/4mile. Here's a few pics below. I'd love to go up with my wagon in a few weeks time Seem familiar above?
  11. I actually cleaned the car and forgot I'd taken pics to prove I'd cleaned it! [:$] There aren't enough pics of wagons on here anyways... Here are the most recent pics b4 and after lowering and pretty much new suspension... errrr.... I think the darker pic is the more recent one and it doesn't look any difference. I guess the suspension was really shot as now it handles really well[] Saving my pennies for those 18's and new rubber....
  12. Agree with the rattles to some extent. Most of mine went away when I got the rear boot latch changed under warranty. There is a list of known issues on the forums at www.mini2.com I didn't experience any of problems 2-7 with either of my CooperS's. I guess I was lucky. Agree with 8 and 9. Runflats are expensive and not that much grip and harsh ride (Although with the run flats BMW did fix 2 punctures FOC). Please note Harry Fairburn (previously good reputation) has apparently been bought by Arnold Clark..... I'm a traditional mini fan too. I see them as different target audiences but both are serious fun. I've had mini's since I was 17 (including an all steel swiftune race spec engine 1380cc that put out 120bhp at the wheels). I still have one of the last production carb coopers.
  13. I've had two CooperS since they came out. Great to drive like a go kart, good to service £100 i think for 5 years free servicing (I think you can get 10 years now for extra £). Fuel wise driven hard it's not much better than a scoob. 05 facelift models drive better with LSD as standard. Used to be rarer so retention value is not quite as good as it used to be - but still very good. Doesn't have space for most prams or kiddies car seats. Buy private as they nearly all will have FSH and waranties etc. pm me if you want specific advice.
  14. I just picked up my car today from Duncan @ Hypertech in Bonnybridge. What an amazing difference in handling after they worked their wonders! The car feels so much more surefooted, tighter more responsive handling, less body roll, nice and predictable. It's now sooo much fun through the twisty bits. They are really friendly and give good advice, do the job properly including 4wheel geometry setup. I can only recommend them as I haven't dealt with anyone else in the handling department, and will only be using them after good experience.
  15. P3 powered by Intel.... And the newer P4 also powered by Intel. Sorry - I'm a geek!
  16. I know from someone that the Stig is 3 different drivers. Also I know that Jeremy has all his cars licensed in the Isle of Man (for some reason. I'm sure it's not number recognition reasons). But I never told you... right []
  17. Sheep - Very nice wheels mate. Are they heavy compared to standards? I don't think I've met you - but I'm sure u r in at least one of the pics from the BBQ run. http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/708612/ShowPost.aspx
  18. Aww no. I can't believe it. The car looked really good on the BBQ run. Sorry to hear it mate. Is it a bad one?
  19. They r very sexy kit mate...
  20. lol... Thats my wishlist - not what I'm getting - well, not yet anyway! No money in computers, i've heard banks have lots tho. Was planning on going to see them tonight when I'm on the nightshift about 2am ... I must feed my scooby modding addiction! Remember what I said to you PlayS... I do like your beast of a motor - well thought out and executed
  21. Very nice clean car Wd mate....
  22. Ok, to keep you up-to-date. I found why my car handling has a lot to be desired - Struts are leaking! Have now ordered KYB AGX adjustable struts and Eibach pro springs (-30mm). Also thrown in is a Whiteline ALK. I'll fit these sometime this week. Also, I've ordered some ICE including 6.5" components for the front and Vauxhall Corsa speaker spacers. I had to get some bits from a rude-boy Corsa! As the leaky struts were a little unexpected, I'm gonna take it easy for a while and just go with that, until I save a bit more for my exhaust, wheels and tyres, (I like the look of the red wagon on the Revolution website and am very tempted by these similar rims - http://www.rarerims.co.uk/product_details_...d=9&pcd_id= with Toyo R1 215/35x18 ) and also a trip to see Andy F for an Apexi and Map, Uprated rear anti roll bar and droplinks.
