  1. Reading all the posts the time classes seem the fairest. Hard to make sure you sandbag and stay in one class. Last time I run a 13.2, with less fuel, no spare wheel and better traction I reckon I could get close to 13 but could edge into the high 12s but to get close to 13 I'll need to go all out, there is no way I could control my run to ensure I win the 13 class. Splitting the 13 to 13.5 would allow more competition and more interest. Also if a 600bhp car has issues and isn't running right there is no chance of winning anything if based on bhp but if you can still run but only manage 12s then there is still of winning something with the time classes. Another factor is RR produce different figure up 40 bhp difference so the driver may not know his accurate bhp. If we go with mods how do you know what's in an engine or if the car is mapped. 99% of people will be open but you will get the odd 1 or 2. Keep it simple save arguements.
  2. Just wondered if we are wanting to put a team in for the Go-Karting event at Modified Live. Details copied from the Events post. Knockhill will hold a one-hour endurance Kart race at Modified live on the 16th of May for all attending car club members to compete against each other. Team tactics are the name of the game with this group karting event. Choose 3 drivers to represent your club and we will kit them out with full race suits, helmets, gloves and neck braces. After a short Knockhill go-karting briefing covering general safety and important flag signals, climb into one of our fantastic SODI GT2 Karts for fast kart racing action. With driver changes and fuel stops, tactics are top priority so pick your team wisely! Once the karting practice is complete, decide which team member sets the pace for the rest of the race. Get ready for some serious non-stop go-karting fun with some super slick driver changes and fuel stops. First team over the finish line are on the podium for their karting trophy presentation and bubbly spraying. It's at a special rate of only £35 per driver! This offer is open to all members of your club but spaces are limited so don't delay! Contact Joe on 01383 723337 before Friday 7th May to book your space.
  3. Nice looking car, welcome to the forum. Have a look at the events section for local meets and shows for this year.
  4. Why not nearer the time do a poll for timed or power, then set out the rules based on result save the arguements.
  5. I think the 4 classes is fine keep it simple. Will save agruements. My Type R will be trailer purely because it isn't Taxed or Mot'd. Happy to go against a stripped out track car it is only a bit of fun.
  6. Got my letter. Used them a couple of times, parts department were are excellent, went out their way to find the limited edition parts for my GX Sport.
  7. Worked out at KH I get about 9mpg. The newage I normally get about 19mpg which is 220-230 a tank.
  8. Scottish Scoobie Shoot Out 2010 1. Grant (400BHP ORANGE ROAD CAR) 2. Fai17 3. kennyb 4. Braveheart (If in Country) 5. STI Pretender 6.
  9. Have to agree a great car, looks even better in the flesh. A Spec-C always bring a lot of admiration.
  10. Might be worth contacting a couple of mappers to see if they have hear of or seen this before. An email to AndyF would be my first port being a tuning Guru.
  11. Might be worth posting it up on Aberdeen Scoobies, Scottish Scoobies.net, Ayrshire, etc. I know SS.net were up on the Scooby v Skyline day in March. As Dunk says, good to set out the rules first save the petty arguements. STANDARD. MODIFIED. 1) NIGHTMARE 2) RA Dunk (date(s) pending 3) STI Pretender EXTREME.
  12. BTTT, please take a minute to participate in the survey, the more views and opinions we get the better we can make the club.
  13. Warranty I wouldn't bother with unless you want your shocks covered. Save the £400 and put it towards new suspension. If your keeping the car for a long time is there a lifetime membership option, I did it after the free year from subaru as always planned on keeping the car for a good number of years. Are you with RBS? you get free breakdown for any car and takes you to the nearest garage. Used it at KH and paid the recovery company an extra £17 to take me to Hypertech. I think other banks also give you rewards for certain accounts.
  14. Quick Smart in East Kilbride 01355 221551 or 07787 472806. Has done few bits for me on the newage and now does all of Eaglesham Garages repairs.
  15. Car was looking good at the last SIDC trackday, write-ups were great last year and now you have a bit more power can definitely see moving up the leader board. Good luck Robert
  16. A lot of members are going for BC coilovers good price (group buys on Scoobynet) will make the car quite a bit lower than standard. About £490 (Apex) + fitting You can get Tein Superstreet that are adjustable but can run the same high as the prodrive springs. There has been a thread on leaking from these and turnaround for repair is 6-7weeks. About £920 (Ebay) + fitting Eibach or KW variant 1 more expensive. Eibach have 2 year warranty both adjustable but can run the same high as the prodrive springs. Both about £1050-1100 (MSW or Ebay)+ fitting, reuse of top mounts or £300 for adjustable camber plates (Ebay). Might sound expensive but Subaru wanted £800 for the front 2 shocks last time I checked, so your looking at £1600 for a full set that could go anytime and you only get a years warranty. Hope this helps Robert
  17. I'm hoping for Carribean Holidays for the RO's and a 22B each, that or the chance of a free membership.
  18. Isn't really that hard, two bolts to remove the caliper, clamp the brake hose (unless it is braided) and unbolt it from the caliper. Remove pistons (can be a bit of a bugger) refurb or buy new pistons, new seal kit then refit. Bleeding kit and a mate to press the pedal. If you do get someone else to do it watch carefully just in case you need to do it in the future.
  19. Got my email, looking good. Hope to get a few articles sorted on meets and events for future issues.
  20. Just filled at Hillington did ask the question about how much and deliveries but got a blank look. At least we know of 2 with juice for tomorrow's run.
  21. Thanks for that might try to get some this afternoon.
  22. Thought I saw you Fraser, photos look good. What you driving now?
  23. Lovely example, always worth waiting for a good clean example. A map would be the first thing, you've probably researched P1's to death but just in case. P1's were JDM cars modified and rebranded as P1's in the UK. They weren't mapped for UK fuel but had a fuel broquette in the tank to increase the octane level of the UK fuel. One of the reasons they have a habit of blowing the engine around the 50k mark is there broquette disintegrates. Use a booster to help the octane level up (Andy recommends NF) until you get it mapped. Not trying to scare you just good to have as much info as possible. Keep your eye on the events section for Edinburgh meets.
  24. I know of a bugeye STI wagon but not ice-blue, think the guy is up in East Kilbride. All STI wagons are JDM from what I know.
