  1. When I slow down and come to a halt there is a clicking/knock noise from the rear. It isn't the brake pads as I have replaced these and copper slipped them good. Only happens when you cone to a complete stop and the car settles back if that makes sense. Any ideas what it could be? Cheers Chris
  2. Why? Have had 2 sets in the past and loved them although they were expensive. Some gauges just look like toy ones.
  3. Can anyone recommend a good boost gauge? Defi would be nice but hard to find secondhand. Chris
  4. Spoke to a girl called Claire at a-plan and got a reasonable price. Can't get a hold of Gary moulson yet so will try him again on Monday.
  5. Well I thought I would phone my insurance company today to see if there were any implications about fitting stainless steel exhaust parts and they advised it would be an extra £200 a year if I do this. This was even with it down as not increasing bhp. The justification was because it was a non standard part. Does this then mean that if I went to say kwil fit and got an exhaust from them that wasn't genuine Subaru then I would be £200 extra also as it is not a standard part? Needless to say I am now looking for alternative insurance company that is mod friendly. I have contacted Gary moulson at Keith michaels and also competition car insurance. Are there any other recommendations? Rant over for the day. Cheers Chris
  6. Well had a try this morning and found that the nuts on the downpipe side are rusted so bad that they are disintegrating away. Think I will need to rethink my plans as the rest of the exhaust may need replaced sooner than I thought.
  7. Now everything is clear. I will see if I can do this tomorrow if it is dry. Will soak everything in wd40 as suggested before I try.
  8. Do I need to unscrew the studs or just the bolts? Car is 8 years old and from what I have read studs are a pig at the best of times
  9. Another techie question to which the answer is probably obvious by I am new to all this diy modding. I managed to purchase a very good quality but very cheap cat delete pipe on eBay to tide me over until I get full exhaust changed next year and when I looked under car to see how it fits I can understand how to remove the spring bolts between centre section and cat pipe but am confused by the set up on the other side connected to downpipe. There appears to be nuts attached to what I think are studs but do I just take the nuts off and the cat pipe slides off or do I need to unscrew the studs as well? The new pipe doesn't have threads in the holes connecting to the downpipe so am I right in saying the original cat won't so should just slide off? As I said this may be a really obvious question but don't want to go trying something that I can't do. The car is also 8 years old so I am guessing this won't be a 10 minute job Thanks Chris
  10. Since it was a nice day we thought we would go a wee run to Glencoe for a few photos. Tried to get one in similar location to my last scoob. There were 2 scamera vans in the vicinity of glencoe so just as well we were not speeding and just enjoying the drive.
  11. Very stealthy looking
  12. welcome back. Nice looking car you have. Chris
  13. well we attempted the fitting of the new braided brake hoses yesterday and with being on the car for 8 years the flare nuts were lets say tight. We managed to get 3 out of the 4 hoses done but one of the flare nuts was just not for coming off. We didn't want to keep trying it or the things would just squish. So now going to have to book it in somewhere to get the final one fitted. Chris
  14. I love how a fairly simple question can end up with complex answers. I think that it is a no go for me at the moment. Least I know what to do to get it. Thanks Chris
  15. Popped up after lunch for a look around but think a lot of people were heading home. Looked like it was a good day and weather was scorchio
  16. Looking good. Might even pop along to the show tomorrow if weather is nice
  17. Funny you should say that but I resorted to a jubilee clip also. Had a look on ebay and I take it that a set of long nose pliers with angled ends would do the trick? Chris
  18. Ok bit of a stupid question but can anyone advise if there is a special tool to remove the clip that holds the hose to the bottom of the recirculating dump valve? I tried using a pair of pliers but it was too fiddly so wondered is there a special tool? Cheers Chris
  19. So what mods do you need to get it?
  20. Lol. Never said I liked the Vxr it just got me thinking when it passed. Fitting an induction kit on the focus st gives you it but I know that doesnt work on scoobs. So is it bigger turbo that is required?
  21. As topic says. How do you get wastegate chatter without spending a fortune? Of all things to make me think of this was tonight when an astra Vxr passed by the house and I could hear wastegate chatter from it. It sounded good.
  22. What did you purchase then? Chris
  23. Thanks for the info now to buy said tool :-)
  24. Does anyone know what sizes are required to allow me to change the brake hoses? Car is 04 plate sti. Cheers Chris
