Well the nut splitter would only work on top nut and was too big to get into the bottom nut so am going to have to throw in the towel on this and put it into a garage and pay to get them fitted:-( was trying to learn how to do simple things but hey guess even the simple things are only simple if you know how and have the right tools.

Not had a chance to try it. Hopefully will try at weekend. Hope it works as I am tearing my hair out on this and can't let it beat me lol

I have been trying to get the nuts off my droplinks for a while now and have resorted to this fine tool. After 8 years of grit and grime and Scottish weather the nuts are not for coming off my droplinks. I have tried soaking in WD40, i have tried cutting off with a mini dremel tool all of which haven't worked. I have now borrowed a nut splitter which will hopefully do the trick and if all else fails i will need to hand it over to the professionals to do the job for me. I have managed to borrow quite a heavy duty nut splitter from someone as the ones on ebay and halfrauds look quite fragile. Fingers crossed it can cut the nuts off with this.

250 miles done now on the new catback. Think it is bedding in nicely.

Big thanks to scoobywho aka Scott for getting my alloy sorted. Turns out original weld was full of holes so no wonder it cracked.

I think this is a daft question and probably the answer is obvious but can you hear the drone you get from exhaust in the cabin when you are outside the car? Chris

I remember going through this dilema on my last scoob. I got a lot of good technical explanations as why not to fit one but also got some people posting saying they had fitted one and had no issues. On my focus st it had one on it when I bought it and I had no issues. I guess it is just one of these things where you can be lucky or not. My old thread should still be on here with the responses from the experts back in the day. Chris

found out this morning that one of my alloys is cracked. Unknown to me it has already been repaired and has gone again so looks like a new set of alloys is on the cards. Where is good place to get them from. Need to fit 04 sti. Ideally looking for 18"'s as i have 4 pretty decent tread tyres. Or does anyone have a set they are looking to sell? cheers Chris

So the shorter the box the louder the exhaust. Does the same apply for bass sound in the the wider the box the deeper the bass sound from exhaust?

well dci lee has done it again and did some sweet talking to meerkat for me so now just need to get it booked in and decide what exhaust note i want. looking for something not blitz loud but defo louder than the last 2 exhausts i had. then i will have a prodrive backbox up for sale.

Blitz I think would be too loud lol. Needs to be able to be used on long road trips to the ring etc. Cobra seem to get good reviews but never heard one in real life. Might drop meerkat a note and see how they price these days.

I have heard afterburner are good but nit too sure about how loud they are. Japspeed is very cheap but dies that mean poor build quality?

Ok so looking for a cat back for my Sti and wondered what people thought was a hood option. Got about £350 max to spend on it and that will include gasket and new bolts. So far I have looked at japspeed, cobra, tornado from scoobyparts, afterburner vortex, miltek and ninja1 and2. Would have loved meerkat but think out of my price range. So what do you guys recommend? Can anyone tell me how to remove the rear droplinks on an 04 Sti Please? They aren't the c shaped ones. I can't find a hex slot or anything to hold the bolt in place when I undo the nut. I dont really want to have to cut them. Cheers Chris

Would I need to remove side skirt first?

How easy is it to remove and fit a new passenger front wing on a blobeye? Does the old one just unscrew off and new one screw in? Cheers Chris

What exhaust did you go for? Am looking at exhausts just now and not sure what to go for. Just looking at a cat back just now but not wanting to pay over the odds for it.

Is jimsers classic not still for sale? Might be worth consideration if it is.

Car done less than 40k even though it is 8 years old and has full service history. Doesn't move mon to fri. Cam anyone give me ideas how to narrow down the hunt for the cause? Cheers Chris
