D4WGY Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Coming off the Broxden roundabout tonight, inside lane, heading north. Back end decides to try and overtake the front end, front end wanted nothing to do with it so through the back end back to where it came from..... back end decides to go further than it was meant to, taking me up the kerb, sideways with the front wheels on the road, back wheels on the grass, back end sticks, front end spins round and takes the car nose first down the embankment and thanks to the grace of a very kind tree, the car comes to a complete stop. Don't know how much damage I've done but it's certainly not pretty, back bumper is ripped off bar a few nuts holding it on at the drivers side, front is caved in by the tree but looks to be no engine damage. Just need to wait and see if the impact of going down the embankment was enough to twist the chassis. Police and ambulance were there in a matter of minutes, got checked over, breathalysed etc, been told I have somebody looking after by more than a few people. Had a couple stop coz they saw my interior light on and thought the worst. Guy said he was so relieved to see me standing upright. Walked away without a scratch on me. Will get pictures up tomorrow when I go down to see the car. Which brings me on to the question... anybody have a lock up I can store her so I don't have to pay for garage holding fees? It would be appreciated and there would be a massive thank you present in it. Cheers Shep
Alan-G Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 That's a bumm*r mate. Sorry, but I cannae help you with a lockup. []

D4WGY Posted January 15, 2007 Author Posted January 15, 2007 Thanks guys, just completely gutted that it's happened Nevermind though, at least I'm here to tell you about it Police were very dead on with me which made all the difference to how I'm feeling. Not looking forward to seeing her tomorrow
scoobyiain Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 sorry to hear about your crash mate but atleast you are still here to tell the tale, when i crashed mine it was towed to recovery place and left there for a few days. Insurance should pay the fee's for you, they did for me anyway. let us know how you get on
martin_allen Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 scoobyiain is right, this is an insurance job anyway so if you have AA or RAC cover get them to recover it to place of safety. Your insurance will pick up the tab. Copper told me that can work best too. If it is at your house or free storage then the insurance company can take ages to send out an assessor. In storage at £25 a day things happen a lot quicker! m.
insane clown Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 strewth mate!!...your a lucky man, at least you can talk about it though. must be sickening for you to see the scoob in a state[]...hope it's repairable.. as mentioned..let us know how you get on[Y]

Dougie C Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Glad your ok mate and sorry to hear about the crash. Hope you get your scooby sorted soon. Dougie C
paddy247 Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 glad ur ok, cars can be replaced. That ditch is called, the The BMW ditch, normally its on beamers you see in it, a bad corner for the rear wheel drives in the wet. Paddy.
eurosti Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 At least you walked out of it mate, hope you get her back on the road soon and the damage is not so extreme that its a write off. Although if its front and rear then maybe its better written off. I know the car is probably your pride and joy, if there is alot of damage it will never be the same even when repaired.
jamie_wood Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 glad ur ok, cars can be replaced. That ditch is called, the The BMW ditch, normally its on beamers you see in it, a bad corner for the rear wheel drives in the wet. Paddy. yep, your right Paddy. Seen a dude in a BMW boilersuit standing on the verge with a ZM3 parked down the banking one time.[:$] Doing its one thing, but in a customers car!!!Deserves the sack!!! Anyway, hope your troubles sort their selves out Matey.
Double Zero Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 sorry to about the car m8 but as long as you are fine thats cool,i passed there about 4pm today heading south and the roads were a bit greasy, hope the damage aint to severe and you are back on the road soon.
col666 Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Glad your ok Shep. Must be the time of year, i had a similar experiance yesterday afternoon on the slip road onto the M90 at bridge of earn. Pulled onto slip road in 2nd and gave it a bit of gas,now the type r is a bit lairy in the wet but this was different, back end came right round instantly and sent me nose first over the kerb which was luckily an angled one and not flat faced. It was deep gravel for drainage on the other side luckily and that stopped me hitting the banking, got away very lightly with a few scratches on the alloy but could have been a lot worse. Kwik Fit put my new wheels and tyres on,on friday afternoon and i was on my way back from Falkland after getting my geometry set-up when this happened. Car wasnt feeling right so checked tyre pressures, 36 psi all round!! was like driving on ice its no wonder the back stepped out so quick! will be having words with the fitter tomorrow! Col.
D4WGY Posted January 15, 2007 Author Posted January 15, 2007 36 psi?? Bloody nora mate! Glad you and your car came off relatively unscathed. I'd be kicking up serious hell about that one. I dunno whether to feel ashamed or privilidged to have sent a Scooby into BMW ditch?? Adrenaline's wearing low and the back's hurting a tad now. Thank god they're robust cars, could have been a lot worse. Shep
frank c Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Sorry to hear mate, but i'm glad to hear your ok... Sorry i can't help with a lock-up either.. Take care Frank
Jamis Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Hope the scoob aint to bad mate and good that you are ok.
D4WGY Posted January 15, 2007 Author Posted January 15, 2007 Thanks guys, am actually gonna get it dropped at my girlfriend's place tomorrow hopefully as she has a private, communal car parking area outside her house, if it's proper bad damage I'll just get a car cover for it, all electrics are still working so the alarm will still function. Then again, may just leave it and see how quickly the insurance can come and have a look at it.
scoobyiain Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Hopefully they don't take too long to come and have a look, my insurance came the next day to look at mine
fai17 Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 So sorry to here about the bad news but at least you can tell the tale....
nanaki Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 as long as you are around to tell the story then eventually you look back and laugh..... still will suck right now though but you'll get through it.
