harvey_smith Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Sorry to hear this Russell. I have been very happy with the bits you have done for me and the service provided. Don't let them grind you down and be intimidated. When I came to the Scooby community the supply and tuning options were pretty limited and it was a bit of a closed shop. An FMIC was £1300 and tubular headers about a grand. Some of these suppliers were taking owners for a ride. The experts knew it was impossible to get 400 bhp out of a Scooby engine and for 350 bhp you needed a closed deck block anyhow. What a load of Sh1t. Don't give up mate. Stuff it up them. Best Regards and Good Luck.
st3ph3n Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Wuz, you could be my cowboy anytime mate [] Thank you for all assistance you've provided me either via PM (for my defis) or that you've provided to others which I have read to further my understanding of these great cars. If we take a look at scottish built Imprezas that are real road weapons then you are responsible for a good share of them. I'm sure some of your detractors wouldn't even get a mention. Good luck with whatever you decide mate, you are an always will be an asset to the community.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Sweet Jesus - I log off and go to watch The Sopranos and return to this ! Russell - you know my sentiments big chap. The BHP sticker on my wings stay put. You without a Scooby is like Laurel without hardy, Andy F without EcuTek. These forums will always be full off bullsmit & conflicting opinions. Keep the heid and keep doing what you love Love & Torque Wrenches Cal
dougie549 Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 HI Russel Meet you at Knockhill a few years back with Kev. Totaly agree with you M8 if people keep sticking there nose in then it can get a bit of a pain in the arse M8. Its your call and no matter what people say on here you will do what you see right for yourself at the time. What you will find is that you have p i s s e d the other Tunners of without even trying to people might have said but Bhp quoted me this and Bhp did a really good job for me the last time,Bhp cars got this at the rollers Ect, and they can only get back at you by saying all the s h i t of the day about you. I hope you do whats right for YOU and not for the others to dictate what you do with your life. Cheers Dougie

Come back bigger and stronger and take all your customers cars to a new level the detractors can only dream of ps It is a nice feeling when AndyF says that you have done a good job prepping a car for him to map
wrxmania Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 WOW - what's been going on in here tonight - this is terrible news Russell. To h*ll with tuners who know nothing. BRING BACK BHP!!! Brian []
fai17 Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Like what alot of folks have said here....please don't shut up shop and go... You have help me greatly in the past and will always offer good advice for the lest knowledge folks. Stick it out and make you present clients car even more of a weapon.[] The other day a guy walks in my shop at 10pm on Friday night and told me i have food poison his wive last sunday and he has been off work to look after her.....(a short version)...he told me that i'll hear from his lawer soon.....i said ok bring it on then...he walked out.... That put you in a right downer when you try your best to keep everyone happy... I'm still here and running my shop and heard he haw. Sleep on it m8.
redscoobydoo Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Hi Russ, Met you briefly at Alford. Thougth I would add my penny worth!!! Firstly look at the respect you have from all these posts... I take my hat off to you !! Havent had the priveledge of having your professional service yet, but intend too when I get my new scoob!! All i here is shacks of great comments about you!! esp craig, was at his the other nite and he praise you up bigtime!! Your professionalism undoubtably shines through, you abviously get great sense of achievement from your customers feed back and there big smiles every time they sink that right foot. There is not many places you can get that service nowadays, like someone else said earlier, too many of them just sfter your money in return for a pi55 poor service(not everyone) I hope after reading all the posts you reconsider and like Brian Says...... BRING BACK BHP...................... ITS WAY OUT FRONT!! CHARLIE[Y]
colin_ross Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Russ, having never met you I really know you by reputation only. And going by the all the nice things people have to say its safe to assume it's a good one. Not knowing the full situation I wouldn't presume to tell you what to do but what I would say is take some time and think on. If you are going to keep it up with some customers you must enjoy it and if that is the case I wouldn't let anyone else influence what you do. Just make sure that whatever you do its because you want to.
craigwrx Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Hi WUZ i dont know you and have no idea what has happened .... All i can say is that should you pull the plug "they" have won and "they" will be happy ....why let that happen ? Only two people matter ..you and your current customer, and it sure does appear that u have a lot of happy previous customers.
chris_c201 Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Russell, I don't have a subaru anymore so don't really stand to lose anything if you shut up shop but i still have to add to what has already been said. I asked you a couple of questions in the past and you came back with full, precise and honest answers, some of them probably taking you a fair amount of time to write which i genuinely appreciated, as you've said i never got the impression that it was a "job" for you.......... I hope you can take the positives here and use them to drive you on rather than letting the "proffesionals" get you down.. I know if i go back to scooby ownership (which i may well do next year) i would definitely be interested in using BHP Developments for some work.....
dave_morgan Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 I've never used your services Russell, but wouldn't hesitate to going by what everyone says on here. Just read the comments if you want to know what people genuinely think of you and your work - these are your customers and potential customers. I would far sooner listen to what people say here than what your competition are saying so don't be put off. If you enjoy it, keep doing it. If not, your right to get out. Dave p.s. I've never heard anything negative said about you or your work.
rossyboy1 Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Russell, dont do it mate. You've spent 40+ hours on my car and I am delighted as my beastie has been transformed into a road rocket [] You take the time to do the jobs right and dont try to sell any bits that owners dont need. Message is clear here - why go to a place that will cost two or three times as much and do a worse job? BHP Developments Must Live On!!!! Apart from anything else, it'd mean taking the bhp sticker off my car []
thefastone Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Why take the BHP sticker off, whatever happens and whatever Russels decision is He still has the credit for another great job well done!!! [y]
duncan_stephen Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Holly Cr@p. I have no idea what has started this although I know that the tuning game can be a big slagging match at times. Russ, I have only met you once (Despite all the PM's back and fore [:$]) but right away I knew where I wanted my Scoob to go. The knowledge you have would be wasted if BHP were to close. You set me on the right path and even told me the best places to get my parts, even though you could have got them for me and charged me a fortune. That alone showed me that you are in it for the love of tuning scoobs. I know you have offered to continue with my car but I still feel that lots of people are going to loose out on a great service at a great price. The proof is in the pudding as they say, and I have only ever heard good things about you and BHP Developments. I have never heard bad things from a customer. Who cares what the "proffesionals" think. Like you say, they are there for the money. (Not saying they don't do the job) as they need to be run as a buisness. Pay overheads and the like. Russel I honestly wouldn't let these people put you off what you love doing (And it is clearly done out of love, not driven by money). I know it cant be easy with a young family and time spent at home is valuable, but don't let them win. Continue with helping make our scoobs go fast. Please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please
rossyboy1 Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Why take the BHP sticker off, whatever happens and whatever Russels decision is He still has the credit for another great job well done!!! Good point []
tazmaniandevil Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Don't know you bud, but from reading many posts my perception is that you do damned good work at a fraction of what the so-called 'professionals' charge. (Professional: master: an authority qualified to teach apprentices) I'm sure the bad comments etc. are nothing but sour grapes from jealous w***ers who wish they had half your talent. I understand why you feel like jacking it all in, but wonder if this is anger speaking. Why not take some time out instead, and think about your options. From what I have read you would get a huge amount of support from members of this forum if you decided to continue. ILLEGITIMUS NON CARBORUNDUM
Johnny50 Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Russell. Dont give in mate. You know you're good, we know you're good...so rise above em. Only met you once when you supplied and fitted parts on the wagon, and even though it's all back to standard, it's still sporting a BHP Developments sticker on the back window, where it will remain. Feck the rest of them...we value your advice, and admire your dedication. So stay put young man. [] All the best. Johnny
craig mac Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 sorry to hear your not happy. you do a good job have worked on a lot of cars with excellent results charged less than others looked after the cars better dont let people put you off doing what your doing just coz their gay and sleep with other men. keep up the good work you english man you And they touch goats[]
GrantyBoy Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 well I'm keeping the BHP sticker on my car as to me its a sign of quality workmanship. I've been out of the scene for a year or so now so don't know what has happened. All I can say is Russ is a good guy and I'm more than happy with the level of work he has done to my car. I hope you don't shut up shop but do what you have to do bud, if its not worth it any more its not worth it. Keep on trucking big guy! Grant
RA Dunk Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 all of these posts and not one of them negative kind of tells you something dont it, your good at what you do , you enjoy what you do, you can easily take a bit of flack from the opposition as your better than they are, as they say fear is a terrible thing and they fear you if you are going to deffo close what about just having your own reliable customers anyway dont close yet i still havent got my BHP sticker from ya yet!! []
craig mac Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Dunc, Who or which customer of Wuz has ever bitched? I certainly have never seen or heard that in the 8 or so years i have known him. Craig
