jamie_wood Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Well, yesterday was my last day at work Got my stuff packed up and was sent home at two o clock. After over ten years in the Agri/plant business its now come to an end As of yesterday afternoon I was unemployed and the owner of a P45 In true unemployed tradition I went out for a big meal and hit the bevy ( a burger and a Bud), hoping that I had enough money to get me through the night. Now I have to face the reality. Im out of work ....but only for 48 hrs Monday morning and Im off to Aberdeen to start a new life in the Offshore industry. I will be working in Aberdeen for the first couple of weeks before I hit the seven seas in a quest for bags of gold I will be away from home for periods of up to six weeks at a time but will have rest breaks of roughly the same when im home. If all you lot are still happy with me being the Ro for my area then I would like to keep my job. I will still carry on as per normal with meets and can keep up to date with the goings on from the other side of the globe anyway thanks to the Forum Catch you all soon P.s next Central meet will be around the end of October

st3ph3n Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Good luck Jamie. Do you get cheaper insurance on your car if you're only using it 50% of the year? Will you still be tinkering with cars during the off weeks for pocket money/fun?

Gumball Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 glad your sorted mateyboy. you will enjoy it when you start and thinking about it youve made the right decision on what line to follow within that industry. keep safe, have fun, see you soon.
jamie_wood Posted September 17, 2005 Author Posted September 17, 2005 So many questions Im going out as a "System Tech" as they call it. It will involve looking after the Diving equipment, Bells, Helmets etc and also the larger stuff such as the pipe line ploughs, pipe laying equipment, Hydraulics, Electronics etc. Detailing service records and keeping ontop of upgrades, Modifications,Warranty work.....blah blah blah. Im glad I took this route of offshore work rather than the Rigs as I will get to travel more and specialise in areas. Plus the candy is better Thanks to the AWD guys Need to nip in ans see you all soon Stephen, I will be "tinkering" with cars in my spare time I guess. Theres still a small list to get through at the mo'!! Once I get into a routine i will be able to help folks out a bit better. Need to get my own one 100% before much longer. Its needing time spent on it to get her as I want it. Then I will probably sell her and get something a bit more special Claire & Wuliie, I dont know where I will have the next meet. Might do the Hungry Horse again. Just need to wait and see wont you And Gumball, thanks for your info over the past few weeks. Its been helpful

Carl Davey Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 As i said the other day Jamie congratulations and good luck. The time away may seem daunting at first but you'll soon get used to it. It may take a bit longer but i'm sure the better half will learn to live with it too. Especially when the big houses and flash cars start coming home.
wrxmania Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 All the best Jamie. A change is good for you sometimes. Keep the car well away from snooping eyes whilst away Brian
